  1. Impressive entry for Group 1 & 3 I received my entries on Monday too... I would ring the secretary if you don't have yours yet. (I entered online)
  2. Yes, my puppy Sonnet "RBISS Airebis Moonlit Diamond Night" won best puppy in show. Thank you very much Bindi for taking & showing him. I was working all day & very pleased when I received your phone call when I finished. Congratulations to all winners :-p
  3. Just want to wish all the Junior handlers the best of luck in the state finals I'll be cheering
  4. Responsible reputable registered breeders will provide papers with every puppy! They should also be able to answer your questions regarding the breed, provide breed history and discuss the characteristics of the adult dog. You should be able to see one or both parents. My advice is ask many questions of the breeder, find out how often they breed and if they are involved in dog activities. If you get the opportunity go and watch them to see what kind of interaction they have with their dogs. All the best with finding a new addition to your family
  5. Thank you Tobster Sonnet seems to be on a roll with taking Res Dog & Puppy in Show at the 50th Anniversary SA Samoyed Speciality and now the National... it might have something to do with all those cuddles he received in SA
  6. Thank you Nynka It is very competitive in Victoria, we do have the strongest club in members as well as dogs exhibitored on a regular basis. I love the National as it is such a great opportunity to catch up with everyone and see Samoyeds from around Australia.
  7. Thank you Sway - I was very happy to receive your message last night I think you do a fabulous job in organising fundraisers - hope the Dane club appreciates everything you do Congratulations to all the winners

  16. oh Jed, my heart goes out to you every dog makes a place in our hearts, but I think Magnus holds a very special place. He was one of a kind and such a grand little man who will always be remembered by many of us I am sure. A fabulous boy with so many wonderful tales to tell. I enjoyed reading your tribute to him, with tears rolling down my face and a smile and giggle at his intelligence, cheeky antics and bravery. Run free beautiful Mr Magnus, make sure you keep everyone in line, and have fun chancing those birds
  17. Good afternoon Jed The sun is finally shining in Melbourne, but it is extremely chilly Have just lit 2 candles
  18. Thank you goldchow for the update, so glad to hear Jed is improving! I am sure she is overwhelmed, but she is an inspiration.
  19. BIS is a must so thanks for the tip :D I love shopping (normally impluse buy), but will make sure I get a map to go back I am scared I will buy everything I see We are planning Crufts at the start of the trip... maybe we should make it at the end, with all the shopping I sound like I'll be doing. Thank you so much for the info on DwD. Did you watch any of them? If so what did you like best? The only places we are set on going are England, Ireland, Italy and Dubai I do want to see as much as possible I went to the USA in 2005, and that was a long trip... I keep forgetting it is going to be nice & cold when we arrive so I will make sure I have my Samoyed scraf and a warm jacket prepared. Thank you so much everyone for the tips and advice, it will make us get the most out of it
  20. I've saved the website as a favorite so I can keep up to date The Mary Ray demo just before the BIS judging I am told is a must see, so if all else fails I will make sure I get to see this. Thanks for the tips - big help, I think I am going to be overwhelmed.... so much to do and see I won't know where to begin.
  21. I'm not even sure that is always true anymore, I know in my breed a lot of the top dogs and their handlers are advertised heavily world-wide. My pet hate is spending time and money going under a judge to find they are judging faces and not dogs. This is extremely disapointing, especially as it is generally so obvious. Win or lose I like walking out of the ring knowing the judge made a decision on the dog and not the handler. I tend to find International judges (more often than not) judge the dogs, decide on what appeals to them and their interpretation of the standard and tend to have consistancy in their judging because it is all about the dog. At the end on the day we have a breed standard, but no matter where the judge is from it comes down to their opinion of the best dog that fits the standard, you may not take home everything but it I think you should give internationals a go even if the breed it's recognised in their home country there is a good chance they have judged some where that your breed is recognised. It's the joy of showing, it is nice not knowing who will win! Good luck if you decide to enter.
  22. Thanks PAX for the great tips, will keep the hilton & crown in mind. I have a Navman so I will make sure I download the maps before I leave. SmoothieGirl that is great to know, as I would hate to miss it... Puglvr I think we will fly Emirates or alike as I really would love to stop in Dubai on the way home :D I think we are planning on going over for approx 4 weeks, so I am trying to work out what countries to visit. So many choices...
  23. I live with 5 beautiful Sammy's but will complete for my special two kids Name: Shimmer "Aust Ch Airebis Kissed by Moonlite" Nickname: "Shimmeroo", Rookid", "Shim shim", "Little lizzy", "the princess" Breed: Samoyed Gender: Female Age: 28 months Picture: (will upload later, unable to do it at work ) Where did you get them from? We bred her How often do you exercise your dog? Daily Do they know any commands? Yes, all show commands, as well as sit, stay, jump up (which is one leap into my arms), shake hands, talk Compete in any dog sports? She has done a little herding (passed her instinct, we really should train for trails ), done a touch of agility too. Favourite treat: pigs ears Favourite toy: Shimmer has over 40 toys (spoilt much), so every month it is different, her brother Inka enjoys steeling them from her... such a boy! Funny habits or quirks: every morning I am greeted with a toy, she then proceeds to try and talk with the toy still in her mouth. At the moment her speciality is dancing at shows though What's their personality like? Shimmer is full on energy and could play all day, but also very much enjoys her cuddles. She just loves being with me! Do they get along well with other dogs? Yes, Shimmer has many friends Are they scared of anything? Nope, she takes everything in her stride What training methods do you use? Positive reinforcement? Corrections? I don't do obedience, but positive reinforcement is what I use Name: Sonnet "Airebis Moonlit Diamond Night (AI)" Nickname: "Mr Cuddles", "Sondog", but lately "the gremlin" Breed: Samoyed Gender: Male Age: just turned 8 months Picture: (to be posted later) Where did you get them from? We also bred Sonnet, his father is a NZ Champion who is a UK Import :p so he is a special kid. How often do you exercise your dog? daily Do they know any commands? Show commands, though he has forgotten heel lately Compete in any dog sports? Not yet... still considering his career path he is being shown and currently top Samoyed rising star nationally Favourite treat: Chicken, chicken and more chicken Favourite toy: Any he can steel from Shimmer Funny habits or quirks: Don't know where to begin, but everyday there is something new What's their personality like? Super intelligent, with loads of charisma - a happy man, who loves everyone and everything Do they get along well with other dogs? sure does, including other males, even though he discovered girls early, he enjoys cuddling with my boy inka & others. Are they scared of anything? water off a ducks back ;) nothing fazes him What training methods do you use? Positive reinforcement? Corrections? Positive reinforcement
  24. Do exhibitors in Brisbane dress the benches? Most do in Melbourne, but when I went to Sydney last year I found most people didn't.
  25. I'm sure she adored every pat you gave her. Treasure the wonderful memories! My thoughts are with you
