I Also Have A Lump Question... I'm Petrified
Staff'n'Toller replied to Kelly_Louise's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Quite a few of those types of lumps in old dogs aren't cancerous so don't go worrying yourself sick just yet. -
Ooh great idea for a Tibbie - I always forget Tibbie's!

Dry Food That Does Not Contain Wheat, Corn Or Soy?

Z/d diet has only hydrolysed proteins- meaning they are so small in molecular weight that they should pass through the body undetected. Should being the operative word there... -

Separation anxiety is a long term fix, with or without the help of anxiety relieving products. -
Georgia Davis travels outer east, as far as Healesville (I think) she does home visits.

Is Kaos the dog you compete with in agility? If so I would totally do it. It can't hurt anyway to use your adult dogs as a tester so you know the loopholes when a new puppy comes. :D

Yeah she is probably getting deodorised! You can always specify no smelly stuff when you drop her off. -
Musings On Dap

It has no odour detectable to humans, it's not used on the dogs body in any way. -

Agility Dogs I would be interested to hear how it goes for you. The rep tells me the actual DAP collars will be in the country by Jan/Feb next year, they are just waiting on AVMPA approval (again!). The collar will last 30 days. The spray lasts about 2 hours then you need to re-apply to a bandana or towel. GG85 Vet Clinics here in Au, although I do know people who bring it in from the UK at a cheaper price, however I guess at any time customs can decide they are confiscating the product. -
I guess that makes you 'unbalanced' as well.

Dry Food That Does Not Contain Wheat, Corn Or Soy?
Staff'n'Toller replied to Erny's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yes they are a bit different. RC Intestinal (if it was the brown header) has the highest fat of any of the Prescription sensitivity related diets so it doesn't work on all food sensitive dogs. The do have a low fat version 7% fat vs. 20% of the regular intestinal diet. If you have skin signs though, the Hypoallergenic and the Sensitivity Control (which is Blue Whiting and Tapioca btw - just looking at it now) are both indicated for IBD/IBS/food elimination and dermatological issues. As alternative foods once you're finished the Z/d. In saying that though, I switched my skin problem dog over to Z/d Low Allergen and she ate that happily for quite a few years. Technically she should have 2-2.5 cups dry but she maintains very well on 1.5 cups a day of any of those foods. The Sensitivity Control and Sensitive are quite different foods. My Stafford won't touch Z/d cans so well done with that! If you want copies of the product abstracts which have a lot of info on them I am always happy to fax them to you. You're welcome to pick up copies if you're going through Doncaster at some point also....I don't have a scanner unfortunately. Nb: As the bag size goes up, the price per kg goes down markedly so if you need to continue, go as big as you can afford. Royal Canin also have a loyalty scheme get the 11th bag free. -
We use DAP at my clinic in the hospital ward, sometimes it works, sometimes the dogs are just too worried about being in the hospital I guess. I also use the spray if I feel the situation warrants it. I tried it when I introduced my last new puppy into the house but I couldn't tell whether it had any effect. Similarly I have tried it in the waiting room when taking puppy classes but again, it seems hard to assess. Recently due to one dog's injury, my three have had restricted access to outdoors, the last 2 days something has majorly spooked my injured boy (only in the mornings) and whilst going through my process of deduction I brought home a DAP diffuser tonight - figured it can't hurt. Tonight I realised my Stafford girl who would usually start making noise to be 'taken upstairs to bed' is still quiet as a mouse, fast asleep....interesting. Care to discuss your experiences with DAP?

Dry Food That Does Not Contain Wheat, Corn Or Soy?
Staff'n'Toller replied to Erny's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
You have a few options if it's food intolerance. Hills D/d they are just making some improvements to this formula. Royal Canin Hypoallergenic - basically the same as Z/d with the hydrolysed protein. Royal Canin Sensitivity Control - was fish and tapioca - maybe it's another carbohydrate now?...I'd have to check. -
Yeah that's not a foster kitten... Bloody adorable though.

I'd be surprised if he has absolutely no poisonous plants, but it may have been a specific berry, leaf or flower that was breaking down. Is she trying to bite him on the butt? Priceless!!

You should check with the Vet about when they are happy for you to resume leash walking - before you go ahead.
-
You can use salt to induce vomiting so he probably just felt a bit sick. Watch his drinking for any large increases, hopefully it's all out now.

My first bag is nearly empty, still happy with it. And my dogs are getting fat coz one is on crate rest and the others are also lazing around inside as a result.

Bob-a-lot Versus Kong Wobbler
Staff'n'Toller replied to quickbrownfox's topic in General Dog Discussion
Bob a lot and wobbler may be the same as far as noise levels go....maybe a bit quieter than a buster cube, marginally. I haven't tried the wobbler yet, have two on the shelf at work but haven't brought one home yet. -
Is Anyone Looking For A New Sports Dog?
Staff'n'Toller replied to Kirty's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hi Kirty, If I may ask, is she quiet? Does she bark at all? How is she with being left by herself say out in the yard without the other dogs there? I have a client who is having some extreme bad luck in finding the right dog for her and her son.
