  1. I am shocked at the job the vet did on our foster dog vader. Again, not our normal vet but one recommended by the rescue group. Won't be taking a dog back there. Stitches have been out a fortnight and it's a really grisly scar with bumps and stuff - its like they didnt even match up the two sides they sewed together! Too many lumps and bumps.
  2. Not really... my dog doesn't find other dogs all that interesting and will rarely play with other dogs, there are many things that she finds more enjoyable and fulfilling. There are SO many things our dogs can get enjoyment from than just playing with other dogs. I could use the same argument for people who don't do dog sports - why not when the dog finds it so enjoyable, aren't their dogs missing out on something great too? In reality many dogs don't do much more than laze around at home and go for the odd walk, that doesn't mean their lives are any less enjoyable or fulfilling than a dog who is trained every day and competes in dog sports and is always being taken out and about - or that the dog that doesn't do any dog sports isn't "happy". Also just want to point out that having met Huski's Daisy, shes a happy well adjusted little dog, and definately the apple of her mumma's eye (-: She'll happily have a sniff and lick with my GSD Sophie, she's a curious little munchkin! She's a really happy little dog, you can just tell. For example at training so many dogs are straining like moron's trying to play with other dogs or getting frustrated at waiting (like mine - LOL) but Daisy is happy go lucky, I held onto her for 5mins while Huski went up to pay and again she was happy enough, wagging tail and smelling all the nummy smells. I just don't want anyone insinuating that Huski is somewhat depriving her dogs for not having them down at a park regularly because from what i've seen of Daisy as an example she's such a happy little doggie and a real credit to Huski.
  3. x2 please? Will pay for it and postage too. That is awesomeness! Problem is they didn't have many left at the store I went to - i'll have a look tonight and if they have any then i'll get them and PM you about if you want them or not - if you change your mind i'll hang onto them, i'm sure there will be other doggy freinds in the future who can use them (-: They had a few of the tan coloured ones and gray ones, slightly different styles though although still had a couple of good sized zippered pockets and a drink bottle holder. This is the pic from the website of what they had. Will get my hands on a few if i can.
  4. She's a trooper - lol. She's in there daily - this isn't a once off. From the chair she can see into our bedroom, into the lounge room, and keep an eye on the front fence to guard the place. She's so happy there! lol. I feel like I should put a blankie on it to make it comfier but she'd just eat the blankie!
  5. Excuse bad photography and the fact that I took these through a grubby window - My girl make me laugh. I moved one of the trampoline beds into the 3x3 garden shed that is Sophie's house (spoiled much?) and she obviously didn't want to sleep where she couldn't keep an eye on Vader and peer in our windows and her leisure. So here's her Comfy (?!?!) solution....... I'z gunna make this work.......... What ?!?! If u haz a betta solushun i'd like to hearz it.
  6. Check this out! $6.99 at Aldi as part of their camping promotion. 2 pockets good size for poopy-bags, mobile phones, keys etc, 2 more big enough to cram with treats or easily fit a tennis ball or 2, and a drink bottle holder. Intended for hiking I guess but PERFECT dog walking bag, or even training bag cause fits so many treats. And the waist band goes to "big fatty" size like me, lol. Check it out. I figure you can't go wrong for $6.99 and it's really cute! They had lots of different designs and styles - I just really liked this one. Take that Aldi-nay-sayers, Edited as price is $6.99 not $5.99 - whoops. Still - pretty good value, haha
  7. Nawwwww, give lottie some kisses from Sophie!
  8. I got a large one for $18 on ebay with free postage - in the shops the same one is around the $80-$90 mark - crazy. Go ebay all the way
  9. Me - Conveyancing Paralegal OH - Soon to be Qld Police Civi-role Sophie would be alot of things - German Supermodel cause of her looks, policewoman because of her patrolling the yard and looking out for us, not to mention taking down intruders, and a counsellor because of how she helps out our foster boy and is so gentle. And a clown because of when she gets over excited at the dog park and becomes a moron. Vader would be a dole bludger and spend his days in a hammock drinking beers out of coconuts.
  10. So So good if you have a dog with an undercoat. It does wonders on my GSD - so soft and shiny afterwards. And i've even used it successfully on a Greyhound! lol. He loved it!
  11. My girl just loves to play, sniff, and be a dog. We've started obediance and i'm working on her focus, but I think she should have her focused working times, and her free be-an-idiot and do zoomies with other dogs times, i'm happy when she's having a ball playing with other dogs. Also she had not been well socialised when we got her and was fearful and agro, so i'm pleased with how far she's come, and keen to maintain her sense of balance with other dogs.
