  1. What's with the food?? Sincere praise is all you need Sue, sincere praise....
  2. So you do a membership application for an ordinary membership, then once you've got your m/ship number you fill out an associate dog form? DogsVic Forms
  3. It isn't under control just yet but hopefully soon. http://osom.cfa.vic.gov.au/public/osom/IN_COMING.rss There are lots of grey clouds here in the Dandenongs but not much else.
  4. She is a STUNNER! Can't wait to see her coat as she grows. :D
  5. She may be best to call around a couple of the Vet Clinics in Lilydale and ask them if they recommend any. There are lots of mobile services around but as a clinic we tend to only recommend to one lady who we know is good, from clients feedback.
  6. Thanks! I don't view sigs coz often I am browsing on my phone and it's extra KB's so I forget it's there.
  7. Tonight's topic is 'why actually weave when you can just run alongside 'em???'
  8. I buy them from our Veterinary wholesaler so you can always just call your Vet and ask them to special order them in.
  9. Male Kelpie x desexed @ 6mths, awesome attitude, trained to advanced obedience and protection. Would work all day, picked up things with great speed and accuracy. Female Stafford desexed @ 2yrs, will also work for long periods, learns fast but accuracy not so great- would probably be better with some clicker work but has a low frustration index. Male Toller desexed @ 2.5yrs, learns at lightening pace but retention is another matter. Or should I say....learns it the right way then likes to do it different *just because* I would have sworn this was BS if someone had said their dog does it before I got Geordie! Spends a bit of his time looking for the girls, or smells of girls, or "look at that birdie over there!!" ad infinitum. :p I also live with a Kelpie x Bull Terrier girl and work with a Labrador girl and boy and the boy Lab can be a goofball too. I will be getting girl dogs for the forseeable future. :p
  10. You'll probably find there were quite a few clinics that treated burns victims pro bono, a couple of the major wholesalers also set up a fund whereby inner suburbs clinics could donate cash, and those clinics treating bushfire victims could order exactly what they needed in the way of supplies (bandages, creams, IV fluids etc.) from the proceeds of the funds, so it was pretty awesome.
  11. I have one that sits around here doin nothing TSD so you can borrow it anytime you need....I'm just at the bottom of the hill. :D
  12. I'm guessing that even if there was close to complete silence she would still be complaining because there is probably more to it (i.e. she doesn't like dogs and would rather just enjoy the grassy view ). However, I have trained with the agility group in the past and it is super noisy being in the next ring. No offence intended but I wonder if you could do a major overhaul of how you run the flyballers training and do a full audit of dogs (who may not even be in flyball btw) who sit in cars and spend much of their time at the club barking due to people walking past etc. I understand that team training is just as much for the social aspect for the humans but I wonder if you couldn't give each team a 20min timeslot then the noisy dogs have to go in the car or be taken home. How much barking do the instructors dogs do? (I don't know) Inevitably instructors dogs sit in the car or their crates getting highly aroused but don't get to run until the end...maybe they only come to their own team training, or get brought along by the instructor's OH's at the end. :D I have myself witnessed a SWF in beginners training who barked non-stop for the whole hour it's not good for the dog, and it's not good for the dogs around him, as a trainer I know he can still do flyball without the noise ;) maybe some of the newbies and some of the oldies with dogs that bark permanently need to be told to make some changes or do more control work with their dogs. Just a few suggestions, from an innocent bystander :D I think if you can show the council you are aware of her concerns and are making changes you might get your shed. I know it's a lot harder with Flyball dogs but at another agility club I train at it's strict rules about how the dogs are handled and where they are kept in between classes and during setup/packup. There is next to no noise and OMG it's bliss to train there. Dogs that are high on adrenalin don't learn well anyway, they can't focus and their chance of injury is highly increased due their pain thresholds.
  13. Be careful with them, you may want to check deductions from your account and put a block on debits to them for now until it's all sorted. You are so right though, all the expensive stuff happens after 8 years of age and that's when you need it.
  14. In which joint is the arthritis and did you have xrays done at the beginning?
  15. Suprelorin can cause a spontaneous oestrus on injection so you probably don't want to go there... Sorry I only know of ovarid tabs.
  16. You could try feeding them both RC medium dog, the neutered biscuits would be easier for your little dog to manage. Otherwise you'd have to buy large breed adult and mini adult and just feed them separated, I assume they would have different bowls already? I have three dogs and one is on a Turkey based food and the other two eat RC, it's just how it has to be when you have dogs of vastly different sizes or ages, or food allergies.
  17. You're always a happy wee soul, what pills do you take? Can I have some??!! The swing man or me??
  18. haha pressed reply twice by accident, but it can stay there now.
  19. The Crate Games dvd by Susan Garrett is probably the best way you can introduce them for Raf if you wanted to. But I can see why you would want to steer clear of them. A pen would probably be fine, I would drape some sheets over the surrounds and perhaps re-position it so it's not so close to BF's side if that's possible. Raf may just be going through a settling in period with him, but if he's touchy about the dark or resource guarding then BF should be told not to touch the dog in the night! Just be wary of resource guarding behaviour during the day towards your BF- you'd want to get some Behaviourist advice if it is escalating.
  20. I know of a great breeder with an upcoming litter, hips scores, elbows, eye certificates and PRA DNA testing. They are registered with DogsVic. PM me if you want the details.
  21. We have one guaranteed hottie and awesome bedside manner to boot (no, he has nothing to do with my clinic) in the SE but I'm not sure where you're situated Kelpie-i.
  22. I hope for their sake it's vinyl with teflon coating!
  23. Recently I read a practice building magazine. It had an article talking about the types of things that pet owners value, and that these are not necessarily the same as the opinion of a Practice Manager or Senior Vet. I agree that once we have been in the industry for a long time, what we think clients appreciate, perhaps they don't really care about, and maybe we are not doing enough of the stuff they do actually care about. So....what is it that you really like about your Vet Practice??? It can be 'the little things' to something really huge but I am not going to give examples in case I steer the thread in any way. I will say that we try to give very accurate price estimates, we do not overservice and if prices exceed expectations then clients are duly notified and an agreement is made on how to proceed, so if we can stay away from cost of services talk that would be really great. If your Vet always gives huge discounts or you get litter vacc's for $10 a pop that's great...it's just not the info I really want to know. Thanks in advance.
