Loud bangs from every direction here.. can't see a single thing though. Miley is inside barking.. every dog in the street is barking actually *sigh*

Yeh I was pretty shocked at seeing it actually. We were at the vet and he did it in front of her and she didn't say anything. I felt so sad for the dog..I regret not saying anything now.

I would get that looked at.. sounds like infection.

Yesterday I saw an elderly man with his very very long legged dog. He had him on a lead..actually it was rope. When the dog didn't do as he directed, he whacked him with his walking stick. The dog looked docile, but did try and pull in his own direction at times. Not sure what to think really.

Some dogs always have fish breath. Do you feed him raw chicken necks yet? They help a little.

Yeh I was using a slicker brush and normal brush, but now I have to switch to a wide tooth comb. I won't let it get like that again. It was so sudden too.. took me by surprise.

I ended up washing her and taking her to the vet after an hour of back cramping grooming that was going nowhere. The reason her ears are like that suddenly is because her fur has gone from long silky waves to super tight afro curls. Apparently it's an age thing? I wasn't expecting it.

I think she has been rubbing her ears against her favourite outside chair. She has no knots anywhere on her except massive matted ears I have tried brushing them out, but it's impossible. 2 weeks ago when I bath/groomed her, I thought, I won't cut them out with scissors (last time I used scissors we had an emergency vet visit for staples ) I will use the clippers. The clippers are shite and didn't get through the fur. Tonight they are just a total mess. She is over me trying to fix them and hiding in her crate from me. I have done a bit every day for the 2 weeks but they are just tangling more and more. I have to buy a good pair of clippers. Any suggestions please? Oh and how ridiculous is she going to look without fur on her ears? She has always had long silky ears.. this is going to be strange. I wonder how long they will take to grow back? I wish I didn't have a fear of the scissors, getting the little knots out before they turned into big ones was so much easier. I'm just too traumatised from the "accident" though

Wow isn't this thread racist It's not a Koala.. they say it is so they can get more money for it.. it being a possum ;) Some people like exotic foods. I went to a reastaraunt in Box Hill once and they showed some fluffy critter in a cage to a family at a table.. pretty sure it was a puppy, but I didn't get a close enough look. It shocked me and made me feel ill, but I won't diss an entire race of people over it.

He also has rad clippers, so he can get some of her knots off too lol last time I tried with scissors we ended up with an emergency vet visit to sew her up After what dogmad said, I wonder if he will do other tests for brain tumours and things :/ Ok just got a bought of paranoia.. off to take Miley out for a pee

well there you go. I also didn't end up getting that long haired cat my daughter begged me for.. because I was advised against it.. because of my sons allergies ;) Don't stress out about Miley we will get there.

I didn't end up using the nappies last night Clyde.. advice isn't falling on deaf ears and never has. Just because I choose not to take ones advise sometimes doesn't mean I don't read it and consider it. I was advised to take her to the vet to rule out infection.. appointment has been made (actually just changed to 1:15 tomorrow because the vet I wanted to see is sick). I was also advised that nappies may not be a good idea, so I tried without. I was also advised to use a lead inside.. which is so simple but I totally didn't think of it.. she is now inside next to me with a lead on. I'm not exactly sure what threads your are referring to, where advise fell on deaf ears? For 2 years a tried every bit of advise and opinions given to me in regards to Ollie (the pug) and then in the end re-homed him. Some people were for it some were against. I guess if you were against me re-homing, it may have frustrated you.. not sure why now re-homing is fine now though In any thread, there will be some people who support my decisions and some who don't. It doesn't mean I am ignorant.

Actually Danois, I meant 3 days of dry nappies.. not in 3 days ;) I have just put her in the crate.. she laid in bed with me and watched some murder mystery show.. and didn't pee. I will have to have her on a lead inside.. my pregnancy brain farts stop me from thinking of the obvious

Yep, she is peeing when I am not watching.. which is why she is outside.. makes me nervous. Hopefully the vet can give me some ideas.. I will contact K9-pro too.

The comment which upset me the most was that I was being cruel. The link donatella posted on how to turn a nappy into a dog nappy is great If it doesn't work out, I have emergency nappies for the baby once he is born lol As far as Miley being able to get away from her pee in her crate goes.. she seems to be quite happy to lay in it and then stink of pee because it's all on her fur. She is the weirdest dog in the universe. I haven't opened the packet of nappies yet, still deciding on if I need to. I may just pop a dog blanket on my bed for an hour and hope for the best. If she pee's I will sleep in my son's cot for the night

Oh and Clyde, I am trying to do the best by my dog.. making comments like I am cruel are uncalled for.

I couldn't get her into the vet until tomorrow. I don't see how it's cruel.. she doesn't mind being dressed up in clothes, so how is a nappy going to upset her? As far as her fur getting wet, she lays in her wet crate and it gets on her fur anyway.. what's the difference? I am only planning to use them short term. Hopefully they stay dry for the hour on my bed at night and after 3 days, I won't bother with them anymore. The thought of her peeing in my bed is unbearable.. I don't want to risk it and I don't know if she is suffering physiological incontinence or emotional yet, so I'm not taking the chance.
