Advice Needed For Council Approval For 3 Dogs
GRLC replied to GRLC's topic in General Dog Discussion
The two objections were from council members , their was nothing on the letter to state that there was any objections from our neighbors . However this morning when i couldn't sleep i pulled all the letters out from council regarding my application and the first official letter after application states " before approval can be given a survey of all land owners adjoining your property will be undertaken to determine whether there is any community opposition to your application " It then says it will be presented to council and signed by some loser . If you read the letter as it is written it basically says that as long as there is no objections from neighbors it will be granted So it looks as though they havn't even visited the property at all and if so i was not aware that they were coming , and also they never advised me of when it was going to council for me to be there to state my case in full . At least the state administrative tribunal is a Third party and i can now use the above findings from my investigation work as my defense :D i will be ringing them tomorrow and asking for further details and if a property inspection has been done and ask why wasn't i notified when it was going to voted on . -
Advice Needed For Council Approval For 3 Dogs
GRLC replied to GRLC's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks everybody for the support and advice . I think i will approach the councile Blackdog to see if i can get a copy of the Subordinate Local Law to have a look at . The council had details regarding our oldest dogs issues , they had also already contacted neighbours and the neighbours did not have an issue with the number of dogs at our home . They had references details of where the dogs were registered previously . I could understand their decision a little bit more if i was requesting approval for a puppy , but we have had all these dogs since puppies and our previous council was more than happy to grant approval for 3 dogs . They were more than happy for me to pay 3 years registration for all 3 dogs when i first put the application in . I will be appealing the decision and it gets reviewed by the state administrative tribunal it has to be appealed in 28 days . I will keep you all up to date on our progress . Any other advice would be greatly appreciated . -
Well i have just moved to WA with our 3 dogs . Bebe a staffordshire bull terrier who is nearly 10 , Che a rottweiler who is 8, and Diesel another staffordshire Bull terrier who is 5 . On Arrival here 1 of the first things i did was seek council approval for 3 dogs . Went to the council filled out an application provided a reference from a neighbour who happened to also be my obedience instructor PAID registration for the 3 dogs for 3 years and waited for further contact . Council wrote stating thank you for your application and advised us that we would need a property inspection completed . We have had no contact since until today when i received a letter from them stating that application has been rejected and we can either appeal the decision or relocate one of the dogs within 3 months . The letter stated application had been rejected due to the following : 1. the size of the block at this residence is too small to keep this number of dogs 2. the size of the dogs involved are large (go figure ??? yes che would be considered large but definately not the two staffords ) 3. the property is located within a suburban area 4. 2 objections were received raising concerns about the size of the lot where the dogs are being kept . any advice would be greatly appreciated as i thought i was doing the right thing and i'm terribly upset about this . Bebe is 100% blind and stays inside throughout the day and night except when we go for walks and when she does poos and wees Diesel is obedience trained and he spends a lot of time living inside too and keeps Bebe company Che is the dog who is outside a majority of the time . The council contacted our neighbours and no one had an issue with us having 3 dogs . Their all microchipped , desexed they dont bark unless for a reason and they all have sufficient excercise . Our yard is a sufficient size for the dogs if it was where they spent a majority of their time and iwouldn't have purchased the property otherwise . Che and Bebes excercise requirements are quite different now then what they were when they were younger. Sorry for the long post but wanted to make sure i had all the information . Any suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated . Im so mad, lost and upset all at the same time . All i want to do is the right thing by my dogs and legally and it has been thrown back at me . If i had just registered the 2 dogs they wouldn't have been any of the wiser . Thanks in advance

Of All The Cheaper Dry Dogfoods Which Is The Best?
GRLC replied to Stitch's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have been feeding UA and GB for a couple of years now and no other product works as well for my dogs as these 2 . I am able to keep good condition on my energetic staffords and my rottweiler , they love it and there coats are amazing ! unfortunately now i have moved to WA i cant seem to find it here if someone in WA knows where i can get it please PM me ) so the trial and error begins again !!!! Does anybody feed the eagle pack dog food here ? if so how do you find it? is it good stuff ? -
My three thought it was Christmas when we finally got grass at our newly built house , they were always grazing on it . My Rotti is the only one who seems to vomit after eating grass (not all the time but sometimes ). I did read on here somewhere that grass helps the digestive system and quite often when I'm doing poo patrol their poo will often have some grass in it !!!!

what a cute lil boy you have

I have those days every day . I go to the ANKC website for the rules . It's actually quite interesting to have a good read through too , has heaps of info !
-
theres Nothing quite like a Stafford cry/talk is there ? When i was taking my oldest Stafford to obedience and looking at trialling her in CCD (before the blindness ) she talked the whole way through our training session . we'd be all lined up listening for our instructions and Bebe would be talking away , SFE forget it mum, this is a chance to tell the instructors exactly what ive been thinking sealed with a big kiss and a famous stafford headbutt !

Bebe my oldest Stafford has a white rip curl sign on her lower back .I would post a picture but can't figure out how to get picture on here .

More Stupidity And Selfishness In Local Dog Park
GRLC replied to Her Majesty Dogmad's topic in General Dog Discussion
Theres no way in hell that i would take any of my dogs to a dog park , the risk is just not worth it you don't know what your gonna have to face . wayyyyy to scary for me . breed bashing wont fix the issue either we all know all breeds of dogs are capable of having unsociable behaviors even the small ones . The owners of the Grey s were out of order if they were aware that their dogs could be aggressive and if the stupid law states that they must be muzzled in public for whatever stupid reason then they should have done this aswell . Some people are just soooo stupid and make life soooo much more difficult for the rest of us . -
poor bedazzled what an awful scary thing to have happen to you . it does make you mad especially when you don't feel safe anymore .
-
thanks for the advice everyone .Bedazzled i am so glad i don't have to worry about my hand position thing then . Maybe i will have a look at Bunbury club and see if it's what I'm looking for . Your right Ruby star i am dedicated that's why i want to make sure im joining a good club . I have come from a very small club where they are no longer affiliated because they are soo small and the only trialling experience we have is 1 very outdated harsh trainer and myself and my friend who's the other instructor (she used to be an instructor at Southern districts which is a huge club in Adelaide ) .
-
Sure why not the more the merrier Well I'll be in Bunbury and don't mind travelling for a good club , Does any one know anything about the Bunbury obedience club and do they have many members trialling ? I use a slip collar and positive reinforcement , toys treats etc so the club would need to allow these , and i like to have a bit of freedom with my training . I suppose I'm looking for a club where theres a lot of trialing experience and support and no nastiness :D
