Only because Pointeeblab said he needs meat now I am even more confuzzled I can't give him raw meat and if he doesn't need cooked meat, I will just keep doing what I am doing minus the rice and pasta and just give him a handful of kibble everyday mixed with vegies to fill him up.

Yep the kibble is for weight control, so I will just use that instead of any pasta or rice, but I mix it just to get him to eat the vegies which I puree. When I don't give him any kibble then how much cooked meat do you recommend giving him with the vegies?

I am getting conflicting advice I've been told to cut down on his meat and increase the vegies to fill him up. He can't eat raw meat because it makes him vomit.. this includes chicken necks and raw mince of any kind. I give him sardines and add small amount of pasta or rice or kibble, but the bulk of his diet are vegies at the moment. I don't want to make him sick

I'm doing both and going by eye also. I am just starting to feel the ribs..so he's nearly there.

OMG I can't even begin to imagine what you went through with those injuries Yep, Ollie got fat because of the treats my kids were giving him. I don't buy the dog biscuits or chocolates anymore so that problem is solved I've been dieting a couple more weeks longer than Ollie and my weight hasn't budged at all I wish I had his metabolism.

I am mainly giving him vegies except for when I am feeling lazy or it's a really hot night (like tonight), then I give him weight control kibble.. there are a few brands that have it.

Ollie has been on a diet for a couple of weeks and is looking awesome his breathing is much better now too.. but I am still afraid of walking him further than to the end of the street. I am getting a secondhand stroller off ebay so when I take him for walks, I can pop him in if he starts wheezing. I took a few pics tonight tell me what you think. Compared to the sig I reckon he's done great.

I don't allow my children to go to total strangers and ask for food and if they did (as toddlers it's common) I step in and redirect them... I guess the same goes for dogs.. the owners should call them away or bring their own treats. I still don't get why some dog owners allow their dogs to approach strangers and not be by their side the entire time.

Yup you are right and I did agree and apologise, it seems that has been ignored though. I have tattoo's and have been stereotyped on my appearance also, so I know how much it hurts.. when I get angry though, I don't think too clearly and just spout off whatever the heat didn't help much either. Oh and your great Dane is beautiful

Take what I say how you will the moral to the story is, I don't like it when people walk their dogs off leads and I will perceive and judge and stereotype the people who do, because it's my pet hate.

*meh* if he had his dog on a lead I probably would have thought he was hot. If there was an old bitty with a floral skirt on with lavender cardi walking her JRT off a lead I would have said.. stupid old git yada yada but if she used a lead I would have thought she was a dear old lady like my grandma.
