How Long Did Your Clear Run Order Take
Staff'n'Toller replied to BC Love's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Try petexpertise.com - that's where I last bought mine from. Thanks for the referral. The pouch was a fraction cheaper and postage was only $19.50. -

I just emailed them about postage for 2 Premier Quick Access Treat Pouches. Apparently $35 is an accurate cost. Guess I'll have to keep my fingers crossed they come up for free shipping. Try petexpertise.com - that's where I last bought mine from. Although Erny's look to be very similar. -
Dna Testing To Determine A Breed
Staff'n'Toller replied to efowler's topic in General Dog Discussion
It's better for finding out what the dog isn't, than what the dog is. I know someone who was sold a dog guaranteed purebred who quite clearly isn't, and is using the evidence to take it to small claims tribunal. In this case it's to substantiate that there is none of the claimed breed in this dog- which is plain to the eye as well. -
I had some success with this last weekend at Retrieving practice. Geordie thinks that when other dogs are retrieving it must be his turn too! It's very good for giving an idea of distance needed away from the distraction as well.

Oh- thank you - that's the sort of suggestion I was looking for. It's a huge zip, pretty sure it needs an industrial type machine to replace it.
-
Anyone had their BackSeat Buddy repaired? The zip that joins the two halves together has finally busted. The other zips are fine. Seems a waste to throw out the whole thing, but the zip must close all the way as I have an old dog who's had a laminectomy and under no circumstances can she fall into the foot well. I've sent Petavenue a msg, just wondered if anyone has had their zip renewed successfully by a tailor. Cheers!

Totally agree. If it's upsetting your dog, it's for their emotional benefit and they are showing no respect for the dog's emotional state or that you are the new owner. If they had dropped her off at a shelter they would not know the new owners at all, you are being very generous by giving email updates/photos and I feel that's where your responsibility ends.

Best No Pull Harness
Staff'n'Toller replied to Bullyisious's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
All the newer no-pull harnesses out now are a variation on a theme. The Tellington-Touch balance configuration. Before harnesses this was a simple leash technique. Here's some more info for you. Mekuti harness link Springerloaded http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39cliMs3EVg&feature=player_embedded -
Best No Pull Harness
Staff'n'Toller replied to Bullyisious's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
That's because, Y-front harnesses are comfortable for the dog to pull into. Blackdog make a Y-front tracking harness which negates pulling to some degree, but it is still very comfortable for the dog to lean into. But with the ring on the front, pulling just means the dog gets turned around anyway. The only difference with a y-front harness is that the front ring won't end up on the dog's shoulder while the dog is pulling anyway. If they are fitted correctly, there is only slight movement and the ring doesn't end up on the dog's shoulder. It applies pressure very subtly. It works differently to a Y-front harness the two are not the same and one can never be integrated into the other. We tried- it wasn't successful. -

Does Anyone Know Where This Lead Came From?

The experts tell us that with the time the lifecycle takes, if you have a small infestation then treating for 6 months is advisable. Obviously you haven't seen any so it may be unrelated dirt. However I had all dogs on IGRs and stupidly left it out for a few months in Spring and bam we had fleas. Just sayin' that only treating for one month might see them back with a vengenance once the weather warms up as the eggs etc. May still be present in floor crevices or in furniture.

Going by other threads, you will probably find that that is their base price, and you will be offered fluids, bloods, take home pain relief etc. When you arrive.

Have it stitched tomorrow, needs AB's too.

As Suzanne Clothier says - you are now the replacement littermates! :p

Early Morning Wake Up Calls
Staff'n'Toller replied to Freester's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My Toller has started doing this lately as recently someone in the house had a change of work time (0430) and he has started barking anywhere from 0300 for his breakfast cookie. I rugged him last night in his crate and all was quiet. He has never slept outside and has good bedding but it makes sense we are going through the coldest period right now. We seem to have more people in the street parking outside our house and going out/coming home at all hours so it may have something to do with it. Agree with the others though, you will probably need to go through a few nights of yapping with absolutely no reply from you guys in order to get a result from a smart dog. ;) -
A domestic animal business registration is different to the 3 or more dog permit. So yes, he has to apply to have the 3rd dog. In a rural zoned area it's a different story.

As far as I can tell we can only send VetPath WA samples through Gribbles, and obviously there is a price for pickup, handling, spinning down and sending off because the Gribbles base price is much more than that. There is a new ELISA test but I am only part way through reading the literature, and since you have to buy a box of 12 - I haven't worked out the cost difference.
-
Bob Cavey knows - have you tried Monash? We can do it as well, would have to talk price privately though- Gribbles are just not cheap unfortunately.

Run free little Cindy. She was a great dog, you should be very proud of what you achieved with her. She had the best of homes. "Unless you have the chance to live with a great dog, you might never know what makes them so different. And how to recognise their special qualities." Morie Sawataishi.
