So sad and angry to read this. I hope your daughter is ok. I agree with everyone here, the husky needs to be pts and the owners never allowed to own a dog again.

Great photos and yes those thighs!! It looks like a lot of fun for two legged and 4 legged pals. :)

Hi, my mini was put down a few months ago as she was 14 years old and she no longer was eating and was suffering from dementia and had some internal issues. She was a great little dog. A wonderful companion and family dog. She was purchased as a black and silver but when she was about 3, she turned to salt and pepper - I was warned that this could happen. i didn't have her clipped in the traditional schnauzer clip as we have a farm and she would end up with burrs and grass seeds in her fur, so I had her clipped all over but left little eyebrows and a little beard. She was coated in winter. People warned me that they can be yappy - but my girl RARELY barked in her life. I was hoping she would be a good watchdog, but no, not a murmur from her. She would get excited at the farm and bark at the bull and the other dogs, but apart from that, nothing! She was a pleasure to own though she did suffer from epilepsy, something I understand that mini schnauzers are prone to. However the breeder should be able to let you know about that. She was easy to train (very food oriented) and was a reliable little girl. Her recall was very good. She loved people, loved other dogs and our cat. She was tenacious with birds in the yard and I don't know how she would have been with other cats. She loved eating cicadas and christmas beetles. She was full of energy pretty much up until the end and loved playing soccer - she would push the soccer ball around the yard for ages. I'm not really into small dogs, but if I were to get another small dog, it would be a mini.

Yes you can  :D Grumpette, you have done it again with your wonderful photos of your gorgeous dogs. Their smiles bring a huge smile to my face!

I regard responsible dog ownership to be all of the following: food, shelter, medical, exercise, training, socialisation, containment, leash laws (and other council regulations) and to include that my dogs do not interfere with anyone or anything else.

I always love the great photos you post - such gorgeous dogs you have.

Couldn't agree more - out of the 4 danes I've had, one lived to 10.5 and only died because of snake bite, the next eldest was 9 and also died of snake bite (we had a terrible problem with tiger snakes on a particular property we lived on, we moved to another part of the district and never had a problem with them again). The next dane was 6 and had to be pts due to a brain tumour and the last dane dropped dead in the back of the car at 10 mths (heart issue). All of these dogs were wonderful and filled our lives with so much joy. I certainly wouldn't let the so called lifespan of a particular breed put me off. Danes are in my book, the best dogs ever and I'm hoping to get another dane one day. I recently had my mini schnauzer pts due to old age and several health issues, she was 14. She was a delightful little dog and I miss her but I never enjoyed her like I did with the danes.

Mine don't howl at sirens but one of mine will howl as Law and Order SVU - I don't think he likes the theme music. :D

K9pro Online Shop Great Customer Service
Adnil444 replied to sunnyjohn's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have ordered twice from K9 Pro and the orders have arrived within a couple of days - amazing service. I love the leather leash I just got - soft and strong and looks great. The long line is fabulous too - tried it out on Saturday at training (my dog sometimes breaks in a long stay) and it worked a treat and gave me a lot more confidence. People commented on the long line saying how nice it is etc. I have recommended K9 Pro to others as well - can't get much better than placing an order on a Friday and it arrives in the post on Monday -
Well said - I'd suggest a cat if they are not going to allow the dog to be a family dog. I know of and I'm sure we all do, people that can't understand why their dog gets so excited and jumps up, knocks the kids over, digs, etc whenever they go in the yard - those are the dogs that are permanently in the backyard with no access to their family and the house. I've tried to explain to these owners that letting their dogs inside and becoming part of the family will go a long way to ensuring that this behaviour stops. Access to the house doesn't have to be the whole house - a room, a mat, crate etc. A family dog needs a family - not just a yard.

I agree Kasey - Telida has been balanced and educational and I totally agree with the comments. The comments Telida are stating are not just for the APBT, they are for all breeds. I also like the point about people having these restricted breeds, but still happily taking them to public places. If you want to own a restricted breed, great, but there is an added huge responsibility to go with that ownership - every council has its own laws on owning a restricted breed and these people breaking those rules should be reported as such.

Bendigo Man Threatens To Kill Pet Cats If They Wander Into His Yard
Adnil444 replied to Peace_Of_Mind's topic in In The News
Well get a run then. Despite what you may think people don't want your cat pissing on their doorstep, they don't want your cat fighting with other cats in their yard. Your cat is your responsibility, if you can't be bothered keeping it safe and off other people's property you shouldn't have one. ETA: To those who don't seem to understand that their animal should not be on anyone elses property but their own.....please tell me how you come to believe it is ok for your cat to be on my propety? Please answer that with something more convincing than "because it likes being outside". Totally agree here - I'm over the cat fights in my front yard, the stirring up of my dogs because of the numerous cats around. I've warned my neighbours that if their cats come into my backyard, I fear for their safety. I don't let me dogs roam, please don't let your cats roam. A cat run is totally acceptable. An animal roaming is an animal roaming - doesn't matter if it is a dog, cat, horse whatever. Owners have to be responsible for their animals and keep them contained on their own property. My house and land is not a public space. -
Totally loved watching this. Amazing dogs and owner and great walking/riding tracks. I'm sure in winter they would be covered in snow. I agree, nice mix of both these dogs but I wondered how they would go in winter when it is snowing as they all appear to have very short coats. I suppose he rugs them all. These dogs all looked happy and loved and well muscled (after all that exercise). :)

Just gorgeous - nothing better than a Rottie.

