I think even if your dogs got zapped they would still bark, maybe it is useful if you are afraid they may bite one of the neighbours. Doesn't seem that fair though- to your dogs. If you are definitely moving, I would be inclined to put up dog runs, as close as possible to your house. At a 90 degree angle to the back fence IYKWIM. Then I would run about 4 layers of shade cloth over whichever panel of the dog run/s is visible to the problem fence line, and consider planting a fast growing hedge there i.e. pitosporum. My thoughts are that if your dogs don't bark, and can't get to the fence line, the neighbours won't be reinforced for their bad behaviour. But this may or may not be a feasible option for you regarding space and cost.

And I bet your kittehs are using them too?

Are you in metro Brisbane? We are a small clinic but have it on shelf all the time, in all sizes. It comes in 100ml bottle and tablets now- if that helps. We can get things next day very easily, can't understand why they are stuffing you around.

Royal Canin Supply Problems
Staff'n'Toller replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Renal and Intestinal have both been pulled for ~12 months to re-formulate for import. I don't know if this is the same for giant as it's a pet shop line, but one would have to assume? You can go to Veterinary large breed junior/adult/senior. These are all in stock at the moment AFAIK. -
Canine Disc Dog - Victoria
Staff'n'Toller replied to whatevah's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Liz was going to let me know when two instructors had a free weekend to come down, and how much they wanted to be paid - then I didn't hear anything. We have a new designated dog park (in Donvale) that is currently being fenced, it's half done. In a few months there is also a building we may be able to access for toilets etc. So I am still happy to do the organising, and I still have the email list, but it's up to the QLD people..?? -
Unusual Titre Test Result
Staff'n'Toller replied to aussielover's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It's also likely Westielover, that your house dogs get a nice continuous exposure to KC to keep their immunity high. My dogs are the same. I think Jean Dodds would say that if you re-vacc, you will get a temporary rise in levels i.e. 3mths, then it will return to previous 1/5. I had the same with my Toller - but as there is immunity there, just no recent evidence of immune challenges, I've chosen to do nothing. -
Thanks so much, I would really appreciate it.

Help - Need Info On Tough Working Dog Boots!
Staff'n'Toller replied to persephone's topic in General Dog Discussion
Neoprene is used as it breathes well. I'm not sure about it in relation to burs. However, I bought a muttluk for my dog that needed to wear a splint for 6 weeks and it was bloody hopeless, got a hole in it 2 weeks in, and was only used for going outside to toilet. These look as though they'd be better value as far as wear and tear. Therapaw boots. In Vic I got one of their other products from dogsinmotion.com.au. -
Yep. We train Saturday mornings. Ask to speak to Trevor May. I'm not actually a member, but wondering if you take 'outsiders' as you are my closest group. Happy to become a member for insurance reasons, of course.

Where The Heck Am I Going Wrong?

If you're looking for a shop, negotiate one or two months rent free- apparently RE agents are open to this sort of thing. -

If I worked at the RSPCA in the hospital, and there was lots of Parvo, then yes I would be taking my outer layer of clothes off at the door and hot washing them (and jump straight into the shower). I would also disinfect my shoes and leave them outside too - where the pup can't chew on them. But that's about as much as you can do. In regards to bones, yes I don't give access to the marrow because it can and does cause pancreatitis, particularly in adult or older small breeds. Have done lots of enemas of small dogs who were just fed too much raw bone and it all gets stuck. In recent history have seen a Border Collie with a large piece of bone lodged in the throat that almost needed specialist surgery to go in and retrieve, and a Boxer with a huge piece of meat and bone that took over an hour with an endoscope to get out. Just be careful, feed bones that are much bigger than your pup, and watch them all the time. Have some nice tasty roast chicken or sausage to offer in case you need to swap them for their bone.

I really liked when they said now the black ?Lab X? is going to get the training he should have received as a young dog. Also thought it was excellent when Steve said no, your dog is not living happily on a farm, don't kid yourself. It's the sort of thing that needs to be said A LOT more in mainstream media.

Staff'n'Toller replied to Baby Dragon's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Same for my Lab Jangels is obessed with tissues too ...... Used or unused he's not fussy Never caused any problems X 3 Have never had to take cardboard blockage out of a dog. If it's been chewed should be all good. -
KCC library? He certainly has some great reviews there!

We started giving it to my boss's Lab when he lost his other Lab friend, Banjo is 13 y.o. and he worked it out but took him about 3 days with lots of encouragement.

Holistic Select Vs Proplan
Staff'n'Toller replied to Terujo's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I really liked the salmon/anchovy but I got sick of either not being able to get it, or the bags being really old stock - quite close to use-by date. -
mumtoshelley I would chill out about it a bit. 1kg in a fortnight is a great weight loss, I wouldn't do it any faster than that for a dog. Be careful not to compare her to a human, it's better if she gets to her goal weight over 6 months rather than as fast as possible. If she is doing lots of exercise then I think 1.5 cups of BH is ok but cutting it further is getting extreme. Also just be careful if you are dramatically upping her exercise- she needs to slowly build muscle or the cruciates will be the first thing be strained!

Barking Staffy At Night
Staff'n'Toller replied to abooody's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Could well be - Staffies are pretty cluey. My Toller barks at the birds roosting and that starts about 5/5.30. We are lucky in that there's someone here to lock him inside until that period is over, but it's very self rewarding for him. -
Advice Needed From Those With Puppy Bars
Staff'n'Toller replied to RubyStar's topic in General Dog Discussion
Nope, not yet! I will update this thread when/if I hear back in case anyone else wanted to order one. Great price Well my baby (my car) is off being fitted as I type this! He is also going to go to a locksmith for me and see if he can locate those locks I want (like in superminty's photo). Hope he can find them and I also hope they don't cost an arm and a leg I told him if he can't find them, then latches are fine. He also said the doors won't open flush against the other door when open so instead he is going to have them open outwards like I first wanted, so the hinges are at the sides, not the middle. My car should be ready this afternoon or tomorrow Look forward to seeing pics! -
Advice Needed From Those With Puppy Bars
Staff'n'Toller replied to RubyStar's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have a solution, road trip acros the nullabor, stay a few days in Melbourne and get Colin to do it lol. Yes the locks clasp shut without having to lock them, but I'm sure you'd be able to source them somewhere.
