I had just finished grooming dogs for the day and was driving home with the trailer when I saw this Shih tzu on it's own sniffing around. It was sooo badly neglected. Matted, face all black etc I probably could have caught it if I had a lead, but it was frightened and may have bitten had I pounced to try and pick it up. It did have a collar but I couldn't get close enough to read the tag. The trailer is rather large and I was blocking traffic, so I had to get back in my car and move on. I did watch for a bit to see which house it went to when he ran off, but it kind of ran to a yard and then back out to the footpath again. I intend on going back without the trailer and bring a lead so I can catch it and contact the owner, but I really don't want the poor neglected thing handed back in that terrible shape. Is it against the law for me to groom it before returning it? What would you do?

I hope I get to keep Miley for a few more years. The thing that worries me is that her Mum had no warning signs. She was fine one day and then gone the next.

Wow 17 years, it must have been so hard saying good bye

I don't know what I am going to do when she crosses the bridge. Miley is the most BEST dog I have ever had the pleasure of meeting let alone having her as a part of my family. She is truly my heart dog. She NEVER barks, she doesn't have an aggressive bone in her body, is gentle with small animals including chickens and babies. She doesn't chew things up, she doesn't make any mess. She happily goes into a crate when we take her camping. She even happily sits in a stroller so I cant take her into the grocery store with me. I am too nervous to chain her up outside because I know someone would steal her, being that she is so awesome. The sad thing is that her mother died suddenly at 7 years of age. Any time over that I get with Miley is a bonus she is 7 years old now. I love her so much. I can't imagine ever finding another dog so perfect. What am I going to do?

If I didn't have to keep Miley in quarantine for months on end, I would have taken her to the US with me. -

Something I Noticed When I Was In The Usa

I often see dogs chained up outside shops while their owners go inside, but in the US they take their dogs in with them and it's welcomed. I even have a photo of a gift shop with a sign saying.. no food, no drinks, no strollers.. dogs welcome  -
I just got back from the US and while I was there I noticed comparatively that Victorians aren't really dog lovers at all. Over there dogs are welcome everywhere. They were being checked in at the airports in the same section as people unlike here where they are taken to the postal section and crated. They were welcome in clothing stores, gift shops, supermarkets, restaurants etc etc Walking around a place called Carmel in LA, almost everyone had a dog with them. In Victoria it's rare to find shops that allow dogs. You don't see many being walked in the city streets and there are "no dogs" signs everywhere. I didn't see a single no dogs allowed sign anywhere the entire 3 weeks I was in the USA. I'm not sure what it's like around the rest of Australia, but here in Vic it's just not as dog friendly as I would like it to be.

For the first time in the 4 years she has lived here, Miley has wandered off I have no idea how. The side gate was closed and in the past, the wind has blown it open, she has gotten out and sat at the front door waiting to be let in or for me to return home. (Only happened like 3 times). This morning I hadn't even noticed her missing (was still in PJ's getting breaky) and I got a phone call from someone who found her streets away. The guinea pigs who are allowed to roam in the yard, didn't get out but she did. It's so odd. She must have been let out of her crate by my husband in the early hours of the morning and gotten out then. Anyway, I got hubby to buy the person who found her, a box of chocolates as we didn't have any reward money as he lost his job without pay last week I think they were ok with that. I am so glad she had her collar and tag on and so glad she went through the bush rather than on the main road. Not sure why she wandered off.. I think she may be a bit jealous of the attention the baby is getting. Now that the weather is better and the baby's severe skin issues are under control, Miley will be getting out with us more. This past week was actually pretty good. She went to the park a couple of times and went for a few walks to the store with us. It was her grooming the week before last too which she loves. I hope she's not getting senile in her old age. She's only 8 years old, but her mother died at 6 or 7, so for her I guess 8 may be old.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Without Health Issues.

Mine has reverse sneezing and a heart murmur but my pug reversed sneezed too. She isn't even on medication for her heart murmur because it's low grade. She is around 8 years old and jumps around like a puppy still. I very rarely need to take her to the vet. -

Oscar is 3 months old, but still new in my eyes ;) he and Miley have a connection. Here's miley with our 2 guinea pigs. They co exist really well. The guinea pigs are able to roam free in the garden with Miley and Precious (the cat). Here's Miley having a wash today I hope you like :)

I'm afraid I agree. Sorry Snake catcher. I'm really surprised they are being found in the Franga and Seaford area. I really worry about them coming into my yard, although I have 2 guinea pigs who can't escape so I doubt a snake can get in.

DNA testing wouldn't be worth the time and money.. so many breeds have had other breeds as original foundation dogs. I 100% agree with what puppy_sniffer wrote. This pet shop didn't know what BSL was.. they looked at me blankly.
-
yes and yes. They are phoning the "breeders" to get permission to give my daughter "proof" of him being pure bred, We'll see.. won't hold my breath. She won't return him regardless.
-
I saw the "papers" and they were nothing... just transfer of ownership papers which said the breed is English Staffordshire. We went to the store to confront them today and when my daughter said to one of them.. remember me.. he said. yes, you bought a staffy CROSS You just put your foot in your mouth buddy. There were protestors outside for Oscars Law and police everywhere so maybe he was just flustered

I'll print this out and take it to the shop!!!
