  1. Lol - nope, I was off to her right! She was staring at her Daddy who was holding her little brother Chase! But also in that vicinity was her hunk-o-love Danny, so she may have been attempting bedroom eyes - he is photo #2, the stunning Saint.
  2. My beautiful baby girl! Yay! Thank you thank you thank you. A shame the Chase one didn't turn out - haha - that eye is quite the cute! lol. ETA definately going to have to schedule some family photo's sometime soon for us and the furkids!
  3. have to say Chase is the cutest BC with his blue eye and i think raz and Sophie got on quite well Haha - I think he's the cutest too but i'm a bit biased. It's a shame the blue eye is a major fault that means we can't show cause as rocco said last night "really? but it's so cute!" lol. I think it makes him look cheeky! Sophie and Raz are BFF"s - lol. There's some dogs she just decides are her bestest freinds - Chase's mum Swazi is one, Nala, Lottie, Raz and Danny are her besties too - haha. I can tell as she just gets soooo excited with little whines and big tail wag's when she sees them. And I think she has a special place in her heart for Coconut now too - haha. What can I say - she's a hussy. She was DA and never socialised when we got her 6 months ago so I couldn't be happier with how she is now in comparison.
  4. We had a great day! Apart from Chase's projectile poop on the concrete - how embarrassing! Husband is still getting grief about not taking the puppy for a toilet break when he was told to! Lol. And Sophie was pretty good, apart from the fact that she goes nutso when she's near Harry! lol. Was a great day though - will be very excitiing to see the pics! I hope Chase really turned on the cute
  5. I hope everyone has gone crazy pageant mother on their dogs too. Lol. Just as well i did - here's the undercoat that i stripped out of Sophie with the furminator this morning Haha - i could knit a new dog with all of that. Everyones dogs are going to shun mine because they smell funny! Chase smells like baby powder, and Sophie smells like coconut! All the better for cuddling!
  6. Oh - so tempting to get some of that bounce out of Sophie but I'll have Chase with me too so don't want to expose him to too many unruly woofers. DOL dogs only - haha
  7. Lol - I can't wait to upgrade to a bigger car - at the moment the furkids are in the back of my Nissan Tiida or Hubby's Commodore Sedan- they fit nicely, but when skin-kids come along we'll need to get a wagon or 4WD with room in the back as the furkids go everywhere with us.
  8. I'd like to 2nd that - Sophie is great with other woofers but I hate people just barging up to me and letting the dogs sniff butts without asking. Just ask first if they can say hi, 9 times out of 10 it's cool, but occasionally I can just tell from their energy that some dogs are going to flick Sophie's crazy switch and make her a jumping drooling loon who's going to play no matter what's in her way - lol.
  9. I'd be asking for a copy of the footage and then taking it to the police and showing them the morons proof that they trespassed on your property. They can be prosecuted - maybe holding that over their heads will shut them up?
  10. Yeah - a check chain would be my preference too if that's cool -it nestles in under that double coat of Sophies and you wouldn't know it was there. Problem solvered.
  11. Hmm, i dont have a black collar but you barely see her brown one under the double coat - lol. I'll see what i can do though
  12. My stories are probably pretty well known by now, but i'll share anyway! Prepare for a mammoth read if you're game. I've wanted a German Sheperd since....... always, having grown up with them and loving them so much. Hubby and I saved for two years and waited for a house we could afford with a big enough yard for a GSD! After buying the house and spending thousands getting it fully fenced and dog freindly we'd just started looking at breeders websites etc. On one of my "click around the shelter sites" afternoons looking on the off chance there was a purebred GSD destined to be ours I saw a 1 line advertisement "Free to Good Home, German Sheperd Female, 18 months, Desexed, call .......................) - so not really descriptive, but for some strange reason I just felt compelled to call and talk to these people and find out more. After lots of deliberation I made the call and ended up on the phone with a woman who clearly was out of her depth with this dog - she explained that Page was a purebred dog with papers and everything (though she couldn't tell me who the breeder was) and that she was out of control digging, chewing and jumping on people, and hadn't been out of the yard, and wanted to attack any other dog she saw walking by, and was really a bit vicious. Hmm. For some reason I still asked if I could meet this terror dog, and jumped in the car after work to drive to check her out. I was met at the front gate by two snarling GSD's and waited for the woman's husband to come and let me in - all the while thinking "I could just get back in the car and go now", but i stuck it out. It took me a few minutes to realise that Page was frightened of me and so so skinny, and just trying to keep me away - I waited till she'd settled a bit, walked over slowly, and then let her get up and sniff me all over. I stretched out my hand timidly, and she walked up, looked up at me, and rested her chin in my hand. She wasn't snarling Page - she was Sophie, and she was my Sophie. I had nothing for a dog at home, and it was dark out and I didnt want to scare her so agreed with the releived couple that i'd love to take her and would pick her up Friday afternoon so she could have the whole weekend to settle with me at home. When I showed up at the gate on Friday afternoon, there was a waggly tailed sook