  1. on a side note... she actually adores my 2 year old lol she is following him around the house and sits next to him for a pat
  2. oh dear lol shearing a poodle like a sheep.. some people are incredible aren't they!
  3. My other dog eats natures gift, I will get some more tomorrow. I was worried it was too rich for her just yet. She was starved for 6 months.
  4. There won't be any litter happening here. I doubt my teacher will breed with her either (I hope not). The papers were offered to us, I never asked for them.
  5. she spent the first 15 months of her life in a great home and was trained really well. The past 6-7 months have been awful for her, but fortunately she is still a very sweet and gentle dog. There is something so special about this girl.. regardless of her breed.
  6. Oh dear, she blends in with my white tiles.. oops..sorry Rose.. again lol
  7. gawd.. I wouldn't breed. I am busy enough with my kids and pets as it is lol
  8. I wouldn't breed her.. my teacher may want to. Yes her papers are being sent. If she lives with me she will be desexed. We will decide on who keeps her in a couple of days.. nevertheless in 2 weeks she will be here.
  9. She hasn't met the other dog yet either which is iffy.. if they don't get along (her dog is nuts) I have her full time.
  10. She loves it here and there. I don't want her to be left alone and my Teacher goes away every couple of weeks. She is also always going to meetings and grooming etc I can be with her all day and she really is happy and chilling out.. my son is sleeping and all is quiet. It's quiet here during the day when he is at creche 3 days a week too. We will see how things go.. problem is we both want her.
  11. I would never leave my son alone with any pet.. he has a few behaviours that are undesirable to say the least :/ My teacher and I are "sharing custody" lol she is staying there 2 weeks a month and here every alternate. That way she gets socialised and has a better chance of rehabilitation and then gets to have a rest for 2 weeks. She is going to her other Mums house tomorrow actually :) she has already spent one night there and a full day here.. she is sleeping here tonight and then I will only see her during the day at Tafe for the next 2 weeks. After that my teacher will be in QLD for 2 weeks.
  12. Ok the meat and eggs together sounds good. The kibble she has is good quality but it must still have preservatives or some crap that has bad side effects.
  13. ok cool I will give it a go. Thanks
  14. I have a very malnourished poodle here and I want to put some weight on her and would like to know any good recipes or things to feed her to help with that please :) She loves raw chickens necks and pigs ears but dog food makes her fart something terrible.
  15. Dogmad, I guess charging the $300 would prevent just anyone taking her. If you are willing to pay, you are serious about the care IMO. I wonder had the girl I have got sold rather than given away, she wouldn't have been neglected. I wish people went through rescue organisations when re-homing, unless it's to someone you know well. She is seeing the vet tomorrow. I wormed her today. Not sure about desexing as yet.. she was meant for breeding to start with, but not sure how long it will be before she has recovered enough from the trauma she has suffered before going through having a litter etc My crate is too small for her but I will get a bigger one tomorrow. She is outside with Miley while the family eats dinner and then she can come in to eat when my 2 year old goes to bed.
  16. Oh yes brace yourself because I will spam the shit out of her here hahaha
  17. She will be 2 in September :) if it gets too stressful for her here with my busy household, she can take breaks away with my grooming teacher who doesn't live far.
  18. Yesterday I got a frantic phone call off a woman who had re-homed her poodle 7 months ago to what she thought was a loving home. She got a phone call from a pound nowhere near the suburb where the new family lived. The microchip info hadn't been transferred but she had the details of the new owners so called.. phone was turned off so she went for the hour drive to their home and the house had been vacated. The pound said if she didn't come in and collect her, she would be PTS today. So, she went into the pound and paid the fee to get her out. What she saw on arrival broke her heart and shocked her. This well groomed pedigree Poodle was now a filthy, flea ridden, malnourished matted sad dog. She was going to give her to a mutual friend to foster her as she is moving overseas in 2 weeks but she needed her groomed first, which is why she called me (I'm a groomer). When I saw her I was disgusted. She couldn't even poo as her entire bum was just a huge matted mess.. I couldn't even distinguish her tail from her bum. The smell was just indescribable. I was having trouble getting the mats of her legs and tail so I called up my grooming teacher and begged her to come and help me. Once she saw the original photos of her before she was re-homed and neglected, she was keen to help out ;) After 3 hours, the very patient, gentle, heart melting girl was clean and clipped, de flead and fed. I can't believe the pound allowed her to stay in the condition for an entire week So, now my teacher and I have shared custody of her. I took her for a walk on the lead today and she did really well, however, she became afraid crossing the main road and I had to pick her up and carry her. I won't be able to do that once she is at her correct weight lol she is a standard not a mini. I also walked passed her while she was eating a pigs ear and she snapped at my leg not realising it was me. She is very jumpy from the obvious abuse she has suffered. I have a 2 year old son too so I need to watch them very closely and never allow him near her while she is eating. Miley (CKCS) has taken to her well which didn't surprise me as she is very easy going. I have these photos.. she gets a proper groom at Tafe tomorrow so don't judge her haircut for now LOL
  19. Oh cool, I thought that's what had happened. I will get some today.
  20. I've been using Advantage for 5 years, it worked until this year. I adopted a cat who come with little "extras" The cats don't have fleas anymore, it's just Miley for some reason. I can't flea bomb the house until we go away in a few weeks. I have a toddler here with allergies and eczema, I can't risk it.
  21. Miley got fleas this year for the first time (she is 8) and I have treated her and her skin looks healthy and clear but she is still scratching like mad. She has had a flea wash, cap star tablet and Advantage drops, but there is still flea dirt every few days. Even when there are no fleas to be seen, she is still scratching. I also change her bedding and do the carpets. I checked her skin to see if she had a rash and there isn't anything. I am at my wits-end with this. Please help.
  22. Thanks. She is going to the vet tomorrow so hopefully he gives some good news.
