  1. I wish I could say she learnt it from me, but she has always had an instinctively good sense of what, where & when to do on course...I had to work like hell to get it. Oh yes I'm totally jealous, somewhere along the line us grownups lose our natural flair I think. I hope she keeps at it, you might have the next pro there!
  2. Her timing is naturally good, thanks for posting, your vids are great.
  3. Gypsy had the same only she had 2 of three stitches out of a foot wound (under a bit of pressure) and there was a lovely separation Because there would be closure of the muscle layer underneath I wouldn't be particularly concerned. Unless you intend on shelling out for emergency centre anaesthetic and restitch and putting him through the trauma, the best you can do is keep it bandaged as you are doing, and as perrin suggests- use elastoplast top and bottom to hold it in place. You never get as great a closure the second time around anyhow, so I just kept bandaging and changing the bandage every other day until there was sufficient granulation. I use melolin dressing at the wound site.
  4. I'm always a bit scared of heat pads in that if they are totally covered with blankets they heat up and may cause burns. Particularly in an older dog that may sleep very soundly. I've always liked the look of these heated dog beds. From the brochure I've seen they look as though they might be a bit safer. ETA: That site is not the manufacturer, just the first link I found, you may be able to get them cheaper from the actual makers.
  5. Have your Vet speak to the Vets at Royal Canin- that's what they're there for, and they're in research and breed specific formulations so they must know *something* about Dalmatians and stone formation. I know you said not Hills but as an example we phoned the Hills helpline and had one of the specialists there phone us back with tonnes of info about which food types were going to fit and the possible consequences of each for one of our cases. Can Dalmatians eat the Box 1 4x2 biscuits? I know it's mainly cereal and mutton (not sure of the exact ingredients) but I've always used them as an added extra each day to help put on a bit for dogs that need it.
  6. The thing is not to stress just because you see a few fleas. There is probably a whole lifecycle happening on your dog and keeping on with a flea treatment monthly will be the most important thing. If you can CATCH the fleas they are in the process of DYING, if they'd had no poison you wouldn't be able to catch them, so just let it be for a while and keep washing the bedding in hot hot water and tumble drying, vacuuming floors etc.
  7. Aus Vet Chiro Assoc. I use Georgia Davis. She comes to my house on the East side of Melbourne and does all three of my dogs. It's great not having to take them anywhere and they really like her. :D
  8. You need to use Lufenuron year round for flea control- that's why it didn't work for you. It's doesn't kill fleas on application it makes eggs unviable thus your flea population dies out. Adulticide = all animals need to be on it. Growth regultor (Sentinel) all dogs need to be on it and cats on program injection.
  9. Quite right, Demodex is very common in Stafford pups.
  10. Could it be Immune Mediated? Needs internal medicine specialist consult- well that's were I'd be going anyway ASAP.
  11. Agree get rid of the Nature's Gift. In an itchy dog I would be steering away from any red meat as well until it's well under control. By that I mean Beef and Lamb. I agree too that he should be under regular care of a Vet to try to get a resolution. Think about fleas too, if he's never had any treatment. My Staffy seems to react to only one or two fleas (and you never see them).
  12. It's not too difficult, it's just setting the dog up with some scenarios they might find at nursing homes and then testing their general temperament. Email the contact for Townsville, she'll be able to set you up with the info. Townsville Pet Partners Branch Contact: Sandra Glaister Phone: (07) 4775 1011 Email: [email protected] Medium to large breeds are actually quite good at it, as they can put their front paws up on chairs or sit next to people in chairs.
  13. Nuh, he is so cute and adorable while he does his zoomies...you'd have to laugh.
  14. The Reps tell us those sorts of medications are tested at 6-10 times the dose, I think it's at 10 x the dose you start to see ill effects. But Rappie or Staranais might know the up to date figures. If you are concerned, I would actually give him a bath tonight, you'll probably wash the majority of the residue off, it won't be waterfast yet.
  15. The shop I was talking about is not the same shop that Pointees is talking about. The one I passed was still open as recently as 4 weeks ago.
  16. It mayyyyyy well rhyme with that..... It's fairly recent too. I'm am worried they are just online selling now, although I would like to think they have disappeared....
  17. Bearing in mind I live in Melbourne's outer east. I drove past a shop today...and it was cleared out - empty. Seemed strange, does anyone know what may have happened to it?
  18. Find a Vet that is PennHip registered. This will give you the most information in a young dog, I think you can Xray by PennHip guidelines at 6mths. Even though he is not slipping he won't be walking naturally and easily on a highly polished floor. I would be going to bunnings to get their heavy duty rubber backed carpet runners that they sell by metre lengths and putting it in all high traffic areas.
  19. I can't remember if I got weekly updates and pics I would have to do an email search. But a full birth account of each one was sent straight after the birth and a note that there was probably a pup there for me, stacked pics were up on the website at about 6 or 7 weeks with the first names and State of where they were going. I think I was advised before the pics went up too, which was mine. My breeder was on dial-up and uploading pics is really frustrating so I wasn't too fussed. Whenever I sent an email though, I always received a reply within 24hrs. I was very satisfied.
  20. If it truly is an insurance limitation then I can see why they refuse them. You can bet your bottom dollar that if you did- something would happen- and they'd be the ones to sue!
  21. Perhaps you could take him for a quick walk, and then give him his breakfast in a Kong or a Treat Ball? Kong Company Aussie Dog Tucker Ball With the pdf, I wouldn't recommend cashews or dried apricots just because we know peanuts in excess and some dried fruits can make dogs ill. I use light philly cream cheese quite regularly for my Puppy School pups and it's generally very popular and preferred to peanut butter. DEE8BC9Ad01.pdf
