i will be harness training my goldie bub as well... we are driving from vic to QLD in June for the nationals so she needs to be able to be settled in the back alone... we will try to crate her in the car but will have to trial if the crate will fit set up :S otherwise harnessed in the backseat My sister offered to nurse the pup all 20 hrs to the north state... i said ummm can u say numb legs?? bahahahahaha silly girl!! make sure she feels safe and secure and she wil be fine

100% agree!! Some people think dogs should get treats just because u would think he would understand where ur coming from if he worked stock with dogs as they work for their meals... but some people cant see that as pets needing the same system... They dont work day in adn day out for us (mostly) so we need to create a situation for them to work for SOMETHING... If he doesnt understand then dont bother with him or avoid the subject... just tell him this is how i do it if u dont agree thats fine pls dont treat my dog... sounds harsh but it can undo al the training if he is sneeking them food for nothing!! We get it all the time in the kennels... puppy wuppy will miss me so heres a ginormous bad of treats for u to give them to make them feel better... they dont understand that we will become their pack and fill the hole then when they go home the original pack returns... they dont "miss" people... we have had dogs not give a crap about their owners at pick up time cause we bonded as a pack where as at home their is no leader... funny really.. ok rambling!! sorry hahaha

thanks guys!! i might check out bunnings for the wire SHazza, i have a 42 inch crate and a golden puppy so she will have too much room and may use half the crate as a toilet so ill divide the crate until she is bigger then she can have the whole crate

bugger i hope they are returned ASAP! the breeder of my baby had a lead from Sweden that she got with her bitch she imported it was gorgeous and had a slide made of ivory... was nicked from on top of her crate at Kyneton it wasnt returned so i hope whoever picked urs up has a conscience!!

I have looked everywhere and vebo are sold out and arnt getting them for 8 weeks and puppy comes home in 3... Its for a 42inch crate.. What are some ideas to make one? its a golden so i think she will chew cardboard??

The same thing would happen if it was made that rare breeds receive no points for not beating anything. We just do not have the numbers in a whole heap of breeds for much competition here in Austalia. 6 or 7 point challenges are it the majority of the time, and not by choice for most of us! Each and every judge has to sign their name that each and every challenge winner is worthy of their champion title. im currently handling a rare breed... and i totally agree people give me crap cause she rarely has competition... but at the end of the day she fits the standard and is worthy of the title otherwise she would be non awarded!! and rightly so!!

exactly !!! let's not "cheapen" our Ch titles. yep... (and no, I don't have a yard full of champions - yet to get one.) Would suspect though, that the Gr CH didn't stay out in the ring forever before the Dogzonline point score competition. I know of many Gr Ch that are only out there every single week because of this comp. Stop this comp, and the up and comers would have more opportunities that you are looking for with a separate ch class. Flame suit donned now.... I agree that many of the huge winners are staying in the ring to win this comp and their breeders/owners will openly admit to it...u can tell if they drop of the top position for the next few months they are at EVERY SHOW!! But i dont think we should discourage it at all... I am getting my first show pup in 3 weeks i expect it to be a hard slog to get her titled... adn not because she sint worthy but becasue it shouldnt be easy!! We should have to work hard for such a title on our dogs not EXPECT it just because we are showing it... it will be titled... i think having the GR CH in the ring keeps us trying and striving to better hte breed to beat these fantastic dogs As for the younger dogs not being able to crack the win over the older dogs... a minor puppy won BIG on the weekend as she was a stunner it was an incredible win for her breeder and owner and shows that not all judges are scared to put up older dogs... some dogs just need to mature before they can crack the win... some stay in the ugly puppy stage for a LONG time hahaha All in all i say leave it as is its easy enough to title a dog in Australia ATM according to visiting judges and show people...

i see it the same as rabbits... i dont like feral rabbits so i have no problem with the dogs getting them when they are outside.. it is natural to them shows their strong instinct I was worried about Myxo but found out that dogs are not affected so thats a bonus! and i guess these gophers are the same they are feral and potentially destroying the vines they may well be clever like the bunnies and soon learn that her property is no place to make a den?

interesting thread i am looking at getting one for a golden as well, what size is best?? We have one for the leonberger and it is reasonably easy to set up and i can carry it ok... but it was a cheap one and isnt used too often but the goldens one will be used HEAPS so need to be sure i get the right one..i noticed the royale one has no bag u have to buy it seperate? is this the case with all and we were lucky with the one we got??

interesting!! thanks poodlefan!! i have noticed a big difference in texture the white boy is very course but the black is more soft and silky and not as thick. Thanks for the tips i do FFT in a 15 on both atm so ill stick to that the owners dont like ti too short anyways and they both get 5 body clip so works well for them

poodle fan with the different coats colours and blades can u give more info?? i groom 2 std boy one white one black and she likes them to look the same but with the difference in the coats it is really hard!! maybe its the blades im using?? pm if its easier!! thanks

we havea few westies who come in to the kennels and they have a groomer who all the westie people go to but i believe they are in mornington?? i groom and i am in lyndhurst but it its a breed specific clip some i do all the time others not so much but i know others who would specialise in those breeds

get the breeder to show u how... taping the wrong way can ruin the ears and give them bad shape and set... very important they are done correctly by somone who can show u how yorkie ears are meant to be set...
