Was gonna suggest it may be vaso-vagal due to cold food? Sounds like your Vet sorted it for you though.

My advice is still to ring your Vet and check about what you gave. Anti-histamine is not without risks. Allergies are difficult and often there is no real answer. There are good specialist clinics that do allergy testing in Vic to find out what she is allergic to and dispense allergy desensitisation injections so that she can become immune to them over time without needing to use cortisone.

Really? 180mg?? Typically the antihistamines we have here are less than 10mg, so I guess I'd be ringing the Vet to ask what happens when you overdose your dog by that much!

Back Seat Buddys And Restraints...
Staff'n'Toller replied to westiemum's topic in General Dog Discussion
The Captiva is a SUV right? Most likely it would tell you a large size, the difference between that and the medium is only 10cm in length. I had a medium in my Pulsar and moved it into the Xtrail, pretty much still covers the back seat. Try Vet Products direct for a better price. -
Back Seat Buddys And Restraints...

If there are holes in the cover for the restraints- then it's not waterproof. Dirt and sand also feeds through those slots, I know because I used to have one. Comes with a range of straps and clips to fasten in different car configurations. 2 top sections unzip from the waterproof part, fully machine washable, for many washes. Can halve it so you can put one of your seats up in the back. High density zips and stitching. No need for blankets or mats as they come with synthetic lambswool that is blanket stitched. No noise from the dogs when moving around as their nails don't scratch the material. Mine is 8+ years old now and still looks fab. No signs of stitching, zip or clip damage or wear. -
When you find out how to do that, I would like to know the formula to input for one of mine, so he can think of nice things about the cat. He's already thinking nice things about the cat, that's the problem! Hehe, maybe I should say nice, peaceful, friendly things.

Back Seat Buddys And Restraints...

Thanks Jules P for the info - on their website they seem to only work in metal - do you know if thats right? Cos for safety and lightness of handling I think if I can find a hard plastic solution that would be ideal... I don't think I could handle a double transit box in metal on my own... but could be wrong! He said he was experimenting with poly-resin (or some such) false flooring for ease of cleaning when he did mine, this was a couple of years ago now. Flick him an email. If you have a wagon he might be able to do something awesome in the back for little dogs. -

Back Seat Buddys And Restraints...

Pet Avenue used to sell hound harnesses, but essentially all you need to do is get an attachment that clips to your child safety anchor points in the roof behind the dogs. Or down behind the back seats, whatever the case may be. You could try emailing Pet Avenue, otherwise I'd get someone like Blackdog Wear to make me an adjustable attachment with a snap hook at either end. -

For some reason, the mitre 10 25mm PVC fits into the 5-way connectors better than the bunnings PVC of the same size, different manufacturer. Buy the smaller diameter 4 or 5 ways. I use reducers from mitre 10 so that the uprights can be 20mm PVC to fit my jump cups from clean run. -
I looked up names of homesteads or previous historical names of towns around me. I had Macauley, Miller, Chandler and a few others.

Have you tried training with stride regulators? Just curious. No. I have a video at home, but haven't had anyone to show me how to use them. At some time I will have to work out how it is done though. Also - I keep telling myself that I just haven't worried because she has missed one contact since the middle of September and for the minute I'm quick enough to to have to worry except for the occasional really evil advanced course. For sure :D sounds like she has a great track record. Just wondered as I saw it in contacts 360 they were using it to get a nice safe A-frame into a 2o2o position, she used pool noodles I think. I haven't ever taught running contacts but it seemed like using stride regulators was nice for the dogs. -

Looks at Xtrail with back seats folded down and with dog crates and beds in whole back area.... Opps. I have an Xtrail too, no crates, but I hate taking more than one passenger b/c it means I have to remove the backseat buddy. -

You would agree that in your case it's a special circumstance though. The OP asked as they have not been to a Vet lately so they will probably be charged 2 sets of fees and that would be generally the norm. The breeders here also don't get charged or get a heavily discounted fee because they have multiple animals, spend more money, get whole litters of puppies vacc'd and chipped from time to time and probably direct puppy buyers to their particular Vet too- again that's a special circumstance. I have a Vet I've known for more than 10 years too, he probably wouldn't charge a consult anymore except that he doesn't own his own business. We don't charge for wildlife, found animals, suture removals and surgery or medical checks in general either.

How Can We Help Sasaki?
Staff'n'Toller replied to Purple Julie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It may grow back if you get him onto a monthly flea adulticide. I've seen many dogs in much worse condition and the hair grows back eventually even though you'd think it would be permanent damage to the skin and follicles. -

I think there was 3 or so days where all roads in were closed and people couldn't access their pets or horses. It just wasn't safe. I could be wrong but that's my recollection. Particularly if you were in the Kinglake area and you were on the hill, you stayed, if you'd left you could only go to containment lines until the wristband id system was up and running. Not talking about livestock and those animals that were left - plenty of people took their animals with them when they got out and went to the emergency centres and there was no problem. Were animals allowed indoors in places like the Whittlesea centre? -

That's nice but how many dogs - two or more? Are you taking up more time than one consult eg are you just having them vax'd? If I take 25 dogs into my vet at the one time, should I ask for 1 consult fee just because I'm one person and we're all in the room together? What if I take up the entire block for say 8am-11am with 25 dogs and different maladies? He would be missing out on every waiting patients' consult fee. Not really fair in that regard. The consult is for the patient, not the owner but my vet no doubt knows about this thread by now so I'm going to tease him about it tomorrow . eta Dan - I'm going to mention your ginger beast Love your work, let us know how you get on.
-
Microchip is proof of the actual owner, it's what would be used in court if ownership was contested. Canine Association papers may also come into play but as I understand it, the permanent ID is recognised first and foremost.
-
Yeah exactly you thieving bastards I'll see you tomorrow with my lot. I dont care what you charge - I know where you live if you rip me off :D Watch out Stormie, Raz is coming for your LCD as a refund.

I will offer all our clients a coffee from now on. If the boss buys me an espresso machine.

Well this is medical, not trade. If you go to the Doc's can you get your partner seen to as well for one consult fee or reduced? I THINK NOT!!
