We will have reptiles, rats, day old chooks etc. People and Dogs committee from SACA will be having a stand, but I still have room available for anyone else interested in maybe having a breed display or one for their own kennel. You will need Public Liability insurance, and to pay for your own tickets in, but at a discounted rate of $9 an adult instead of $14 and that is all. The space is free, it is however outside so a little marquee/tent would be probably advisable. This is an interactive display so all based on education and information. Friendly dogs, vaccinated puppies etc. If you are interested anyone can contact me at the Gawler Show office Monday to Friday 9.30 - 4.30 on 85231477 or by email on [email protected] Gawler Show is the largest country show in SA, with over 25 000 people in attendance over the two days. We host the World Cup FEI event for the Horses so would be fantastic if we could show off some of our wonderful breeds and breed clubs for Man's Best Friend.

I did the walk in Adelaide and it was packed, we took our boy Bodhi who is Bruno's litter brother and our Mastiff girl Mali who is 15 months and my Xbred Malamute girl who is 6. They all behaved beautifully cept when Bodhi cocked his leg on a little Cairn Terrier, but his owner had him on a retractable lead about 6 metres away so her fault for not watching him. My lot behaved really well once they got over their general excitement at all those doggy behinds to sniff. My mastiffs, big sooks that they were were quite happy to be the centre of some attention from passer bys with all the normal questions and comments. This is our gang down at the walk And Bodhi at 20 months My girl Mali 15 months My Xbred Malamute girl at home with my youngest daughter It was a great day, can't wait till next year - heaps of dogs lots of lil ones, but it was Adelaide so city folkdon't often have the room for a big dog. Did see some beautiful Danes, and an Old English Sheep dog and maybe some Bull Mastiffs, was really hoping for a Newf for my fluffy dog fix but didn't see any - maybe next year

this is of interest to me as well, and I will be reading the previous link throughly, but does anyone know the process and cost for the same with semen. it seems very hard to learn the ropes, I am dedicated to my dogs, but have not been involved since a child and I constantly feel disadvantaged. I am a sponge and am trying to soak up as much as possible

Could make it on the 18th.

Chicken Affecting Hormone Levels
Zali Lane replied to Zali Lane's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks guys I appreciate the insight, how then do they get those meat bird chooks so big in such a little time. I think they are ready for the table at 16 weeks, if they dont give them hormones, then gould the food be genetically modified or was this person just old school and perpetuating the rumour? -
Hi Someone said to me the other day that pure bred dogs who want to be used for breeding should not be fed chicken, necks, carcass's or meat as the hormones can affect their fertility and success of a pregnancy. Does anyone know if there is any truth in that.....?

Reckon I would also add a phone call to RSPCA, they are dwn that way in Adel. A skinny 6 month old dog without registration or vaccination..... RSPCA are the only ones who can lay charges for neglectful behaviour and also contact various dept's to ensure registration and future follow up on pups health. They can also have the courts impose bans on future pet ownership. Good Luck what a horrible predicament to be in, I am so glad Cody found a new home I hop Macky gets the same 2nd chance. Would presume the initial arguements from the two came from neither being desexed or a food issue if both were being under fed

Hi All I have booked my boy in to have his Hips and Elbows Xrayed next week then have the films sent off to be scored, I am new to this and am having them done thru Noah's Crossing Vet in Lewiston. I know they advertise thru SACA jpurnal and a lot of breeders/showers use them, just wondering if I am going to the right place and others are happy here. Is the scoring an accurate testing or can it be dependant on the placement of the dog?

Channel 7 website has a bit where you can replay any episode that you may have missed, if anyone wants to check it out or missed it the first time then check it out there -
I am hoping to come to the one in Feb, pups should be old enough for me to leave at home, the only difficult thing will be who to bring with me, if hubby comes I can bring 2, but then 3 will be left at home Shall wait and see closer to the day, it will make decision easier if one is in season. Dixi should stay with pups so guess she may make the march one

Such a hard time, and decision to make. Her smiling face will be waiting at the bridge, to meet again

What a pretty face. RIP Annabelle. -
What a fantastic idea to help your little girl process the grief, I bet it helped her heaps to hear from Bear, and to know he was happy. Beautiful

Run Free Little Bebe, Free Of Pain At Last
Zali Lane replied to Her Majesty Dogmad's topic in Rainbow Bridge
It was so nice that she got to enjoy what should be the normal life of a dog after years of neglect. What a fantastic home you provided, if you post your video of her drinking tea I would love to see a link to it. RIP BeBe -
Am so sorry to hear of your loss and the quick demise, how awful. she sounds like she is in her favourite place, and will remain close to your hearts forever. A big dog, A big heart and an even bigger loss. My thoughts are with you Flash's mum

We gave Max our beautiful boy his wings today. He was our first Mastiff ever and has turned our lives upsidedown, with love for the breed. He just passed his 13th birthday and would still do the puppy dance at dinner time or try to. Time wore hardest on his back legs but still was able to tug at our heart strings right to the end. Holding your head and watching you in the last few moments was so hard but I had to be there as you were always there for us and I couldn't let you go without taking you to the gates of rainbow bridge myself. We love you Maxi, simply saying Thank you for sharing your life and spirit with us does not seem enough. We will miss you forever. May you spend your days in the sunshine forever. You have a special place in our hearts forever. :)

Thanks guys all very interesting and so sad, I have sent my friend this link now so that she can follow along with any post that may offer a therapy that she has not tried yet. It is so sad to see and hear these stories, where loved animals have to face such unbelievable battles, my heart goes out to anyone with an issue similar to something like this 17 months is not long enough.....

Hi All I have a friend with a Bull Mastiff brought from a registered breeder who is 17 months old, she has been diagnosed with Auto Immune Poly Arthritis. She is now having to consider her babies quality of life, I was just wondering if anyone knows any sort of miracle.... is this a possible breed fault or is it just a one off bad luck. I feel so bad for her with Xmas being only around the corner and having to tell her 2 legged kids. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks
