  1. I don't mean offence or anything, just saying I can see why Jed might have just wanted to check that you didn't have those kind of intentions - it's nothing personal. We're all dog lovers and probably all cautious about peoples intentions - wasn't accusing you. It's great that you're curious - the better equipped you are, the better owner you'll be!
  2. no i just like to have all my facts about everything and all the info i can get It's just that some of the questions could lead people to think that, like How Young can a dog be used for breeding, how much are vacc's, with/without papers, failed matings etc. Kudos to you if you're just interested - definately check out the search function, there are so many great threads in here i've found by having a hunt around using search.
  3. Keep in mind that there are plenty of Pure Bred dogs available for rehoming - if she'd prefer to rescue a dog rather than purchase from a Breeder then that's fine, some would prefer to give an abandoned dog a 2nd chance which is a great thing, but there are plenty of dogs, purebred and X looking for loving homes. I've noticed there always seem to be SBT in the non-Euthanasia shelter I volunteer for - maybe help her get online at your place and have a look at the dogs available in shelters in your state. Also i'd encourage her not to dismiss an older dog rather than a puppy, yes puppies are cute but one thing about rescuing an older dog is that you can see their personality and temperment, I got my Soph when she was already 18months, and it means I didn't have to deal with her barking all night, seperation anxiety, house training, and the puppy "chew on everything that moves" stage. I love my dog, and personally at this stage I prefer to have purebred dogs, but each to their own. The important thing to remember is that your freind needs to consider what type of dog and temperment she's looking for, and then commit to providing it with unconditional love for the next decade and beyond.
  4. It'd be fun hey - Sat mornings i'm a volunteer hydrobathing dogs at Peninsula Animal Aid 8-12 - everyone come along, pay $5 for a great bath for your dog with all proceeds going to the shelter, and say hi! I'm normally on dog drying duty! Sunday's i'm free in the afternoons, and weeknights i'm wide open. Except this Thursday. Lol. Someone else make a suggestion I suggested Kroll Gardens because everyone knows where it is, and there's plenty of space for exuberant nut-job out of control dogs (like mine) to not crowd the normal ones! But i'm easy - have dog - will travel.
  5. Yeah I emailed off 2wks ago and haven't had a reply either - we'll definately be there though. Although i'm becoming more and more nervous about my brat of a GSD creating a scene - lol. It'd be great to get together with all the other Metro dogs and their people before we all start, that way we'd know some familiar faces and let our woofers mingle and make freinds before they're expected to behave - anyone interested? I was thinking saturday afternoon at Kroll Gardens?
  6. I agree these people are jerks but please keep in mind not all Christians are brainless morons.
  7. Seriously? I actually find this hard to believe, i'm a big churchie type too but i'm abhorred by this. No wonder people think churches are money-chasers! I know mine isn't, I mean we raise funds for various things, like the youth group kids got sponsored to sleep rough for a night in the church carpark for all funds to go straight to a homeless shelter, and we had a big garage sale to raise funds to buy medical equipment for Sri Lankan hospitals etc, but it's not like we're looking to turn a profit! Not for a second would my church leaders consider allowing people to breed mongrel dogs for profit - that's disgusting and completely unethical. The bible says that humans were given dominian over animals, which to me says were given the responsibilty to care for them, not exploit them - grrrr. Makes me furious. Maybe my church is just the exception - we have a Border Collie that's a regular attender - noone bats an eyelid when she wanders up to the pastor for a pat during the service, lol. And we're looking to have a dog service where everyone with freindly dogs can bring their woofers to play. hehe.
  8. Wow - that 2nd one could be my girl but with a blacker saddle - stunning. Then again, i'm biased!
  9. As far as i've heard she's still got her legs crossed - my theory is she's figured out how they come out and decided she's not going to let it happen
  10. Lol - Hard not to ask! Currently I have Sophie, as a kid i have had Coco, Cilla and Sara.
  11. May I just say I am so excited to meet this epitome-of-evil that is your Daisy. From the way you talk im expecting her to be in a Darth Vader mask - lol. She's nothing exciting! This weekend alone she stole an entire packet of tortillas and ate them all in about ten seconds and then on Sunday, got into a box of home made coffee and white chocolate biscuits and ate the last six that were in there - and this is supposed to be my obedience dog Hehe - at least that's food. Don't make me repeat the saga of Sophie vs the $120 silk skirt. I'm still seething about it. Couldn't even look at the brat this morning - made hubby go pay her attention so i could wait till i'm "calm and assertive" to walk her tonight, lol. Although by Walk i mean "Hobble" due to twisting ankle chasing her when she took off and ran away down the beach on saturday, and then an hour later tangled me in her lead and tripped me A over T. Grr.

  13. I did go to Metro on their fun and games night to have a look - i'm freinds with one of the instructors - Sam? And her darling Swaz! Sophie was ok for about 40mins but after a kelpie dressed as a fairy had a go at her she started freaking out anytime another dog came near her *sigh* she'll be the death of me. And I think I remember someone pointed out "the cutest puppy ever" called Myf! Her fame proceeds her!
  14. Haha - she's a clever girl! Sophie was warm this morning obviously, and silly mummy left washing on the line overnight which subsequenlty got rained on - so sophie made herself a nice little cool spot this morning by ripping a pure silk wraparound skirt off the line and tearing it up and shoving it in a nice little hole in a patch of shade to have a snooze on. Grr! She had to choose the most expensive thing off the line. :D
  15. Did you meet Sophie, the GSD? She's a pretty girl, cute as can be, When mum was mad when she dug the lawn to dirt, She got her own back and ate mum's silk skirt! Another true story. :D
  16. I'll be there too. Look for the barking crazed GSD attempting to play with anything with a pulse - I will be the angry looking chubby girl on the end of the lead (-:
  17. Where's the one you go to? We go to Kroll Gardens at Redcliffe which has the small dog park - it's a great idea, Sophie likes to play with the little ones but I completely understand some of the small dogs not wanting massive big boofers like mine rushing over and wanting to play chase!
  18. Wow, how out of line is she? I don't have a breed that requires clipping but I would think that you would know your dog better than some random in a pet store, and be able to tell if she's more comfortable when clipped.
  19. Hehe - I catch it whenever I can - he's great.
  20. Maybe she's just scared of the owner Just jokes huski
  21. 1 GSD, and 600m2. She's usually outside, only in with us at night - she has all her creature comforts outside though, she loves her yard and her dog house (house not kennel, she has a 3mx3m shed full of toys and a trampoline bed) and a carport with another bed etc.
  22. Oh man - can you imagine being the neighbours of someone who left 2 puppie alone? Let the chorus begin.......
  23. Oh wish i'd seen that! Although they dont have the colour i wanted and i'd rather pay $7 more for mine and have the right colour - Black with the pink logo - to match my girl's pink collar, lead and pink diamonte nametag, lol.
  24. Haha - Mine isnt into balls if there's something more interesting around! In our backyard the ball is king, until its a chewed up mess, but at the dog park she couldn't care less when there are yummy butts to sniff, smells to smell and dogs to chase!
