Miley was scratched in the eye by my neighbours dog the other day and it got very inflamed the next day and she could hardly open her eye. It was so bad I was worried she was going to lose her eye Anyway, her pupil was tiny and fixed from an apparent abscess in or behind her eye? Does that sound right? She had a scratch on her pupil but the infection I couldn't see. The vet gave me drops to dilate her pupil to relieve the pressure and pain. I gave her 2 drops over 4 hours and it's been 3 days and her pupil is still very very dilated. I am wondering when it will go back to normal? How long do the drops normally take to wear off? She's been on oral and topical antibotics which seem to have cleared everything up. She's also on ant-inflammatory medicine for pain but doesn't seem to be in any pain at all now either. So the only thing that it concerning me now is this darn dilated pupil Any thoughts?

Ollie used to attracted heaps of attention. Everyone was in love with his pushed in snorty little face Now that I only have Miley, people still make comments on what a lovely natured dog she is, but she doesn't really attracted attention like Ollie did.

What Breed Do You Think This Dog Is?

Cattle dog for shnizzle. -
No that's cool, I hope you find a solution for you dogs skin issue

Ear infection

I think I'd rather a dog get some water attention and a pat under those circumstances. It must be frightening to have a long trip like that in a cage with no interaction.

I reported that same place to the RSPCA last year.

Apparently each vet has a different promotion and you have to ask what their IF period is at the time.

I have a GE card too and have bought 4 beds, 2 computers, 3 TV's, 2 vacuum cleaners, 2 sofas, 2 coffee tables, 1 wardrobe, 2 desks and a TV unit over the past 10 years and I have never paid 1 cent of interest ;) I always make sure I pay things off in the interest free period and will do so with the care card too. The admin fee is $25 and then they charge something like $2 for the invoice once a month only when there is money owing. If you have all of the funds sitting in the card you pay no fees.

Yeh I know what you mean.. Ollie came with some bad habits that were hard to break. Miley was lead aggressive when she came to me also, but she was easy to re train. I guess it also depends on the breed as some are less stubborn ans easier to re train then other breeds. I love pups but can't stand the chewing everything up and shitting everywhere phase

If I ever get another dog it would be an adult.

Thanks for that info Staff'n'toller. He wasn't making mad dashes anywhere and he refused to give pain meds and stop the bleeding until we could get the blood. He could have saved Misty.. she took her own life to save another and the whole town knew about it within hours. He should have made more of an effort rather than holding a grudge towards my husband for something stupid he did as a kid.

13 years ago a dog my mine ran out into the road and pushed a Maltese out of the way of a passing car.. saved it's life but she got hit herself. We took her to the vet and he did xrays etc and said she had internal bleeding and a broken pelvis. These are fixable injuries, but because the Vet knew my husband and didn't like him, he refused to do surgery even though we could get him the money the next day. He said we had to leave our dog there to get blood for her but she would probably be dead by the time we get back. He would have had blood there.. it's a Vet surgery for goodness sake. DH had been drinking and couldn't drive and I couldn't bring myself to leaving Misty in case she died while I was gone. The cold hearted bastard of a vet watched me hold her in my arms sobbing while she coughed up blood and whimpered in pain. I couldn't stand to watch her in so much agony any longer and he refused to treat her, so I agreed to let them PTS It was the worst day of my life. When the prick sent me a bill the next week for the xrays and injection, I told him to take me to court if he wanted his money. He never sent another bill after that. Suffice to say 80% of the people in the town refused to go to him after what he did. Not sure if he's still in business.. I doubt it though.

My vet was unaware of the product and was grateful when I told them about it. They are looking into setting it up themselves

My vet doesn't take it, but there are a few others in the area which do, so I'll book her in for tomorrow. They gave me a $6k limit, so she can even get hit by car and I can pay I hope I didn't just jinx her :/

Oh and it's been approved straight away.. I can walk into any vet with this print out which offers this promotion and she can be seen and treated. I'm so relieved.

Woohooo I got care credit Thanks so much for telling me about this. Miley's ears will love you forever ♥
-
dyzney thanks so much for your kind offer. I will contact GE finance and see if they can approve a card for the vet and if not I may take you up on your very generous offer ♥
-
I have GE finance card but the minimum is $400 per purchase, so that's no good. I phoned the vet back and the one I normally see is in surgery, so she asked one I haven't seen before and was firmly told no. The woman on the phone said to phone after 5pm when the vet I always see is available. Fingers crossed he will say yes. If not then I will just have to wait 2 weeks and pray no damage is done.

I'll phone and ask to speak to the vet.

I've known about the camp for a while and $100 was made 2 weeks ago.. around the same time I had to get school books, uniforms and pay for this stupid netbook thing they all have to have. It seems it's all come it at once. Normally I can find the cash for things like this, but things are really tight right now.
-
I don't have a credit card I offered to pay a deposit, but the girl on the phone said they don't do accounts anymore.

Miley seems to have an infection of some type in her ears. I've been told it will cost up to $150 to get them fixed (consultation and medication) but my vet no longer does accounts. I used always pay my vet bills over a couple of weeks and it's never been a problem. I've always paid and they've never needed to chase it up. It seems because of a few bad people, they can no longer do this so now I am left with a sick dog who can't have treatment ;) I phoned Lort Smith and their quote was even higher She NEEDS treatment for her ears and I can't afford it I have to come up with $100 before Wednesday for my DD's school camp so I simply won't have the cash for another 2 weeks. Is it cruel to let it wait so long? She doesn't seem to be in pain and isn't scratching or anything anymore (since I got the wax out), but her ears still smell. I had an appointment to get her anal glands done this week and when I phoned them say I had done it on my own and would like her ears checked instead, they said it was only an appointment with the vet nurse, so it was cancelled. I made another booking for next Friday, but when I phoned today to bring it forward and I asked how much it would probably be, I told them I would need to pay it off and that's when I was told they no longer do that. It seems only wealthy people can afford to have pets these days. What should I do?

Nah! I don't want any money for it. PM me your details and I'll post it off to you when I can get to the post office. I have a dodgy knee at the moment and have to stay off it as much as possible. Are you allowed to send dog cologne through the post? I know we can't post perfume. I guess if they don't know what the post bag contains they can't do much about it. I didn't know about the perfume.. I got perfume oil sent to me a few weeks ago from the UK and it was open and inspected and sent still.

Might be her anal glands, ear infection or skin issue.. it's a vet trip case ;) Miley had full anal glands.. stopped her butt dragging after I emptied them, but the smell was still there. I sniffed around her and realised it was her ears. They were full of wax, so I bought some dog ear drops.. no wax now, but still the smell. She's going on antibiotics next week when I have the cash as she has an infection.
