  1. Basically anywhere the humans are or anything a human sits on! On the swing seat on someone's lap on the red sofa On the brown sofa
  2. MY GSP ;) but you can't have him. Ohhhh...GSP's will guard? I would not take yours. I'm sure I could find my own. :p You could try, but I bet you won't find one like MINE :D He is my third and I've never know a GSP pup who has no desire to go for a walk when he can sleep on someone's lap, bed, couch etc etc etc. I actually think he is broken.....but I don't want him fixed! Sometimes the broken ones are the best. ;) Yep, this one definately is!

  4. Ditto. will swap broken husband for another GSP....any takers?
  5. Excellent news! I've just got house sitters for December through Happy House Sitters and from what I have read on their site it seems there are quite a few people who are able to house sit and take their dogs with them. So glad it looks like you got something ;)
  6. Just thought I'd let you know the happy house sitters site is down at the moment but they are working in fixing it. Forgot to add the best thing about the house sit is its free! we have someone looking after our house and pup for 3 weeks and it doesn't cost us a thing.
  7. Try www.happyhousesitters.com.au
  8. I got Hugo's (GSP) from Big W for about $35. They are great and he snuggles into them (he has two!) and I have washed both the outer cover and the foam stuff inside in the washing machine with no problems. He's a now 8 months old and one fits him fine. Can PM you photo if you want to see what it looks like. Alternatively I think there is a photo of one of them in his crate on the GSP thread. ETA ...added photo.
  9. Have you thought about house sitting. I have recently come across happy house sitters and there are people there who go from one house sit to another some for six months to a year. Many of them appear to have dogs with them too and still manage to get house sits even taking their own dog with them. It might at least get you something in the short term anyway. www.happyhousesitters.com.au Good luck
  10. I hope the housesitting works out well for you also. I am also registered with Happy House Sitters and it seems to be a good site, although finding a housesit where you can take your own pet is near impossible. Oh well. Keep us informed with how it goes! GDS Fan, don't give up hope. One of the people who contacted me had their own dog and they have been able to house sit for several people and take their own dog so there are people out there that will do it. They said they haven't had any problems to date and that they usually meet on neutral ground well in advance of the house sit to see how the dogs are together. I guess it depends on the individual and the mix of dogs.
  11. I just put an ad on Happy House sitters this afternoon and have already recieved one inquiry to sit for us and look after our dog for 3 weeks and it will cost us nothing, were as a place like Don't fret pet will cost about $35 per day for your dog to go to a carers house so I am hoping that this happy house sitter thing works out for us.
  12. Oh my goodness, that red stuffing does look very realistic. I made my own skinneez a couple of days ago. Just bought some fur fabric and made sort of flat animal shapes and machined around edges. He loves them. They are affectionately known now as his 'roadkill' toys! He loves throwing them around and giving them the death shake!
  13. we have had good success with dolomite lime (as suggested by other DOLers). I don't sprinkle it on the grass though, but I put it in the garden beds where the poop goes after picking it up off the lawn. I was desperate to find something because I could smell our garden from the street and now I can't so I think its working. Apparently its good for the garden too. THere are different limes, so you have to make sure you get the dolomite lime, so I've been told. if you search for it here there have been a few discussions about it. the packet I have said to sprinkle on then water in , but I've just spinkled over the garden beds and left it (because my pup doesn't go anywhere near it, but someone said it was safe around dogs but still best to check)
  14. These look awesome......where did you get them from??? I'm always peforming "surgery' here. Some last longer than others. For some reason the really cheap IKEA rat is still totally intact...well apart from a little end piece of tail missing, where as the purple elephant had multiple amputations before he was too far gone. I would definately like to try some skinneez though if I can find where to buy from.
  15. I had that site bookmarked for when I had the $'s to buy one. They were $48 the other week but I too have now seen they are back up to $62. Will just have to check back every now and again to watch for when they get put on special again.
  16. Yeh sure. Here it is www.petsitaus.com.au We can offer any length of care you require. Just let Kerry know what your requirements are and she can match you to the right person. Good luck! thank you! going to have a look at site now. ETA...have emailed Kerry. Thanks GSD FAN
  17. GSD fan can you give me website address of the Pet sitter service you have mentioned. Do they do longer term care....I am looking for someone to have my pup for 3 weeks at the end of the year and don't really want to put him in a Kennel.
  18. after yesterday I now have to add large Kong Wubba's to Hugo's list of kills. Within 5 minutes of it being delivered and given to one excited puppy he had managed to get through the stiching and fabric and destroyed the top tennis ball. I removed offending tennis ball and performed surgery on the remains of the kong wubba. By the afternoon the remaining squeaker ball had been de-squeaked (which wasn't necessarily a bad thing as it was of a "squeakness" that made him howl at the same time he squeaked it ). More surgery was performed and he now has a very deformed and tattered Kong Wubba.... Maybe it was because it was a purple wubba....he has a thing about purple....his purple rabbit became legless and armless within a short space of time too!
  19. DA, please tell me you have a photo of the fridge surfing????!!!!! :D
  20. wettex dish cloths. No idea why but he loves them. we have to make sure they are placed behind the sink where he can't reach them. However having 3 kids means it doesn't always happen. I once went through 3 packs in a week....thats nine dish cloths
  21. Lyndsay, "Bucket o Beef" stock Uncle Albers 22kg for $28 delivered to your door, although not sure where you live so not sure about their delivery policy, so you could give them a ring. Alternatively you can pop into their shop which is at St Mary's (Just off of South Rd)
  22. Dover gardens obedience club has a puppy school inside their clubs rooms one night a week. from memory, your annual membership fee gives you the ability to attend puppy school and then graduate outside the obdedience club with all the other dogs.
  23. aaaahhhh, now I know why my GSP only does things when he hears the word "Fritz"!
  24. OK, I have to come to the Adelaide DOL get togethers now just to meet Earl....he's adorable
