Gremlins! -
my boy chipped his canines during a brawl when he was young - it will depend on whether the root is exposed, if its not painful it should be fine but as said above - the vet will often file them round

Drive Training Workshop
Akitaowner replied to Akitaowner's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
were looking at running some other workshops later in the year - possibly another TID session. If anyone might be interested in being kept informed of whats coming up please send an email to: [email protected] Thx B -
i went thru this with my 2. I put one outside preferably where they cant see in or the pup see them and just work it. You also should start to seperate them at other times of the day so pup doesnt get too reliant on the older dog. just start with a play session - this is special one on one time for pup so make a big fuss of them - dont worry about working too much to start with until they are concentrating on you and ignoring the other dog :D

Cleaning Correction Chains
Akitaowner replied to nillasdad's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
if its the water they must be chrome - stainless will last forever. i have a chrome chained martingale which is all corroded froma few yrs use but my prongs which get weekly at least swim in the ocean look brand new after 18 months i would suggest getting a stainless one for a white coated dog - i dont know if the marks on the coat will stain permanently? -

Akitaowner replied to westielover's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
yep ive been to a few on the north shore - the one mentioned above was great - good amount of dogs and people and classes also st ives showground on a sat (cant rememeber anymore details that was a long while ago) loads of dogs and heaps of classes - a bit to results/workign dog focused and not enough trouble shooting for me -
also check the ears - a friends rescue was always very sick looking and didnt like car travel had her ears seen to (had long term infections and were blocked) and regular cleaning and now shes fine with the car - in fact loves it

Nearly everyone has paid in full (PIF), anyone that has missed out is still welcome to contact me with regards to the next session. more details will follow by email nearer the date -
you need to decide where you want her to sleep as an adult 1. in the house 2. in the bedroom 3. in the laundry and then work towards that. If pup has already been in the bedroom sleeping the transition to somewhere else maybe be a bit whiny and noisy until pup realises what is happening. If your happy with pup in the bedroom why not just get a crate for the bedroom? make sure its big enough for pup as an adult. place bedding etc all in the crate - a crate really is just another box! Dogs will hold their bladders longer as they get older however mine (who sleep in the house, but not our bedroom) are always up and about at about 6 and tend to 'entertain themselves' if we dont get up and give them brekkie. it was only around christmas i stopped using a very large pen (she outgrew her crate) for my girl (whos now 20 months) she was confined, as she used to get up to mischief before we got up, but had plenty of room a bed and her chew toys. she could still see and sniff my boy who had run of the rest of the house, but not the bedrooms. you might find a puppy pen better than a crate somewhere in the house. Providing you keep your regular schedule of toileting pup shouldnt mess - or need to wake you up. Also depends if pup is a climber...

Is Drontal Making My Puppy Sick?
Akitaowner replied to kimness's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
hows old is your pup? could quite possibly be the drontal - many dogs have some kind of reaction to it in the first 48hrs such as the runs or just feeling a bit off colour - i wouldnt expect it to last a week tho... -

Hi Luke Great idea - If you mention you are attending K9 force to Madisons you should recieve a discount anyway Regards B -
this all sounds very normal - as above its dominance not jealousy - dogs dont associate the same things as humans do with emotions. I would suggest getting a puppy play pen for them - this way they both get some space and have to learn that time spent with you (as pack leader) is precious and they have to behave to be allowed it. Depending on how dominant your boy is you will also have to watch them as she gets to around the 9-15month age when she may challenge him for his pack position - most boys back down to a girl but it depends on the circumstance - it may go unnoticed by you but pack shifts will always be happening

Thought some of the new puppy owners might interested in this - its great for all the ball or tug junkies out there: Training in drive
