  1. How long is it generally until a steward collects a dog?
  2. Thanks guys - that is exactly what I wanted to know- how many dogs break in novice line-ups (not necessarily your own if you don't want to admit it ). Keen to hear from others as well.
  3. Sorry this is a bit of a vague question, but how often did (or do) you find dogs broke their stays in novice?
  4. I'm not sure why it happens, perhaps the adult tooth doesn't come through directly on top of the other + the deciduous tooths' root does not resorb as it should. We have taken out quite a few deciduous teeth with amazingly strong roots. It's very common in small breeds though. I would definitely remove them/it.
  5. Lovely pics LP and congrats on Kinta's title.
  6. We have about 4 staple removers floating around the clinic, they're great for pulling staples off food bags as well.
  7. Run a full blood profile on her before the GA. It's the only way you will find out how the liver/kidneys are doing. ETA if you're worried about heart, then you can always request an ECG as well.
  8. Advantix by Bayer is the best thing, apply once a month and repels sandflies, stable flies, blowies and mozzies all over the dog. We have 2 labs at work who used to suffer terribly and we use it over the summer for them. I used it on my old kelpie who got lots of bites to the ear tips it was fantastic. The flies just land then 2 seconds later they fly away. Anything else is a waste of time and money IMO.
  9. This is the very best document I have found on introducing babies and existing dogs. Let me know if you have trouble downloading it. Newbaby___dog_protocol_Dr_Karen_Overall.pdf
  10. Cool....I love the part where he says he is at the park and there is a dog there "with the darkness around him". ;) Lovely way to put it hehehe.
  11. I was loving it but now I'm up to the part where he gets arrested...not loving it so much anymore. ;)
  12. Are you entering Leo? Thought I might come and watch since it's close.
  13. Seems like your next steps are to have a phone/web consult with a Vet Behaviourist (probably SABS is your best bet but whoever is registered to work in the NT) and have them review the blood results. And/or have an MRI/PET Scan done to see if there is any other physiological reason. If nothing shows up in the medical reports then it seems as though she will need a drastic change of routine and boundaries but you need someone qualified to design this for you based on a thorough history and also someone that provides phone support should you run into difficulties. If you have the means to fly her it may be worth finding a Specialist Centre who have imaging facilities and a Behaviourist on site or fairly close together in location. Mel.
  14. Welcome back pewithers...blast from the past. You'd be better off putting this in the breeders subforum but you can't reply unless you are approved.
  15. Reward based. Heathmont Vet Hospital for further details.
  16. Right now I'm reading 'The Art of Racing in the Rain' so going by what the dog says in it, Leo et al may be watching exactly what's going on. They may just be more interested in other programs lol.
  17. Fair enough about the swimming. I had the same sort of thing with Geordie I put him in the pool at 6 months and he hated it. Lots of work at the dam and a long break from the pool, now he is crazy about the pool...not sure what goes on in his little head he is like a demon possessed. I agree it won't do much for rear end awareness though.
  18. I have a colleague in Heathmont if they are interested.
  19. Is he swimming regularly? If you used somewhere like the pool at Woofpurnay with no float coat he'd have no choice but to use his back end to keep himself afloat.
  20. I would come along, pretty sure I might be able to register some interest through my walking/training group also.
  21. You also must put a few rounds of elastoplast (tensoplast) probably 5cm or 7.5cm width around the top of the bandage to hold it, there's just no way it will stay on otherwise. Not the most comfortable thing for the dog but your vet should have adhesive remover liquid to get it off later. If they don't or can't get it you can get adhesive remover wipes prepackaged at the chemist warehouse. I have it in my first aid kit for getting chewy out of SWF's or off dogs paws. Erny: It took me a good half hour to find those pics!
  22. It's actually nothing special just thin strips of elastoplast you apply half the length to the paw then you apply the first lot of bandaging, bring the tape upwards on itself and it holds the rest of the bandaging materials in place.
