  1. On investigation we think we've found the source of these particular chicken wings and it seems to be training related, nothing sinister thank goodness. :)
  2. Best to check exactly what you were quoted for originally in that case as we do triennial C3 where requested and I think that plus a KC component would be just over the $100 mark. Nobivac and Companion C3 who have the 3 year registration -their vials cost more - which is the reason why.
  3. There are certainly those types around Pers - not an unreasonable thought. :)
  4. If you think there's any chance he ingested some, run an activated clotting time in a couple of days. :) Pindone is used in the greater Manningham area, I'm fairly sure there would be no 1080 around here - too risky to humans.
  5. Take lots of treats or a ball for her to hold in her mouth. They usually freak out a bit but they will settle. Particularly the dogs who are used to 'free reign' pool swimming, they dislike having to be on lead etc.
  6. Ditto! Turkey and Rice formula was what I was feeding.
  7. Actually the premium weight control foods often have extra fibre to assist satiety and some have L- carnitine to help convert fat to muscle whilst the dog still receives the correct amounts of vitamins and minerals. Reducing food can cause vitamin deficiency, and places extra strain on organs which is not what you want. There is no need for it these days and the dog is clearly losing weight on the food it is on. :) Just steady as you go korbin13, with dogs and cats it comes off slower but that's a safer way to go. :)
  8. Can anyone tell me about talking to your dog during the RATG for novice? :)
  9. Royal Canin are bringing back their sensitivity control veterinary dry. It was whitefish and tapioca. Now it will be duck and tapioca. The meat is hydrolysed too.
  10. I hope you have had a second opinion. Luxating patellas are the most over operated on "condition". A vet can just snap the knee caps out and in on small and young dogs and the owner is told: OH luxating patellas, the dog will be crippled, he needs an operation !!! Please don't operate unless it is absolutely needed ETA: Then of course if the operate IS needed, go to a specialist. I would recommend SASH at North Ryde or ARH at Homebush. The insinuation that vets cause luxating patellas, quite frankly makes my blood boil. Where do people get these ridiculous ideas from? If the knee conformation is correct, it's not possible to 'just snap' the kneecap out of place. Spreading misinformation and scaremongering is not helping the OP to find a good surgeon for her dog.
  11. I haven't tried a thundershirt out and about but I can report that for arousal due to the wind and possums at night time for a dog that won't settle, it's successful 100% of the time. I see immediate relaxation in the crate and he's asleep in about 5 mins.
  12. Thanks all, for the suggestions. Have googled a few of them. :)
  13. Should have given this to you yesterday! Dr Georgia Davis www.optimalchiro.com.au/animal/index.html Georgia treats my dogs too, she has been seeing them for 5+ years. My Toller is in love with her. She's very good at pin-pointing problems through gait.
  14. Just wanting to pick the brains trust of DOL here... Is there a public database for a) AVA hip scoring scheme and b) DNA test results - particularly clear by parentage certificates IF the breeder has opted to make the results public?
  15. If the RSPCA Inspectorate come asking for a history in the case of cruelty I'm fairly sure we have to hand it over.
  16. It really depends how far over the norm the levels are, and generally they are read in conjunction with other key indicators when looking for organ disease. If you are concerned then query it with your Vet and ask them was there any mention of problems in the pathologist interpretation - if there isn't one they can add an interpretation for an extra fee. But for a phenobarb assay + liver levels we generally don't request an interpretation unless there is a problem. Cholesterol can go up and down, and as I said at the top, should not be read as a standalone type of thing. :)
  17. In the biz we use these: Kruuse heavy duty They stay sharp for a very very long time (as long as you don't use them to cut other things ) Let me know if you want some, I can order them through work.
  18. I think cattle tape is illegal, but sureguard have specialised products- ping string to deter possums, cats etc. Different voltage.
  19. No, it isn't safe, call the help line on the Frontline packet - they should be able to tell you when. And keep treating your dogs with Frontline for the next 4-6 months or you won't get rid of the life cycle in your house.
  20. I have a hemp collar from Etsy on my swimming dog and it hardly smells at all. :) He wears it full time for ID purposes too.
  21. Your Vet should be quite happy to send all your girl's history and pathology tests to a specialist in the city and you should be able to do an email or skype consult without having to take her there. Unless of course, she needs specialist imaging - but for a second opinion, or reassurance on the treatment plan - most specialists offer distance consults. If you can't find one in your State that will, email further afield, I'm sure you'll find someone in Sydney or Melbourne but I doubt you'd need to look that far. :) Otherwise, keep your Vet informed via phone of how she's going and what you've noticed, so that you can come to an agreement on an effective dose for her. :)
  22. I have two of these...I just bought a second one for OH & have had the first one for three years now & LOVE them. My Black Dog one died within a couple of uses (hinges) That hinge problem has been addressed at Blackdog. I don't think I'm allowed to say anything more at this stage though.
