Does Anyone Drive A Ford Territory
Staff'n'Toller replied to RubyStar's topic in General Dog Discussion
There is, but I suggest taking your Lab and making sure they can jump in themselves. The new ones look lower than my 2005, but once your Labs are elderly you may be assisting in lifting in and out or having to invest in a ramp. -

If you decide to go for a collar, do a bit of a search here and speak to K9Pro so you are not wasting your money. -

The Lab Club is running a RAT training day this month - join the Lab Club of Vic on FB for details. -

These days the recommendation is that you sit with them in the case of storms or fireworks. As Corvus has said above. Phobia inhibition or lack of has to do with normal brain ageing. Dogs that were never scared before become scared and then when their hearing goes often they are ok again. Thundershirt, DAP diffuser and specific phobia herbal treatments made up for dogs in particular are all things worth trying. ETA: Seems like we are going to have a regular electrical storm cycle this Summer in Melbourne, going by the looks of things.

Yay! I wasn't around for when you only got one in the mail, so I didn't know any better. Edit - SnT - did you start watching or flicking through the DVD you got though? Any reviews? I'm sorry to say I'm only a bit of the way through the first disc, it looks promising but I'm only up to recognising body language so can't tell that much.

That's what they are trying to do here in Vic, the Lab Club et al are holding them which is great. I think we are blessed to have some suitable areas to run them though. -

Quite right ST - a little info booklet/sheet would be good. I have driven the judge around at one trial, that's about it. I love watching the dogs work so much, I get totally distracted also. -
Perhaps she thinks if she sends it back due to problems they will blame her or that she may not get another one if they can't fix the existing dog's problems?

My guess is that lots of dogs were chipped and registered as 'non-restricted breed x' before the amnesty closed yesterday. I saw proof of it while I was at my council offices cashier, and walked out at the same time as said people and saw their car with a Pit Bull decal on it. BYB's will continue to breed, and once people get to understanding that the council will find their Staffy X's through their chip details they will stop attending Vet Clinics for fear of having to chip them. Men who buy these dogs as penis extensions do not neuter them, the testicles are just as important as the look of the dog. They won't be bringing them in for neutering, they'll just hope they don't get caught. Again, the cause of the problem is not dealt with and the education does not happen.

Council Seizing & Destroying Staffy's
Staff'n'Toller replied to Saffioraire's topic in General Dog Discussion
That's what I was implying - it may help you if you have a dog that would be classified under the test but is actually a mix of other breeds. I head there was no DNA profile for Pit Bulls - but since I can't remember where I heard it, it's not particularly valid. -

Vets aren't under any obligation to issue a letter stating a dog is not a Pit Bull, so DNA testing is pertinent, I think. -
I actually freaked out that customs might be hoping to bill me import tax for buying $680 of dvds. Oh well...have to wait and see. ETA: I am also having work address delivery problems, the Post Office is holding on to our parcels and only sending a 'final' pick up card, we never receive the first ones! So yeah I am not surprised by anything right now.
