group 5 BIG - Puli RUBIG - Australian Shepherd Not sure of the rest sorry -
You have a border collie puppy dont u?? if yes then no u dont need to remove the skin when he is a little older watch his weight and if he is looking a little chubby then try a leaner meat or remove the skin otherwise ur good to leave it on he will love it!!
-
i also work at a boarding kennel and have seen the extremly fat labs and some lovely fit looking labs.. i think that if they are a pet not working - as most are, then if ur theory is correct the extra layer is unecessary?? Just a though I also think that the leaner the better on their joints and better in the long run

I have heard of some pretty horrible stuff due to sore losers but this is just obsured i really hope it was naughty children but loosening wheels??!! WTF are these people thinking??! It would be attempted murder / manslaughter or outright manslaughter if anything occured in this case... Isn't the point of tese shows and sports to have FUN????? People make me sick - no wonder i like dogs better! -
I Know This Is A Dog Forum But..
kirst_goldens replied to mr.mister's topic in General Dog Discussion
i would say something like urine off as it also works as a deterent not just a cleaner another product is called Piss Off but that is just an odour absorber i would say go try catworld - its a forum but it is filled with breeders who own male entire cats and would have some really good ideas and some nice natural deterants as well rather then spending a small fortune on these mentioned -
there are 24 hr emergency vet clinics so i would hope - should the injuries be bad - that he has seen a vet no matter the day or holiday VERY fishy... as mentioned i know ppl do their own AI's but to ask a stranger for help at 8am is just odd and screams dodgy to me??
-
I was thinking more along the lines oh WTF is he doing?? the dog has been hit by a car and he is trying to work out how to mate it?? I dont care if he was a registered breeder that followed all the rules and had a great set up and breed the most wonderful dogs, give the dog a break it's probably seering with pain right now.

Irritated Eye. What Could It Be
kirst_goldens replied to pixie_meg's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
+1 we had a poodle come in to the kennels with this as his treatment as a just in case something happens as he is sensitive and of course something happened - it was windy! Well i love the treatment as it ia all natural and works a treat!! He had cleared up and was feeling much better after a day or so, we have used it on some other dogs at home as well and im a huge fan ;) -
google doggy doos, and box hill tafe also does a short course that i help teach but we are booked out till the second half of the year and it is a six week course - one day a week and its a saturday but sounds like what you would like?? doggy doos does a similar course and are also really good

Grooming Advice Required
kirst_goldens replied to muffinmclay's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
hahaha it can be a pain to groom the dogs that arnt used to being brushed and are very sensitive to it, but when u get dogs like crazy daisy's in it makes it all worth while i love grooming the dogs that love the attention i have one that comes in and will keep spinning around so that the dryer is blowing directly onto his face and when u turn him he gets all huffy hahaha the only dog i have known to do this but he is soo cute! I love getting puppies in as well get to make sure all their grooming experiences are really fun, so makes it more fun in the future!! i always reccomend to puppy owners to use the hair dryer in the same room as the puppy and progress slowly from there as mentioned earlier as it makes it much nicer for them and of course finish on a good note and give big cuddles and a treat!! -
just had another thought about the ears - i know another product of ur natropath, a wound spray, has vinegar in it so can sting in an open wound or rash - it does a GREAT job but can sting a little for a second or two, is there something like that in the ear drops that might be making his sensitive ears a little stingy?? Glad to hear he is getting better

Friend of mine got a 42' one and struggled to fit it anywhere cause it was SO big and is really not very transportable! I would say it would be too big for a lab, and you will probably find that ur dog will only lay down in it anywhere dogs dont usually sit in one spot for very long they prefer to lay down
-
i was thinking the same thing, try to make it thin and as invisible as possible and see how u go, u never know she might love it enough to learn to go in with a show lead!

Grooming Advice Required
kirst_goldens replied to muffinmclay's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
As a pet owner I have a large powerful dryer on a stand and my dogs are quite comfortable with it blowing on them as I groom them. I have Cavaliers and they're almost completely dry by the time I take them off the grooming table. Why would a pet owner not use a dryer on a dog i dont know any pet owners that own a dryer or would to think to use theirs on their dog, but i see now that there are alot that do I think its a great idea but didnt realise that it would be something a pet owner would do, im glad that u guys are though i think its fantastic investment and worth its weight in gold!!!! Also most pet owners come to me to get their dog bathed so dont do it themselves at home so would not need a dryer dont know why i never thought of it?? LOL -
hey Erny - might be a little obvious but u could try desensitising his ears by rubbing and touching during the day when u arnt doing anything bad?? sorry if this has already been said, at least he wont develop issues about touching his ears that way?? like i said probably really obvious but meh cant hurt to mention it! and to everyone else i know how dificult he can be when he wants to be lol have to be very persistant! wish he was food driven! very sweet man though love him lots

I agree with all of the above - though i doubt as a pet owner she would be using a dryer on the dog?? Carefull with the grooming sprays they work a treat but some can leave the coat greasy if over used so just lightly spray but a great idea And pls MAKE SURE U BRUSH THE TAIL!! the amount of 'oodles i do at work that the body and head and ears all GREAT but the tail is a complete clip off and when u tell the owner why they go 'OMG i never thought about that!' LOL Let us know what tools u decide on and how you go ? -

I agree but both are fanastic pets I would agree with all of the above i love a gubdog though so i think a springer would be great but i also would like to see a gundog allowed inside as they really do need social time with the family they are a real family type. -
We go to Brighton beach, and st kilda beach, KCC off lead areas and training grounds, herding with Smoothiegirl and doggy school on saturdays... i share my friends border collies until i get my puppy :D
