My point is theres no way for them to prove it's either breed without some type of testing and unless they have proof, they should not be making assumptions. It just adds more fuel to the BSL fire , 1 of the original articles i read regarding this story said "ambulance officers believe the dog is a pitbull x" ! I just wonder how many attacks have been documented as being bull breed attacks when in fact those dogs are a mixture of breeds .

Just an update re our stays . Well we might be back on track looks as though somebody was trying to test his mum out to see how much he could get away with ! :D we still get the occasional foot lift and the chewing on the grass during a drop stay but no drops during the sits and no sits during the drops , I too was reading through the rules for stays and was shocked when i read that you can lose points for fidgeting , but was also told by my instructor that the judge would have to be pretty pedantic to fault you for minor fidgeting ! Have a competition this weekend so we'll definately see if the training has paid off . Will let you all know how i get on .

and it begins again .......... BSL does not work . Show me the evidence this dog is what they are saying it is . Normal everyday non educated people have no idea what breeds are what , and could never identify the difference between the bull breeds. we have these types of everyday people working for our councils and governments and their the ones who design these stupid laws .
-
Stupid councils . I remember completing the survey that someone had posted on here not that long ago re this . I love the way that they just automatically assume it was staffy x pit bull from the attack early this week , I would love to know what reasons they had for stating it was a staffy x pit bull ! Could it be that they were just making it up , No ........surely not I'm sure they had some type of evidence to back their claim after all they are the government and they know oh so much about dogs and their welfare !

Theres some really dodgy advertisements online for animals . We encountered a couple of strange things when we were looking for an African Grey parrot , the People we contacted were oh so dodgy , one lady advertising them in Australia was actually in South Africa ! the other person we contacted was in Tasmania and wanted us to pay for the bird up front (full amount ) but could not give us an address or a telephone number !! Funnily enough we never did get our African Grey !!!! The add above sounds very dodgy !!

makes sense . a wait command for when you will be asking them to move and a stay for when they can not and should not move ! (notice how i say should not !!) Now this maybe a bit off topic but are any of you WA trialers from Bunbury area ???
-
mmmmm good question ! Does anybody use a stay command for anything other than stays and possibly SFE's ????
-
I use the exact same thing Tiggy and it was working . So i have been working on the whole stays issue since my last post and the methods people have posted are working . I have gone back to basics, i really don't want this issue to continue once we start trialling in open . So i have been working on the whole 3D theory duration , distance and distractions rewarding for the behavior i want . No moving feet or fidgeting . Seems to be working ( could be a whole nother story at a trial ... you know what their like !!!!!)

Oh Ruby Star i did see your you tube vid shame about the stays . You should be very proud of your scores for the rest of the test though fantastic work
-
Yay , this is great everybody. I just had the biggest surprise when i logged in cause yesterday i had 0 responses and now i have 20 this is awesome !!! What a fantastic you tube video re bomb proof stays i watched this lady before teaching drop a on recall - she has very good techniques . I will definately use this in future once i have established he understands what a stay is , and that he has (what everybody is calling it ) "steady feet ". Well I'm off to do some training
-
Thanks guys , will definately try going back to basics with him . Why do we punish ourselves like this ??? . You think you can be on the right track for so long and then these thing raise their ugly heads . All experience though we learn through our mistakes . ooh good luck in the western classic .

Thats ok i just thought that with 68 people viewing the topic you would think someone would answer !! Well im looking for ways of proofing my boy . He Usually does really well at stays but lately he has decided that he wants to get up when other dogs are wandering around or he just likes to fidget (when he fidgets he doesn't usually move up off the ground, in a drop stay he will pick at the grass and sniff the grass and in a sit stay he seems to just re adjust his front feet , i really don't like fidgeting as feel it leads to wandering ) He can also be really grumpy toward other dogs that come into his space which makes me really nervous and I'm really just trying to find out what other people do to proof their dogs in these circumstances. We are currently training for open and this issue has just come about of late . Diesel is 5 years old but we have only been competing for a couple of years. He has his CCD and CD titles . I do train at club twice a week where we get to do stays but not proofing staysdue to the different levels in our class (we are a very small club) . Any ideas would be great . Thanks
-
wow , so many responses . Which one should i read first ????.
-
How worrying for you. I suggest taking him back to the vet for a checkup it certainly can't hurt . hope he will be ok .
-
So good to see newbie show people helping out another newbie . I wish i had this support when i was showing . Usually the breeder will assist you with most things but i think Diva has already covered what you propbaly need to work on for his first show . Hope all goes well !!!!
-
Hi everybody, (This has propbaly been posted somewhere else on here already knowing my luck ) Was just wondering what techniques people have to create a solid stay with their dogs and what you may use to teach this .

Diesel and i are currently working on our Open stuff . We are learning dumbell at the moment he has progressed so well and loves his dumbell , and drop on recall (eeeeewwwww not working so far , if any one has any suggestions to improve this ,would love to hear it ). -
Uggghhh makes you mad doesn't it 1 idiot to make it worse for the rest of us !
-
Oh my god. Not sure it gets any crueller than that - a poor defenceless old blind cavalier. What absolute *#@*@# these people are. Not fit to walk the same earth, breathe the same air as the dogs they torture. Crazy to think that we still refer to these scum as people .
-
congratulations
-
good decision you will have the time to give the pup all the love and attention it needs for the rest of it's happy little life . ooooh don't forget the puppy pictures
-
i let them have a piece of my mind ;) You can tell straight away that the questions and legislation is made by people who have no expertise whatsoever with dogs or dog management . idiots . some of the questions were just sooo shocking especially the first one . makes me so mad

RIP beautiful .
