The past few days Miley has had this sad look she has slowed down so much. Her Mum was younger than she is, when she died. I am so worried this could be the start of the end I know she has a murmur, I just hope the vet can prescribe something so we can keep her longer. She is only around 8 years old.

Ok, I haven't seen one of those before. Her coat is kind of stringy, I could probably scissor it with thinners.

Yeh she is pink skinned but I wouldn't shave her off just clip her short.. if I actually do clip her. Persephone: It's for humans but totally organic and chemical free. It's mostly olive oil and apples She has lots of cool spots to lay in the heat, I was just finding an excuse to clip off her frizzy coat :p I'll see how the fish oil goes and I will keep applying oil to her coat.
-
I gave her sardines once and she vomited I'll get some fish oil and add it to her dinner.

and she smells like apples

I just sprayed organic hair shine with olive extract in her coat and it looks soooo much better

I wonder if olive oil on her coat will fix it?

You can kind of see what I mean if you look at her back thigh.

She has no under coat, I groom her heaps. A year ago she got matted and rather than put her through the pain of me taking each one out, I agreed to have her clipped by my grooming teacher. It's not that she has a fluffy undercoat, it's that her long coat isn't silky anymore. It used to be wavy but it's straighter now and looks dryer and not as shiny. Maybe it just need to grow longer and I am being inpatient. At least now she never gets knots, because I know what I am doing lol I'll show you a photo...brb

Miley doesn't get shown, so she doesn't really "have" to have a beautiful long silky coat. Her coat is pretty fluffy for some reason anyway.. it was clipped off a year ago and never grew back quite the same. It's going to be a hot Summer so I am considering taking her coat short again. Opinions? A vote maybe? lol

I would never use a check chain to tether The dog that fell was my very first that has done so. It shocked the hell out of me. He was a very difficult groom and I think he was a once a year wash type dog, with his fur sister there getting done also, so very distracted. It all happened so fast. I found when I put his collar on him and lead, even without tying it, he was much calmer, but once it came off he was all over the place. Anyway, I sent an email to the boss telling him my concerns and recommended another hydraulic table and to make sure dogs aren't left alone standing on tables. When I get called away I either bring the dog in arms or if it's a large dog, I take it off the table and put it in a crate or let it have a walk around the enclosed area. More work for the back, but peace of mind. I have also heard the no sit harnesses are great for when you are working on your own I have to order one for my own business. I was just working in the salon part time for more experience as I am only a year into it all. I have my own dog wash trailer.

I was doing a few shifts in a grooming salon and today I was fired after mentioning that my back was sore Anyway I only worked there 3 days and the first thing I noticed was that the dogs weren't tethered or harnessed to the tables and the groomers often walked away from the tables leaving the dogs just standing there When I did my certificates in professional grooming it was THE biggest no-no.. we couldn't even turn out back or look away and they were always tied up. They did have harnesses there, but nowhere to hang them so they weren't usable. Today when I was grooming a rather hefty dog, it jumped off the table while I was grooming a foot and I couldn't catch it in time and it flipped and landed on it's back. Luckily there was no injury to the dog.. I followed it to the back room and watched carefully for a limp or any signs of pain and there didn't seem to be any. My back however was a different story. I jarred it when trying to grab the 20kg dog mid fall. This wouldn't have happened had a harness or some type of tethering been used. Another thing that bothered me was that there was only 1 hydraulic table, so when that was in use, I was having to pick up many over fed hefty dogs onto tables also causing back strain. Would these things be picked up on a workplace safety check? Are there any actual rules in regards to these things? TIA

Thanks for the tips :) Yes grass seeds were another major issue. I will make an album for my clients and they can choose the feet they like :)

I have noticed many people with Cavaliers (the dog kind :p ) leave like moccasins on their feet. Miley used to have the hair on top of her feet left long too but it often got tangled and she would leave foot prints through the house after getting them wet. Since becoming a groomer I keep her feet trimmed and they look like Lab feet. If someone comes in with their CKC spaniel, would I trim the top of the feet or are they meant to be left long?

 it would have been pretty hilarious though.

 I wasn't really going to abduct him. I was going to go with him to the owners (assuming the address or phone number is on his tag) and let them know I found him wandering. I was then going to ask if they want their dog groomed or possibly rehomed if they can't afford to look after him.
-
That was the plan  I was going to groom him and return him with my card attached to his collar.
-
I would happily offer him a home.
-
I was so hoping you knew this dog. If you have him let me know and I will bring my trailer and at least give the poor thing a wash.
-
It's hard to know the quality of life unless you are there with her.
-
Well I went back and couldn't find her I drove around the streets and asked a couple of people who were walking. I will go back tomorrow and look again. I asked the people please check for a tag if they see her and to contact the owners.
-
That's a good idea. At least take before and after photos.
-
It would look totally different. There is no-way I could get a brush through.. it's a short clip job. I guess if she has contact details on the tag then they don't need to recognise it, they will know because I will tell them. If there are no contact details I guess I should just leave the poor thing in that state and take it to the pound

Also it was on Glen du Rd in Kilsyth if anyone around there knows of the dog?