  12. I think Sophie is chasing rabbits or tennis balls (-: And telling off baddies - this i deduce from her sleep-running with paws in the air with little snuffles and snorts. I remember not long after we were married my husband was making weird little noises and shuffling round in his sleep and in the morning i said to him jokingly "were you having fun dreams about chasing balls" and her looked at me deadpan and asked how i knew that was what he was dreaming about! Apparently in his dream he'd made it into the Richmond Tigers and the team was depending on him to win the Grand Final! Lol. I don't know what's funnier, the idea of my hubby having puppy-like dreams, or the delusion of the Richmond Tigers making it to a Grand Final -lol
  13. I get the same thing with my GSD - luckily she's pretty bomb proof but it's not like they know that.
  14. Disgusting - pups could be traumatised! Not everyone is suitable for a pup, let alone to foster a confused young dog - I know pet shops are low but you think they'd at least have some duty of care to the animals to know they were safe - i'm pretty sure they're not doing background and yard checks! Mongrels. If they were staying with a carer for the weekend that'd be one thing but individual puppies being rented out? Terrible.
  15. Sophie thinks the kitties litter box is a buffet. Of course we discovered this when we had friends over. I saw she has something in her mouth - put my hand under her mouth and asked her to "give" and she did - spat out an entire cat crap. Oh man it stank - somehow shed kept it in its shape so all our guests knew what it was! People started screaming when she grabbed it again and ran up to show them how lucky she was that the kitties laid her nummy cat-eggs. BLURGH. She promptly got booted outside. Disgusting dog.
  16. Must add, even though I never considered a Border Collie - my freind is a registered breeder and has had the first litter of BC's, 4 black and white and 2 blue merle girls. They're 7wks and heart melting! I wanna puppy!!!!!!! Gorgeous parents and they've had a great family home start to life, I would take one in a heartbeat if I thought i had a patience for a puppy just now! hehe.
  17. I'm so undecided. I think fate will have it's way - we were planning on buying from a registered breeder when Sophie fell out of the Sky and into our lives, hehe - life just figures this stuff out. If I was to have to make a decision right now, we'd purhase another GSD from Sophie's breeder because she is just amazing. Although if a purebred long-haired GSD ends up in the shelter i volunteer at, that could all go out the window and he/she may well come home with me. Not that that's altogether likely. Or lets aim for the sky here - if a Leonberger end up in the shelter, again - all mine. hehe.
  18. Wow - what a stunner! Yep - i'm a big dog girl. Sophie is enough for me at the moment and I foster dogs for a local shelter, but eventually when we add a 2nd dog i'm undecided - toss up between leonberger, mal, or another GSD. I think a Saint is too much drool for me to handle and for some reason hubby has said "no way" to a great dane. Reason being I think that we just cant afford a big enough bed for them to sleep on with us.
  19. I got dragged to a Tupperware Pary on the weekend and bought those "Flex'n'Go" bowls - i think they'll be great to just pop out when i need them. Also bought her little tubs to keep traning treats fresh. Sigh. I spent $68 on tupperware for my dog! I usually dont take water on our walks, but if it's really hot out or we're going to be out for more than an hour i take a small bowl and a bottle of water. I figured the pop-out tupperware bowls will be great when we start trialling obediance and hopefully then agility because they pop out to a pretty decent size and can then fold away.
  20. Yep times millions * Uncle Albers Dog Food (which is great and the dogs love it!) * Houndbag * Kongs * Huga's Collars (cutest collars ever) * I-Squeaks (also patiently waiting) And probably so much more I cant think of now. Everything from freezing doggy iceblocks to where to buy a greyhound muzzle!
  21. Ah - ok. Fair enough. yeah - my GSD is a handful but eager to please - i think i would be a walking talking pile of frustration if I was butting heads with a really stubborn dog. But they're so pretty! lol.
  22. Yeah not bad - they just said "oh - we didnt think it was a big deal" to which I said, well it is for us, we feel like it invades our privacy and we're concerned that our dogs will hurt you" and they agreed to knock on the door next time. I did say "well theres the park accross the road, then you wont lose your balls over anyones fence" and they said they'd never thought of that. Idiots. I hope it doesnt happen again, but i've given them 3 verbal warnings now so once more and i'm calling in the cops.
  23. Cool! We need to see photos!
  24. If I were you i'd PM DOL member Huga and see if she could make something suitable? She might not be able to get her hands on anything tartan but we've just gotten a couple of collars from her in the last week and they're great! Nice and soft for woofers neck but strong enough to cope with a boisterous GSD and washable - they're great.
