  1. Well it is that time of the year where we start our tracking training (have started about 3 weeks ago).....have started training Dezzy and Pink in Track and Search and Tamika is training Jessie in Track and Search.....a very kind older lady has a dog who has got its Tracking Dog Title but as she is older cannot keep on going with the dog in tracking so has asked if I would handle her dog for her....I have said yes and she is a very fast and strong dog when on track and is a Weimeraner....her name is Mel and we are doing really well together in training Our first trial in T&S is the last weekend in April and I am handling Dezzy and Tamika is handling Jessie....Pink misses out on this trial as she has a dog show the day before and will probably be too tired and then the second weekend in May I am handling Mel in our first trial together to do a Test 4.....loving that the season has started and we are back out there loving doing what we do us and our dogs......the club is also putting on a Tracking Workshop next Saturday and I have to lay a track which will be great....hope to have some great success this season both in tracking and track and search....looking forward to it
  2. Our girl Jessie has been having problems with vomiting for a while....we have spent a fortune on blood tests to find out what she has not got.....we had her on Black Hawk but changed her to Royal Canin sensitive but she was still not right.....we have now changed her to Supercoat Sensitive and she has been fantastic we also changed how we gave her medication like made her tea up and took a bit out for her breakfast and put her tablets in with her meals.....I had put them in hot dog beforehand....Jessie vomits every 2-3 months and we are at the stage where she should be vomiting again.....she hasn't so far so keep fingers crossed that this has cured her vomiting .....I know that Supercoat is not a great dry food but if it works I am all for it.....hope you find something that suits your dog as there is nothing worse than them being sick and you cannot do anything :D
  3. They are in Melton area as well....one girl was saying she asked one of them for ID and he said the name of the company and then said it was a software company .....I may be behind the times since I didn't know that a software company would sell and install downlights
  4. thanks Claudia123 I will speak to the vet about it but they have done a blood test for diabetes and her levels are fine also she has not been on anitbiotics and does not get any ear infections or bladder infections or drooling or skin lesions....she just vomits and is lethargic for 24-48 hours then back to her normal self but thanks for the suggestion :)
  5. @VislaMomma this instructor is very arrogant anyway and thinks that he knows better well believe me he won't anymore cause I am furious for him making our girl sick @Persephone you are dead right....I am learning to become an OB instructor at the moment and I would never treat anyone's dog without their permission and it would only be to demonstrate on how to do things and again that would only happen if I had permission from the dog's owner....those leads look fantastic and I will be getting Jessie a set....they are her favourite color too....thank you for the link :D
  6. Hi everyone I thought I would give you an update on how Jessie has been going.....after 9th December she vomited once every week but it was different in that she was sick but was still her bouncy self and I figured out it was the Bromav so we make up her tea and take some of it for breakfast and put her medications into the tea/breakfast morning and night and she has tolerated this very well with no more vomiting but we are coming up to the 2-3 month vomit at the end of January/early February so will wait and see if anything happens We were at our local OB club for the break-up and my daughter's instructor (who we have problems with) gave Jessie some cheese so my daughter asked him to not give her anything else because she has been sick.....Jessie sat in front of him so he gave her some we think kangaroo mince and white chocolate and guess what Jessie was very lethargic for the next two days (we are going to be talking to the club about this when we go back in February).....we felt she didn't tolerate the Royal Canin Sensitive so we have now changed her onto Supercoat Sensitive along with chicken mince, beef mince, tuna and chicken frames and guess what she is doing so well with no vomits since before christmas Keeping fingers crossed she continues to improve and keep handling her meds the way we are giving them to her now
  7. Does that also insure your dog? I have heard a story, where a therapy dog was attacked by an elderly person. I have always wanted to do it :) yes you and your dog are covered through places like Delta (I assume it is the same everywhere else) and they even help you if a court case happens due to something that maybe happened at a facility you are visiting
  8. Yes Robbi the oldies do love Dezzy and they know what day he comes in to visit even though they have dementia....they say when a cat sleeps on a persons bed that their time is near and I believe the animals do make the elderly feel a lot better in themselves with pets around.....at the Disability Centre another group came into the unit where I was visiting and one of the clients was patting and talking to Dezzy and everyone was pulling out ipads, phones, cameras etc taking pics of them and also they were crying....I asked what was going on and they said the lady that was patting Dezzy was absolutely terrified of dogs and when they asked her why she was patting Dezzy for she replied that she just felt safe with him.....so yes pets do make a huge difference in nursing homes and disability centres they also have classroom canines which encourge children having difficulty learning make a difference and they start to learn with the dog....there are so many things that pets can do just by being a pet