Hi, I certainly would use one - they have similar "members only" dog parks in the US - you have to pass a test before you can become a member and most have small and larger dog areas. One I saw had a lake and lovely rolling park grounds and it's own coffee shop!! It also had an area for training. Oh to be able to have some of these - membership was much larger than the $25-$35 that you saw, but I certainly would pay extra for piece of mind.

So very sorry SwaY - like everyone else we were all hoping for a happy ending.

Long Rant About A Scary Guy At An On Leash Oval
Adnil444 replied to lovemesideways's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sorry to hear about your experience Jen. I hope you both are ok. I agree with all the others - report this guy, at least he will be on their radar if anything happens again (hopefully it won't). Exactly what others have also said, I also avoid a lot of parks for that same reason. I've taken up jogging and Rosie is a great jogging partner! BTW - congrats on your new puppy- I'm sure Riddick adores him. -
Thanks for the link I was actually looking at them in one of the shops here on the weekend but thought I'd better ask other for ideas first...I have a habit of buying things then finding out a few days later that I could have got something better/cheaper/more suitable etc!!! I used to have a rotti that was chewer but that was back in the day when they didn't have as bigger variety for our "special needs" dogs Hi, I've had these and they last one day!! I now have the Australian Trampoline dog beds (you can get them either round or rectangular) and they have a metal frame on the outside so the dogs can't chew the fabric. Had these for over a year now and they are both in perfect condition. They cost me $278 each (large size) but it is worth it. Here is the website - www.trampolinedogbeds.com.au

Some people just won't get it and once they see the puppy that will be it. Most people actually believe that spoodle, puggle, etc etc are actual breeds. There is a guy I work with and is convinced his puggle is an actual breed. I've nicely explained to him that it is a pug x and you paid $1200 for a crossbreed (something 20 years ago would be given away for free), and that you have paid more for a crossbreed than a purebreed dog with all the testing etc etc that goes into it. But he still won't get that his puggle isn't a breed. When I go to my son's rugby games, I would have to be one of the few that has a dog that is not an "oodle" or "uggle" of some description. Most are the caramel colours - which is the latest accessory it seems to go with the SUVs that are driven. Most are purchased from pet shops or the direct from puppy farms. I belong to two obedience clubs and you don't see many attending training. From what I know many go to puppy school (it seems that this is the part that they do - because it's fashionable - but obedience classes are not - lol.

Attention Gsd, Rotties And Dobe Owners
Adnil444 replied to german_shep_fan's topic in General Dog Discussion
Personally to me the problem is the ease of access to purchasing dogs/puppies. If there was a ban on pet shops and internet selling of dogs and puppies, I'm sure we would see a decrease in the number of irresponsible dog owners - and that is the problem, irresponsible/ignorant dog owners, not the breeds. If every breed was owned by a responsible dog owner then we would never have the hysteria we are having now. Dogs and puppies should only be purchased from registered, ethical breeders or from rescue organisations. And only once the potential new owners are vetted for their knowledge of breed, social responsibilities, local govt rules and regulations, and all other aspects of owning a dog. Sites like gumtree should be stopped immediately, this site just promotes exactly what is causing these issues (along with pet shops). Personally I would like to see it harder to own a dog (in that I mean being able to purchase one in the first place). All dog clubs and individuals etc should be lobbying councils and government to ban dogs and puppies being sold over the internet and through pet shops. -
After a hard day's work to come and read this - just wonderful news. I've been thinking about them and hoping all is going to turn out well. Great communication by everyone.

Good luck with the search - as with everyone else, we are praying for the girls' safe return. I've flocked the msn article too. Thank god for social media so we can spread the word so much faster now.

Agree with you - dogs don't need to go to dog parks - there are other ways of exercising and socialising - meeting with a group of friends with their dogs is a great way of socialising as is joining an obedience club. Meet up with other likeminded people and all walk together with your dogs - keeps you and the dogs fit. I'm not a fan of dog parks if they are not segregated - dog parks should have a small dog area and a large dog area in my opinion. I've seen many accidents with small dogs playing with larger dogs and accidents do happen, not to mention any issues of aggression. I've had the opposite, where the small dogs have gone for my larger dogs and that has caused some issues.

Well written Kori - and I don't think there would be anyone that could disagree with you here. I just wish these people with these dogs never had them in the first place - life for us and our dogs would be so much easier and better all round. I've always thought you don't need money to be a responsible dog owner but you need an IQ!!
