Yeh that whole thing was just nuts! I don't know if you have facebook but there's some AMAZING ones on there (amateur and professional), one in particular of the flooding in East Perth...just crazy stuff
-
Is he deaf? Ha! Nope! He's either in that 'selective hearing' puppy stage... or just REALLY lazy... i'm gonna go with the latter... Just curled up on my lap and snoozed away... while the water was gushing through the door

Ha Loraine you beat me to it, was just about to mention the Synergy refund! We only just got our power back late this morning, my car is dented (but not much worse than is was before, they fit right in! lol) and the front part of our house got flooded but not complaining since there are a LOT of people who were FAR worse off... UWA Arts and Humanities (i think) library got flooded, it's underground so all the books were destroyed, and all the stained glass windows in the hall were broken... Chester, however, didn't seem to mind the weather one bit! He slept through it!

I know it's not much help, but maybe a little consolation... Chester does it too

The Latest Addition To Our Motley Crew!
thornliegirl replied to MavericksMission's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh he is AWESOME! -
Chester learnt pretty quick that if he didn't move when we did, he'd get squished I think he prefers sleeping on the bed with us because it reminds him of being part of a pack (where they'd all sleep together...). I only get concerned about his joints i.e. when he gets up and gets off the bed.... so we're getting him a ramp

We only saw pictures of Winchester 'Chester' before we got him and in ALL of them he looked like he was giving you the evils. So "Winchester" after the brothers from Supernatural it was! -
16 Week Puppy Wakes Up At 4am And Won't Go Back To Sleep
thornliegirl replied to springer11's topic in Puppy Chat
Hi Springer, here's my input... tough it out. We got Chester about 4 weeks ago now and we (actually, me) made the silly mistake of giving in to him (as we were also conscious of the neigbours) after the OH leaves for work at 4am. I did it twice and from then on it made his crying SO SO SO much worse.......and now he sleeps on the bed and whines if he's on the floor, not physically ON the bed So unless you want pup on the bed with you... tough it out. Good Luck -
Fletcher is a lucky boy! Glad you're okay :D

Hi BooBooBear, Ignore him. Chester has been with us a week and after the first couple of days the OH had to go back to work and when he leaves he wakes Chester up and after that, he starts going nuts. So STUPID me let him in the bedroom....... and now he ALWAYS (well, so far) goes nuts to come in with me after the OH leaves, because I let him know that the way he was behaving led him to get what he wanted (to be in with me).

Chester just discovered ice. Knocked over my frozen water bottle while I was on the treadmill, thought it was great so I gave him a little bit and he had a ball! Now he keeps running to the freezer...

Do Your Dog/s Reflect Their Sex?

Everone thinks Chester is a girl.... until they get him exited and he starts trying to 'have his way' with their leg... -
Maybe try posting at the other Uni's? There's always people at ECU looking for a place. Or offer to host an International student?

It would depend on if your pup is vaccinated or not when he goes. Just got our pup last week, and i'm going back to work Monday. For me it would be a no, I wouldn't want to take the risk until I know his vaccinations are ok.

QUESTIONS 1. What is my relationship with the breed? (ie breeder, first time owner etc) Very proud first time owner and writing this from the perspective of owning a 12 week old CKCS pup 2. Where and why was the breed first developed? That's one to ask a breeder but I believe it was essentially to warm laps for royalty? 3. How common is it in Australia? They're a very common breed that are being exploited by puppy mills and BYB's. 4. What is the average lifespan? About 12 years, health permitting. 5. What is the general temperament/personality? Based on my own experiences with Chester and other Cavaliers i've met, they're very laid back but love a good rumble occassionally. Chester is a very 'go with the flow' kinda pup, he's happy doing whatever we're doing (active or inactive) as long as he's around us. 6. How much daily exercise is needed for the average adult? Not too sure, i'll edit when I find out 7. Is it a breed that a first time dog owner could easily cope with? Being one, yes. He's been SO easy to train because he just wants to please you. 8. Can solo dogs of this breed easily occupy themselves for long periods? For short periods yes, but not for more than say 4 hours. 9. How much grooming is required? Even as a puppy, he's needing a brush every day. He moults quite a bit but it's not an issue provided he's trained to enjoy his grooming sessions. He also needs his ears cleaned each week or two and a bath every couple of weeks. 10. Is it too boisterous for very small children or for infirm people (unless the dog is well trained)? Nope, he's already been exposed to a lot of kids and all he wants to do is smother them with love I once saw an old lady in an electric wheelchair thing at the movies with her little CKCS in the basket at the front, when the movie started he jumped up and sat on her lap 11. Are there any common hereditary problems a puppy buyer should be aware of? Mitral Valve Disease, Hip Displaysia, Spyrom-something something. Always ask for heart clear certificates for the sire and the dam of your prospective puppy. 12. When buying a puppy, what are the things you should ask of the breeder? (eg what health tests have been done (if applicable) and what is an acceptable result to those tests so the buyer has an idea of what the result should be) As above. And i'd like to add, buy from a Registered breeder!!! There's so many ads in newspaper for 'purebreeds' and 'crossbreeds' of CKCS, make sure the person you buy from is a dead set certified breeder.

Phew! So it is just over protective mum syndrome He's 12 weeks, first pup raised by me alone so I guess i'm just used to the older dogs my folks have p.s. Cazwah, Chestnut is gorgeous

Allo! This could quite possibly be me being an overprotective mother and I know puppies need a lot of rest but..... Meet Chester. He's been home with us for 4 days now and the first day he was practically bouncing off the walls with energy, wanting to interact with everything. Now, we'll play with him for maybe 20 mins and then he's out like a light for maybe an hour and a half or more, sometimes up to almost 3 hours. And when i'm doing things around the house, he'll follow but as soon as I stop he'll just flop down and rest I'm thinking it could be that he's getting into the routine of having a play and then a sleep but is it normal for him wanting to sleep THIS much? Am going to see how much he eats tonight for his dinner, just to check incase it MIGHT be some sort of virus Any thoughts?
