Great photos everyone Asti has great facial expressions! "If you take one more photo... I'll bite you!" "I hate BUBBLES!" "Geez! Some puppies are CRAZY!"
-
Thanks tlc! I was lucky with the shot as the tide was coming in and the water had just receded to make it look like there were only Asti's foot prints on the beach
-
I think I might be early with this post... we went to the beach today so was a perfect photo op! The look on Asti's face says: "catch up before the water comes to get us again!" - the tide was coming in and she didn't like to walk along the shore line in case her feet got wet! Photo Editing Software For Apple Users
SammieS replied to carebear's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
We used Photoshop in Uni but now I use Lightroom... I notice you're in Brisbane - I went to a photo editing course to learn about all the about photo editing software and that's how I chose lightroom. The course is run by Dean Holland and the Photo Editing course info is here http://www.takebetterphotos.com.au/photo-e...urses-info.html - The awesome part is that you can go back to the course as many times as you like within 12 months and you get cheat cards to take home Edited to say that he's going to be offering Mac software courses in 2011 -
I spend so much time in this photo thread - If you guy are going to do it I think I definitely want to too!

We like Nudgee Beach as I haven't ventured up to Bribie but have heard that Red beach is good too! Nudgee isn't nice human swimming beach but Asti loves it especially when she doesn't see the holes left from yabbie pumpers and falls straight in! Asti with sand on her face after running into a hole whilst looking the other way Its pretty busy in the carpark but one you get out there you can let them off leash and let them run for miles at low tide!

Frenchie Zoomies - they have special inbuilt ears that go flat to increase speed and reduce wind resistance!
-
I love it! Although the music with the photos makes me sad...
-
That's awesome! I definitely don't get Asti's complete attention like that dog gives his owner!!! Elbie's probably happy he hasn't met a Frenchie, they very social and want to play with everyone even if others don't want to play with them. What's the name of the Oxley one? I live in Moorooka so Oxley isn't too far away :D Do they do agility too?

I got Asti's breakaway collar from here. Asti has a purple one, the collar is great and Erin was fantastic to ship it next day!

It's ok, you can ask. Elbie's a bit of a social mutant. He has been socialised since an early age with people and other dogs - puppy class, beginners class, bronze class. He is not shy, not afraid and is very happy to be around and next to other dogs and play near them and will chase a frisbee BUT ... he doesn't seem to enjoy actually playing WITH them. He doesn't enjoy being chased, he doesn't like body-slams ... In class, he is ok if the next dog crawls over onto his mat and eats his head and treads all over him - but in the open area, he will not initiate play. If a ball or a frisbee is thrown he will chase it but if other dogs go for it - he will walk away. It's a bit weird, I know. In class, the giant dogs frequently nibble on him, squash him and slobber on him and he ends up with dog drool all over his head and he's relaxed ... I've consulted with Kelpie people and they've said that Kelpie's don't like other dogs getting in their face during play so it's possible that it's the Kelpie in him ... He is getting better - for instance, he knows wuffles' dog Ava pretty well now and will seek her out to say hello even though he doesn't play. I'm comfortable he's not fearful - it's the chasing/playing thing that I'm dealing with right now. Oh ok, thanks for explaining! Has Elbie met any Frenchies? Asti loves to play and plays hard (when the dog isn't a staffy or a Mastiff she's freaked out by them)! so maybe Elbie and Asti wouldn't play well together, she doesn't understand that sometimes dogs 'just don't want to play with her' Wuffles et al - You guys have almost inspired me to find some sort of obedience/agility training in the Brisbane area for Asti and I to attend although I have a feeling I'd be realy out of place considering Frenchies aren't working dogs and everyone would laugh at me as sometimes she has a mind of her own and is so bloody stubborn... I'm thinking of rigging up some sort of 'home agility' course in our backyard instead.

I have read similar things to this through the tread and I was just wondering why Elbie wouldn't stay to play with the other dogs? You can tell me to mind my own business but was just interested...

Another photo so that this awesome thread doesn't get moved out of the photos section... I have a new-ish camera so thought I'd add an artistic photo!

This is the special dog birthday cake that puggies Lola and Max had at their birthday party... Lola thought it was great licking her chops before it was cut!
-
This thread gets updated so much its hard to keep up! Yes Asti is a fiesty one!!! She thinks she's a big dog! Personality Plus! I wouldn't have her any other way... Puppy Birthday Parties are so much fun! There is a company in brissie that specialises in dog parties and birthday cakes... they're pretty impressive with their biscuits and potato, I'll see if I can find a photo of the birthday cake from a party we attended 3 months ago. Seen as this is a photo thread - here's one from last weekend! its Asti and her mini-me frenchie play mate Ella (note the one ear up and one ear down...)!
-
We bought Asti that icecream cake from Woolies and sang Happy Birthday and everyone got a mostly small piece of cake (minus the chocolate layer which meant the humans got extra!) We got Asti at 8 weeks and they started coming up around 10 weeks of age and it happened over about 4 days, she looked like the flying nun at one stage... Sometimes it can take up to 6 months for them to stay up. Thanks for welcoming me into the thread!
-
Thank you! She's great when she's sleeping and tired but when she's all fired up... watch out! hahaha

haha clastic!!! IT TAKES AGES TO WRITE THESE POSTS! and i'm being careful to save it incase I have to rewrite it as my puter sometimes forgets what I type... I came out of the shadows to post Maverick's story.. where's yours? I love this thread and thanks for letting me lurk around... Asti's Story: Ever since I was little I have been allergic to dogs, I would break out in big red itchy welts which would make me scratch, it didn't matter which dog it was so I want always told to stand still and never pat dogs, I have sort of grown out of some of my many allergies but not really the cat-dog-fish-horse-grass-dust-pollen-food ones! So instead OH and I got two turtles and when we bought our house we also got two Eclectus parrots Fred and Ruby. So, 2 years ago my best friend bought a Pug called Baxter! He's such a lovely little man who's motto is 'Make Love not War'... we fell in love with him and to our surprise I could cuddle him all I liked and didn't get a rash!!! So OH started to investigate pug-like dogs and found out about Bostons and then Frenchies! There was a breeder near us with a litter so we 'went for a drive JUST TO PLAY WITH THEM' and see what happens... which as you know means 'we're going to buy one if you don't swell up!' so after 4 hours and no preparation for bringing a puppy home we bought Asti and there were no allergies in sight! So after a rather expensive trip to Pet Wise on the way home we had Asti! She's been the best thing in the world and I really couldn't imagine not having her around! She's a fiesty little bugger and gives her mate Baxter a run for his money but they love eachother all the same. Here's some photos... I wish we had have got more of her when she was tiny... Before her ears came up... So tiny having a bath Asti and Baxter Asti not happy about the candle on her first birthday cake ;) Asti recently running around our backyard which is now turfed (if that's a word)

Its definitely a Boston Terrier, but cute all the same!!!