waiting to jump all over me and lick me the second i walked through the gate. I put her pink collar on (her first ever collar!!!!) - slipped a chain around her neck, snapped on a pink lead and within 5minutes she was walking on lead. I gave her old owners a hug, a bottle of wine, a bunch of flowers, and their other dog a big rawhide bone, and vowed to keep in touch, which i have. Sophie sat on my lap the whole way home licking me - lol. It was the next morning when I raised my hand to my sunglasses and the flinched that i realised she'd been hit. It broke my heart - she was just misunderstood. With patience and the help of a freind Sophie is now lever 2 in obediance class (YAY SOPHIE!!!) and very freindly with other dogs although often a bit too boisterous with her play, and she turns her nose up at the cats. Sophie has never looked back, she's put on a much needed 10kg and is now a happy healthy girl. Chase was a whole other story - the good freind who helped me with Sophie's training and socialisation is a registered Border Collie breeder - from the text message "YAY confirmed she's pregnant!" to when they were 8wks old and she started looking for homes I was following the litter closely and playing with the puppies weekly and helping with their early socialisation (that vicious GSD I wrote about earlier was a test dummy, lol) i'd never considered getting a puppy, I was a GSD girl and that was that, though my husband said he wanted a BC next and commented that it was a coincidence that the first Wonelook litter came on his birthday. Anyway - I got a message out of the blue from my freind "are you sure you don't want a puppy? Chase would be a perfect herding, agility and obediance dog, and i'd love to use him for stud in the future - will you come see him?" which was so unexpected - hubby and i went down that night and as soon as she put Chase in hubby's arms, Chase had his Daddy. He came home that weekend for the long easter weekend and settled in immediately -he and Sophie love each other, but they both play rough, and she's 40kg so he spends most of his time inside unless supervised outside - when he's big enough to escape his area over the couch, he's big enough to go out with Sophie. Our babies go everywhere with us, they're mummies girl and daddies boy, last night we had a music practice at our church and I was mixing sound in the tech desk with a border collie snoozing draped over my shoulders, and Paul was playing bass on stage with an impressed Sophie sitting on a church pew watching him from the front row! We're the crazy dog people now to all our freinds, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
  13. I thought I was the only one with a CCC (crazy cockroach cat) - Zara is apparently a Turkish Van X - she loves getting in a full sink or tub of water, has a funny little bark she does to the other animals, and has the big bushy tail. She also sleeps like a local whore after a night on the town. It's shameless.
  14. What do you get when you have a Shiba Inu in your room on a -5degree morning in Dunedin in New Zealand? A fight for the blankets and prime position infront of the heater. This is Sookie - my aunt and uncles dog. After staying with them my husband was desperate for a Shiba - i said no way in hell, she's lovely, but MY GOD THE SCREAMING!
  15. Is that the "SNAP SNAP SNAP" in the air when they're excited to see you? It was quite frightening when he ran up to me doing that when i knew nothing about Grey's! lol. Oh - i'll never forget our neighbour i heard over the fence saying "they've got a friggin giant whippet over there and it's vicious!!!" lol
  16. I'm sneaking in quietly to share my excitement at having bought a clicker and learning how to use it....... now backing quietly out - continue training-capable persons!
  17. Yep - Vader NEVER smelt. He loved his bath's though which is why he got them, and he insisted on being furminated when Sophie got brushed even though he didn't have much coat to brush - hahaha. My favourite discovery about Greyhounds was the "eargasm" that they have when you stick a finger in their ear and twist - the shudderding shaking loud low groaning from Vader was quite X-rated!!!!
  18. LOL - I have had people ask me if i've shaved Sophie! Because she's not fluffy enough to be a German Sheperd? Or asked me what she's crossed with to not be blacker. Sigh. SHES A PEDIGREE GERMAN SHEPERD! And no, Chase's blue eye does not make him a Husky. Lol.
  19. If you're prepared to brush and groom, want a snuggly clingy dog and a smart dog who responds well to training, and are active, i'd think you can't go past a Border Collie, and I think they fit in your size requirements too.
  20. I don't know whether i'm more excited about Rocco photo's or meeting all these DOLers and their woofers! It's all just so excitement!
  21. haha - yes we have! Although technically at 13weeks Chase isn't really a whole Border Collie yet, hehe. He does have the very cute blue eye though!
  22. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH We are INFESTED! The carpet throughout the house has retained the yucky fleas even after a flea bomb! We set it off, was all good for a few days, then BAM today they're in the carpet in all the rooms again despite dailg vacuuming! Can anyone tell me if you can just hire a pest controller to come out and douse the house so the whole place is flea free? I can't stand it - the cats seem fine with thier advantage but poor puppy is still a bit itchy and hubby and i are getting bitten. This is awful! I'm just at the point where i'm happy to pay a pro to come and get rid of them, only problem being today is Friday and I wont have the $$$ to have it done till pay goes in Wednesday morning! ARGH!
  23. OK, Bella may me the prettiest dog ever other than my own - just saying.
