  1. I cant imagine having your bitch whelping at a show - how stressful that must be for her, a public place - other dogs around - noise...their senses are so heightened during whelping - for some it must be terrible. Stay Home - simple - the same bits of satin and glassware will be available the next weekend. Justine
  2. Shaar is correct, in Tas when showing Baby Puppies, the number doesnt have to be provided - it can be shown number applied for (NAF) using the name that you have applied for that puppy. It is not until Minor that numbers are compulsory. Justine
  3. When you register a litter you include the microchip numbers of the pups and both parents. The chip number only appears along side the registered pup's name etc but not for parents or g parents etc. Justine
  4. We have had the rule here for a couple of years now (at least) - doesnt seem to cause any problems. Justine Bustabones SBT Tas
  5. I personally couldnt see the need for more than 4 litters from any 1 bitch. If she is such an excellent whelping bitch (as described above) then surely you would have at least 1 better young one from her to continue on with and if you cant get from her anything from 4 litters, then maybe she just isnt a producer. One of our best producing bitch has had 2 litters and from that has given us 3 lovely bitches to continue on with (better than herself) and 2 boys to use later on - what more does she need to do ?? Our English Imported bitch had 1 litter before contracting pyo (sadly) but still from her 3 beauties, so all wasnt lost and no need for 4, 5 or 6 litters. JMHO Justine Bustabones SBT Tas
  6. Would love to for sure, but not when the dogs have to go into quarantine for a month on the way home - not just for a dogshow. Justine
  7. WA facilities by a mile and NSW for the variety and centralness to Vic and QLD. WA and Tas and to a lesser extent SA, if someone in your breed has a dog or dogs that dominate there is no escaping - 1 show on any given weekend. Whereas in NSW and Vic you can go show elsewhere if you choose, some enter both options and see who is entered - we saw in NSW someone turn up look who was there and get in there car and go to the other show !! lol Best grounds in Tassie - IMO Ulverstone once the toilets get a revamp and love the after Royal Show at New Norfolk. Justine
  8. Well I have been showing Staffordshire Bull Terriers now for 24 years and my French Bulldog baby (4mths) does BIG tantrums on the lead lol my own fault he is so very spoiled Dont feel embarassed the penny will drop - baby puppy classes IMO are for them to have fun, they are a long time in the Open Class. There is photographic evidence on Facebook of my boys tantrums....ooops ! Although I will confess to some 5min training classes this week after work - hubby is showing him this weekend while I am away judging Good luck with you baby and most of all ENJOY. Justine
  9. Yes you can show a Champion that is now desexed and the title would appear as you have indicated. ;) Justine
  10. Oh well it will be interesting ... I personally dont think we will see it offered alot here in Tas as there is traditionally very little support of the neuter classes....but I have a couple of neuters at the ready and have threatened my old GRCH boy if he doesnt pull his head in lol Justine
  11. Is it printed in the schedules that the classes count for Neuter points, at shows where only classes 18 and 18a are offered ? This means the neuters of all ages would be lumped in together - only one class for dogs and only one class for bitches. My understanding was that for clubs making the neuter points available under the new system - the format was as Spikepuppy has cut and paste with the full range of classes and judged class winners against each other for Neuter Challenge exactly as the entire classes are judged - otherwise it is just a neuter class as has been traditionally offered with no points >>?? Just my understanding of the new system. Justine
  12. A coat spray does do something Sandra it makes abit of shine - it doesnt change a colour or alter the dogs natural make in any way, it just brings out abit of already existing gloss. A dull unconditioned coat wont shine no matter what you put on it. I suppose an example of applying something to deceive is colouring a dudley nose or black chalk or dye on a B&T, applied with the intention of deceiving the judge and altering the dog. I guess deceive is to apply product to correct a fault or imperfection - whether you add coat spray or not makes no difference to the dogs faults or virtues imo its just abit of showbiz, much like whether the handler wears a suit or tracky dacks.....just the presentation. I like to bath the dogs for every show, add abit of coat spray and I wear a suit - I dont trim whiskers but I do trim tails...my personal opinion and not hurting anyone else. Justine
  13. Hi Sandra we are actually allowed to use a coat spray in Tasmania - we are only not allowed to use anything that alters or changes the appearance. Justine
  14. Everyone should have to steward, work in the office & work in the canteen at least once a year......some wingers might realise that is is unpaid and unrewarding but if no one did it then there would be no show !! JMO Justine
  15. Staffordshire Bull Terrier # 1 Now the 10 others in no particular order French Bulldog Boston Terrier Lakeland Terrier Glen Of Imaal Pomeranian Norfolk / Norwich Terrier American Staffordshire Terrier Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Lhasa Apso Portuguese Podengo W/C
