So Im curious...when YOU (or if you ever have) played dead around your dogs what do they do? Mine all react differently, but mostly what I found interesting was my youngest (8month old Sushi) goes bezerk if I lay down on the ground on my stomach, close my eyes and dont move. The others sort of dance around me and sniff and Rogue has sat on me lol, but Sushi, noses my face, licks me all over and if I can lay still and not react through all that, she gets more silly and starts pulling my hair and trying to turn me over, and sort of starts digging in my armpits. Does anyone elses do this kind of thing? I like to think shes trying to 'save' me lol.

Looking For Thread About The Best Cars For Dogs
tommygirl replied to lovemymutts's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have a Toyota Rukus and love it . Good on fuel, with all the seats folded down I can fit a couple of crates in for my bullies, gazebos, chairs etc and still have a load of room. Plus the leather interior is awesome for just dusting off the dog hair -
Comfortis and heartard here too. We had dramas with fleas a while ago, spent a fortune on flea treatments, bombing the house etc etc, and in the end comfortis was the only one that got rid of the little buggers.

I had a heap of these type when we sold our car. They offer more than asking price, supposedly pay by paypal (but send you scam paypal emails - always read very carefully the email address), then ask you to pay back the extra via Western union to the third party who supposedly will pick up the goods. There is never any intention to get the dog or item off you, just for you to transfer the difference via western union. Same for us when we were selling some furniture through trading post. If you are ever 'suss' on people just type their email address and 'scam' after it into google and if there is anything suss it comes up. One particular guy who did this same thing for us came up everywhere for a scammer, from cars, to furniture to horses! All same story, moving here from overseas, paying top dollar etc, pay by paypal and do the difference as a refund...

Havent used the audio CD's, but I just have a radio/tv going and then as they get a bit older move the whelping box out into a busier area so we are walking past, banging around in the kitchen etc. I am the same, have no children and its just my partner and I. I havent seen any sign that any of them are skitty with loud noises etc..and I have stayed in contact with almost all puppy homes. Enjoy babies!

I do them at 4 weeks...accuracy- well it can vary. We saw 4 on the ultrasound at 28 days after last mating, ended up with 7... we tend to do it to just confirm.

I justed voted. Great story . When I voted you it made you both on 133... -
Seems its different in every state, so best to check with your states transport authority for where you stand.

Ok, so I rang Qld transport, cause I was curious if what I was told about the fine thing was actually true...I copied and pasted from their website the rules on animals in cars/bikes. Seems fine only applies if animal is actually on your lap, otherwise ok. Carrying an animal If you are carrying an animal in your vehicle or on your motorcycle, you must be in control of the vehicle or motorcycle at all times. Question: What is the new rule regarding carrying animals? If you carry an animal on your lap while driving a car, or on the petrol tank of your motorcycle, you risk being fined $233. Question: Can I sit an animal on my lap while driving? No, animals are unpredictable and distract drivers and riders. If a dog moves in the vehicle, or becomes agitated in response to some outside influence, the driver risks losing control of the vehicle or motorcycle. Question: How should I carry my animal in my vehicle? So long as the animal is not in your lap (or sitting on the petrol tank of your motorcycle) and not affecting your control of the vehicle, there are no rules prohibiting how you should carry your animal. It is advised however, that you securely restrain your animal using either a restraint or house the animal in a suitable cage or container. Question: Can I carry my dog on the petrol tank of my motorcycle? You must not allow an animal to ride or sit on your motorcycle petrol tank. However, if a farmer needs to cross a road to travel to an adjoining private property, a farmer may carry an animal on a motorcycle petrol tank for 500 metres only while traversing the road. Question: Can I carry a dog or another animal in another place on my motorcycle? Yes, so long as the dog or animal is secure and the stability of the motorcycle is not affected. From what I have heard here in Qld, its the same penalty as a seatbelt fine with regards to cost and point demerit, but to get the right answer I would call Queensland Transport, or the equivalent for your state to confirm. I cant see any info on their website.

Agree'd. Nothing worse than a dog that starts bucking and carrying on when a strange person puts their hands on their face... Edit to add- it doesnt bother me personally either way though!
-
So nice to see a feel good story
-
The appauling part is the very minimal penalty for doing something like this!
-
What kind of a sick kid does that? Glad to hear the dog is on the mend.

Wish I was closer, would help out. Poor baby. -
I personally don't take deposits until after pups get their BAER testing done, which is 6 weeks, and they have had vet check etc done. I dont let people put a name on a pup before this point as If there was anything wrong I would hate to have taken someones money and had their hopes up only to tell them there was a health issue...haven't had it happen but it's a 'just in case'. I don't ask for them but if a buyer wants to leave one I would take it and give them then their choice of pup (after me of course!) At least from that point you know they are serious...
-
Agreed. I really dislike time wasters in general. Our last litter, I had this guy hassle me out about getting a pup, ringing me at least once a week (sometimes a few times a week) to double check he was for sure still getting one, at the start when he enquired he was offering me more money than the asking price to gaurantee himself a pup (which I told him was not necessary at all), then organised to come and pick one after they got their hearing tested- day and time organised, then never rocked up. I rang and text'd that day saying whats going on etc...then I got this txt message saying, he couldnt get a pup, his grandmother in Italy was sick and he had been over there so now had no money...the space of time between last contact and this message was 3 days, found it very hard to believe he had been to Italy and back in this amount of time...and for someone who was calling me flat out why text it, not just pick up the phone like he had been doing for the past 2 months? Very odd. Glad he didnt get a pup now! People whinge about breeders replying to emails etc, but I tell you I get sick of people who waste your time, so its easy for me to understand why breeders dont reply to emails they dont get a good feel for. I have found a lot of people who email are time wasters, and I like to get a feel for potential homes and prefer to talk to enquiries- so my puppy adds always say very clearly- do not email, please phone only, emails will not be answered...but people still email? So for me, time wasters do my head in!