  9. my Amstaff Dezzy is a Delta Therapy Dog where he goes into a nursing home and a disability centre.....there are many many great reactions from the residents and they love seeing the dog.....the nursing home that I attend is a dementia nursing home and even though they have lost their memories if I am 5 minutes late they tell me off....lol....it is great seeing their reactions and at the disability centre there have been many new things that the residents would not normally do....it is so rewarding just to see their faces when Dezzy walks in the door :) Delta Society has many volunteers all over Australia :)
  10. Actually dogs track better in the rain.....unless there is water running where the scent particles will move with the water a dog will always be able to track and they do track better in the rain.....even if the scent particles have moved with water the dog will always work it out and pick up the scent again a bit further on :) I hope your aunt gets her dog back soon and he will be back home soon where he belongs :)
  11. well all I can say is so far I love it which I didn't think I ever would as I am a Tracking person....it was a great first show and we will enjoy more in the future :)
  12. I am sooo happy with our very first show.....our gorgeous girl T.Ch. Zforce Rock Ina Frock aka Pink attended the Castlemaine Show and we got Neuter in Group....huge thanks to Corey who handled her so beautifully....we are a tracking family with 3 Amstaffs but are having fun showing our girl in neuter classes
  13. I am going but on Tuesday the 30th :)
  14. @stressmagnet.....Jessie is back to her normal self....I have changed her to the Hills SD Sensitive Stomach and she seems to be doing well on it but we will have to wait for the 2-3 month mark to really see how she is doing on it.....on Sunday she went back to Rally-O and obedience training and had a ball......if anything she thinks she is starving and even had a bench surf which she has never done and grabbed a piece of roast beef off the bench  I have had a look at the link that JulesP put up but I will have to ask the vet because of Jessie's medications as I really do not know how they will react with her medications awesome news! I'm really interested in Jessie's journey as I have a friend with a dog going through similar ups and downs. Sags :) @Sagittarian I will keep you updated on how she goes but at the moment she is back to her normal self @JulesP...I know you didn't suggest it but I am willing to try anything to try and help Jessie overcome this "sickness" and am grateful for anybody's opinion or suggestions :D
  15. @stressmagnet.....Jessie is back to her normal self....I have changed her to the Hills SD Sensitive Stomach and she seems to be doing well on it but we will have to wait for the 2-3 month mark to really see how she is doing on it.....on Sunday she went back to Rally-O and obedience training and had a ball......if anything she thinks she is starving and even had a bench surf which she has never done and grabbed a piece of roast beef off the bench  I have had a look at the link that JulesP put up but I will have to ask the vet because of Jessie's medications as I really do not know how they will react with her medications
  16. thanks Sueang I will look into the Meals for Mutts.....Jessie has been on the medication for 2 years and has had no trouble only when we started her on Black Hawk but will certainly look into what you have told me.....she is okay on the Hills Science Diet Sensitive Stomach at the moment and will see how she goes.....as people have stated it may be a process of elimination and keeping fingers crossed taking her off the Black Hawk will do this....will let you know how she goes but as I said i will definitely look into what you have told me
  17. thanks for that Sueang.....I will try anything.....I have started the process of elimination today as Jessie was again sick this morning but recovered within a couple of hours......going back through a lot of vet bills and records and discussion with my husband we worked out Jessie was just changed over to the Black Hawk when she first became sick.....I am starting to wonder whoever suggested it earlier whether it may be toxins from her medication causing her to be sick....we are slowly changing her over to the Hills Science Diet Sensitive Stomach dry food and not change anything else and see how she goes with that....keeping fingers crossed it is just something in the Black Hawk that does not agree with her and the medications she is on....I will keep everyone updated on how she goes :)
  18. thanks Sueang it is something that I can certainly speak to my vet about as well....although if it is highly contagious my other dogs drink from the same water as Jessie and they all lick each others mouths and they are not sick at all and yes all water at our house is changed every day for them to have clean fresh water daily but something else to look into so thank you very much
  19. thanks Mrs Rusty Bucket.....will maybe get a vet to get the hair samples then but will speak with the person Erny has given the number for....everyone is so helpful on here and I really appreciate everybodys input
  20. thanks for this advice Erny....I will certainly be looking into this as spending a fortune on blood tests and still no answers.....do you suggest that we have the hair DNA tested whilst she is sick or when she is not.....would it make a difference???
  21. thanks jm266 I looked up Addisons Disease and yes it could very well be this and I will mention it to my vet and see what she says and get it tested for or my usual vet has semi-retired but works a couple days a week and I might ring him as I really do like him he is very "on the ball" with things
