  1. Thanks for the advice everyone. Last time we were over there on holiday Josh really suffered from the nasty ones hence the reason for asking which boots would be the best. Im not sure he will adapt as where we live we have grass all year round and we live near the beach so his feet are pretty soft. cheers for now myboyjosh
  2. Hi We are heading to the mainland soon and have been warned about bindies and 3 corner jacks. So was wondering if dogs boots would help our boy and if so what would be the best brand. Thanks myboyjosh
  3. Thanks for your replies. Josh is on steroids,10mg per week, but has been for awhile so not sure if this is the problem. His coat is wiry on his back line and his skin is a bit dry and flakey.
  4. Hi My Goldie josh has been on allergy therapy now for about 2 years. His skin issues has improved, not massively, but an improvement non the least, but lately he seems to be shedding heaps. He had some blood tests done and they came back all normal. So I was wondering if anyone out there could suggest what we could try to minimise this shedding. We go back to vet next week but was hoping some one out there has had the same problem we are having and what they have done to help before I blow up my vacuum cleaner 7Gimk
  5. Hi Erny I really hope that Augustine's Superfood helps you with Mandela as it sounds like both you and him deserve a break. I may give it a go as it sounds pretty good. Best of luck with every thing myboyjosh
  6. Hi Erny I too am interested on how things are going on the Augustine Superfood with Mandela. I am interested in trying it out for my allergy friendly boy :D but a bit cautious with regard to the expense of it all. I hope all is going well for you still regards myboyjosh
  7. Thank you so much for that. It gets me well and truly on the right track. Just one more question do you add any supplements, if so what would they be?
  8. Hi everyone I have been doing some research on elimination diets for my goldie. I get that you use one meat and one vege but at what ratio do i do it. By this I mean how much meat to vege. Do you add vitamin supplements while they are on this diet? He is book in to see a dermatologist in August but his itching is getting rather bad so thought I would start now. Thanking you myboyjosh
  9. No luck here either with the fish one. Made poor Josh a mess. He had a massive reaction to it. Oh well back to the drawing board as well.
  10. One of my dogs was getting hot spots and the other is just a general all around itchy dog. They have both improved since being on TOTW fish. I really cannot believe the difference in my Staffords black coat though - she has always had a healthy looking coat but she now just looks amazing, almost as if I have oiled her. :D Thanks Clyde and Tobster. Fingers crossed it will help Josh. How long were your dogs on it before you noticed a different in their coat and skin?
  11. Hi I was wondering if any-one that is now trying Taste of The Wild has noticed an improvement on their dogs skin as far as itching and scratching goes. I have just purchased our first bag of the fish one and am really hoping it helps with Josh's itching. Thanks :D
  12. Had the biggest scare of my life the other day. Was inside ironing when a baby bird ran across the turning circle at the front of our house. Weird but not unusual as they sometimes fall or get blown out of their nests. Then my goldie Josh went out side to investigate the noise the mother bird was making. I assumed she was upset because of the baby running around on the ground. I followed him out and here he was standing under a large shrub/tree just outside the front door. As I walked over to see what he was staring at the shrub/tree hissed at me . Thank goodness Josh was standing SOOO still, so I quietly called him out and rushed him inside. When I went back here was the tiger snake exiting the shrub/tree exactly where Josh had been standing. The snake had been after the baby birds in the nest as one had already been bitten by the snake and was dead on the ground. This is what Josh had been staring at. Hubby and I then went to work and cut down all the shrubs/trees outside near the front door. What I cant understand is why did Josh freeze like he did? His head was just resting on one of the lower branches staring at the dead baby bird. Normally he would have picked it up and ran off with it to play with. Any way we now have a very bare garden out the front and Im sorry to say some very upset birds as they have been nesting in those shrub/trees for so long.
  13. Thank you sas for the info now I know how much to feed my dogs. Soaking seems to be the way to go as it does absorb so much water. My 2 dogs just love their "jelly" on top of their food.
  14. Hi Ptolomy How much do you sprinkle on top of their food? I am open to any suggestions with regard to feeding as I am still unsure which is the best way.
  15. Thanks again Bisart Dobes. Just one more question do you feed the Chia Seed dry or do you soak it first?
  16. Thanks Bisart Dobes Have you noticed any difference in their coat etc since they have been having it and "super powder" what is that lol?
  17. Hi Was wondering if anyone out there feeds Chia seed to their dog and if so how much? Have been taking it myself as it seems to be the "new wonder seed' so was hoping it could be given to my Goldie. It seems to be better than Flax seed as there appears to be no known allergic reactions to it. It is high in Omega 3 and 6. Thanks Myboyjosh
  18. I had a GSD bitten by a tiger snake a few years back and he lost all muscle mass in his rear legs. We swam and swam him for weeks until he was almost back to normal. Then I walked him up and down hills to strengthen his leg muscles (bit like physio for humans) . It is a long and slow process but with Max it did seem to improve him. He never trotted like a normal GSD after that he paced (like a pacer horse) and we were never sure if this was a result of him compensating for the muscle damage or not.
  19. I am in the same boat ellz with feeding a raw diet as I too live in Tassie. But isnt chicken liver ok to feed here as there is no hydatid in chicken. Or isnt chicken liver any good for dogs? I did email Ian Billinghurst with regard to feeding raw without offal here and he emailed me back saying there will be a rep here in tassie for the BARF diet but unfortunatley my darling hubby deleted the email so I cant remember the contact details.
  20. And here is a close up of him doing it. He has two teddies so I can wash one because they tend to stink after awhile ha ha. Before he had two he sat beside the washing machine until his teddy came back out. He wasnt impressed about it being away from him.
  21. Hee hee and I thought Josh was the only one who did this He gathers tedbear up and sleeps like this. Funny thing is he will rotate it until it is in the exact same position each time
  22. I'm sorry to say persephone that it is here in Tassie illegal to feed human grade offal to our dogs. I really appreciate the info you have given me though thank you very much I do not wish to get into a debate about the rights and wrongs of this law. It is how it is I'm sorry.
  23. Yes we can but as I stated it is ILLEGAL to feed it to your dogs.
