  1. I wish it wasn't so difficult to get to cost-wise. Quite frustrating.
  2. I think that the difference you might be finding is all that he is into self rewarding. I was going to suggest a long line but I wasn't sure if you'd think that was too aversive. It will be the quickest way to stop him doing it by cutting out his options. I have done it for dogs in the past and it works very well. A few reminders with a long line is not going to make the sky fall in on him.
  3. The doog one doesn't really, you can get a fair bit of liver in there I have found. The alternative is to take out the hand wipes and put a plastic bag full of treats in there as well.
  4. I use dried pilchards, they still have their eyeballs tho, so they must not be particularly processed.
  5. Me too (not GSD's tho) given that I work in a Vet Clinic sometimes I accidentally look at my cumulative total doh!
  6. I don't know exactly what Aidan's article says as I am not registered there, but I always refer clients to this one: Clicker Solutions If she will toilet when you take her out you are halfway there already! You just need to train a cue for it. You can do it.
  7. We looked it up the other day - I think it was 22-44mg/kg - so 22 is the low dose. I agree the extra Chondroitin/MSM/Vitamin E makes a difference - which is the Joint Guard formula.
  8. I will send you a doco of all the locations if you like- too big to put up here. A doler posted it up when I last made a thread about it.
  9. Thanks S'n T! just ordered one from there.... apparently on special at $89 USD No probs, I've never had any hiccups with them. :D
  10. Do you have an airstrip/aerodrome where you are? I know in the remote community where I have worked there is always 1 Dogtainers crate there at the aerodrome to hire for flights. Website here
  11. Is it just for the first hour? Do you do any exercise with him during that time or in the morning before you head off to work? Does he eat 2 meals a day or just one? The reason I ask is that changing the whole routine in the morning to something that stimulates his brain in other ways may be easier than trying to mark quiet from indoors (although it can easily be done). But maybe he needs 'more' in the mornings.
  12. You can get international shipping from http://www.petexpertise.com/dog-training-a...ing-system.html
  13. If it was semi moist you'd probably clog up the manners minder, definitely needs to be dry.
  14. Royal Canin Dental small dog- my dogs go nuts for it.
  15. Don't book the red kid's plane ticket just yet - don't know that about 2 metres away from the poles counts as extreme - and that's as far as we've got yet. (Mind you, having said that, I did use 4 poles to train difficult independent entries with Kirra (who was initially trained on V weaves.) Kirra did a few tonight when Rory was finished -she'd been shut inside, having extreme tantrums, so she was really fired up when she got to work . Any entries from the left hand side of the arc would be fine with me. Excluding: missing the first two poles but then weaving perfectly OR running alongside the poles really close then looking back expectantly for the reward.
  16. Anyone who can get nice extreme entries with 2 x 2, I am sending a red kid over for a few weeks holiday.
  17. No, they did it because the researchers were calm and assertive
  18. Does he have a history of small seizures prior to this? Neurology isn't ruled out until he's had an MRI - including spine.
  19. I am about halfway through it. Liking it a lot so far. Although I'm not sure it's as easy as she says to tame feral kittens.
  20. No probs. I think I did take my girl in the first time - anything is a worry around the girl bits. But if they are the same as your girl's, my Vet wasn't concerned. They just take a while to go away.
  21. My Stafford girl had those a couple of times before she was desexed and maybe once again after. Apparently they are hormonal. They didn't worry her at all either, and they disappeared about 7-10 days later. If she has no other unwell signs I would watch and see...
  22. I've had the same thing, people won't travel 15mins to the next available puppy school class I recommend. A lot of people from my clinic in Doncaster (almost Nth Balwyn) wouldn't travel to the club I was working at in Kew- too far!
  23. I hope for the OP's sake she has the DNA PRA status of both dogs used. People just love to sue these days...
  24. Oh no! I hope she can now rest in peace. I was just going to ask.... Does anyone know how you can get involved in donating your dog's blood? Both my dogs are over 30kgs and could be possible donors. If someone was in need I'd like to help as my hubby and I are both blood donors! You can call your Vet and just let them know you are happy to donate if there is an emergency, that's very helpful to know. Melbourne University have a canine blood bank. I'm pretty sure that South Paws may be interested as well as they have had to use staff dogs in the past. I've had to find blood for my own dog at short notice and if you live far away from Werribee it can be quite stressful.
