Calendula is not the same as camomile as far as I know. Not sure why you would go and use camomile when no-one confirmed that was worth trying. :D Your dog needs a moisturising shampoo, Aloveen, EPO, Goats milk, whatever. But most importantly thick coated dogs should be blow dried. You need to get all the water away from her skin. Towel drying will not have the same effect. Be careful the water is warm but not hot. You need to check also about whether the diet you are feeding has enough vitamins and minerals to support the skin. You may need to supplement with a balanced omega 6/3 oil- balanced for dogs not people.

LOL I have done this too with the dumbbell. Don't fall into the trap of giving a second signal to fetch! You need to break it off line them up again and give the release command again. Bloody tollers way too smart for me! Ok ta, we will try that next week. I was shaking my head driving home, thinking "well why would I expect it just to go to plan- duh!". ;)

Today Tollersowned and I met up to do some NRA training. I wanted to fix Geordie's breaking when the bumper is thrown, which happens about 70% of the time. I fixed it SO GOOD that he was holding position and when I released him he wouldn't go fetch. Bloody Tollers!!

Science Diet Prescription Food
Staff'n'Toller replied to daccydog's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Once the issues are fixed with AQIS, it will be no longer problematic. But they can't tell us how long, or, rather they can tell us when a container load is being 'released' but the reps aren't privy to what those containers have in them. ChristineX - may be worth looking at Advance Turkey and Rice. Not a prescription diet but worth exploring. Hills Science Diet Sensitive Skin still seems to be in supply also- we have no trouble getting that. -

Z/d tinned is still a complete diet, so I wouldn't be concerned about feeding it on it's own for a short time. :D -
Tests Before Anaesthetic

We did have a JRT that had a liver shunt we didn't know about- owners declined pre-anaesthetic bloods at the time, took him quite a while to wake up!! -

Z/d is still out unfortunately. Which RC did you try? Hypoallergenic, Sensitivity Control, or Skin Support? They are all suitable for dogs with allergies and all have slightly different ingredients. Otherwise if it's for a small dog, maybe roo, sweet potato and a vitamin supplement will see you through until it comes back. -

The last clinic I worked at that had in-house pathology charged $65 - that was 7 years ago so $100 is probably reasonable. -
Ian Dunbar Seminar (sorry It's In Uk!)

Saw him at the APDT Anniversary Conference and he was quite good. He has a down to earth, no nonsense style of training. -
GET SOME ANTIHYSTIMINE TABLETS FROM THE CHEMIST When a dog's airway might be in question they need to see an emergency Vet.

Retrieving & Field Training Talk
Staff'n'Toller replied to RubyStar's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks tollersowned. The Toller was "Max" FIONAVAR HAWKER HUNTER CDX AD JD and came second in Novice He has super enthusiasm and great potential. The owner has worked hard to stop a breaking problem and the dog would do well in Novice Retrieving trials with minimal more work IMO. Might be bro' to my little ratbag! I have Hawker Tempest here. There were two Top Gun themed litters though. :D -
The dog is also grimacing, panting and showing the whites of it's eyes. Incredible, yeah- incredibly stressed!!! The safety net is superfluous if you are a dog and can't reason that it's OK to fall.

She says probably not until 2012. You might wish to get the Really Reliable Recall dvd from Clean Run in the interim to help with your issue. -
Id Card To Match Microchip Details
Staff'n'Toller replied to Fleuri's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'm confused as to what purpose the card has with regard to identifying the owner. The microchip holds the owners detaisl, the Vet only needs to scan the dog to see if the person presenting themselves as the owner is the same as the owner recorded on the computer. Another query. What happens when the Vet scans the dog and the details do not match? I like the idea of a card that holds medical records for the dog though, but not on the grounds of identifying ownership. With the way we are so mobile these days, having your dog's medical records in format like this would be brilliant. All new animals are scanned, and we do ring CAR to make sure the details match up. By the time the animal is scanned and the details don't match up, we have the new owner's name, numbers and residence so we refer it on to the appropriate authority. It becomes a dangerous situation trying to with hold an animal that has been stolen when the thief is present. We are under no responsibility to place ourselves in a potentially bad situation and it's out of our jurisdiction anyway. -

Can Anyone Recommend A Joint Specialist?

Where did /does he work? He is a muscle manipulator, not a qualified Physio or Chiro or Vet or Specialist. x 2 for Charles Kuntz. -

Giving Joint Guard - Help Please?
Staff'n'Toller replied to violetmay's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Oh ok, sorry I misread, I figured it was between 10-20mins with what you described originally. Have they ruled out luxating patellas or cruciate rupture? Might be a good idea to get a 2nd opinion or some more tests done. -
Giving Joint Guard - Help Please?
Staff'n'Toller replied to violetmay's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Have you had Xrays done? Seems like an extreme reaction after a 10minute walk for a 6 year old dog. ETA: I think the Mobility Support is 'tastier' as well, judging by dogs reactions. -

Sasha's blend treats are back too. But no dog here gets fed by hand. 6 Schmackos a day is a lot of salt, colours and flavours for a dog his size. Metacam is honey flavoured squirt it into his mouth!!! He needs retraining for his food eating problems. But you can run blood tests first if you want to know everything is AOK on the inside. -
Down here the compounding chemists add their fees so the medication becomes more expensive again.

This is just from wiki: I would think critical care at a regular day clinic would be in the vicinity of $200-300 a day and a night of observation at our emergency centres here with 24/hr Vet on staff is around $600 per night. I would imagine a plasma transfusion to be several hundred at least so the price seems reasonable not knowing how many days/nights the puppy will need. Hope your puppy makes it through.

I agree with Stitch, I have a dog here that just can't stomach any barf, however if it was the barf it should be a pattern you are seeing everyday or whenever you feed a certain protein. Usually the next thing is faecal float and endoscopy- wherein they usually find nothing if it's IBD. Perhaps you could talk to your Vet about treating for Giardia just to rule it out? Maybe try some non fresh meat treats for a while? Liver and dried minnows for example?

They will cover non-vaccinated animals but they won't pay claims that have anything to do with Parvo, Distemper, Hepatitis or CC.
