Thank you so much everyone for your responses. Great to know that some of you haven't experienced the . Hopefully little Humphrey will be like that too. I will be taking so many photos, I'm so excited it's ridiculous

So my little Golden Retriever puppy Humphrey arrives on Saturday and I'm just getting in early to be prepared for some at night. I have a crate all ready for him with his new bed with a 'bunnings' compost fence around it and was going to pop him beside my bed at night. Any techniques to help with the crying at night? I like to be prepared Thanks so much!!!

Willow - some really interesting questions and some great responses. My little boy is arriving in exactly a week and I haven't 'met' him yet, he is flying up from Sydney. The breeder provided wonderful information and photographs during the past 7 weeks (since birth) and I provided her with what I was looking for in regards to personality. So essentially my breeder sent images to me and I just happened to pick one from the photos and she said he would be perfect for me - so it seemed rather easy

I'm so glad you are going to stay with a friend, that will help having that support There is no need to 'toughen up' when you lose someone or a pet, you just have to work through the emotions and let yourself grieve because that is what you are experiencing - grief. It truly is like losing a family member when you lose a truly beautiful pet and it feels like you can't imagine life without them, I know this feeling so well. It's so ok for you to cry and to feel those emotions. I too have felt that 'guilt' of the thought of replacing my angel with fur and cried a lot over this. However, I know I could never ever replace him, he was so special and so unique and there will never be another one like him. This doesn't mean that I can't love another puppy and my new little boy is arriving with me in just over a week (excitement overload ). When the time is right for you I'm sure you will open your heart again to a new special dog. Just sending you lots of healing wishes and also hoping that perhaps your little girl might still be found.

Yes definitely. I searched the internet for weeks researching and looking at breeder's sites, getting a feel for their dogs and puppies and determining which breeder I felt was right for me. I found a fabulous breeder (she referred me here to DOL ) and my little boy is arriving on the 23rd of this month. I'm so excited What did we do without the internet???

Having recently lost my 12 year old dog to Cancer last year, I know the pain and sadness that comes with not having your best friend there. It is very hard and very sad with what feels like endless tears. I can only reiterate what others have written and suggest that you need to see your GP as soon as possible to discuss your feelings. You definitely need some professional help and guidance through this difficult time.

Is there a certain age a puppy/dog should be before they have a hydrobath? Thanks

I know I could never rehome my dog/s but that's just me. One of my dearest friends has adopted two olders dogs over the past few years a 10 year old Old English Sheep Dog who was with her for about 4 years and just recently a 9 year old little bit of this and little bit of that - she's great and both dogs were/are super happy. So it can be done. I wish you all the luck and the best for your dogs

Wow the things you learn on DOL - I've never heard of glue for poochie ears, off to google

I'm looking into this at the moment too. So far I'm leaning toward Pet Insurance Australia particularly for those super expensive unexpected things. I've been caught out before to the tune of over $10,000 and don't want that to happen again

Whats The Most 'out There' Thing You Have Done
BooBooBear replied to lilypily's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'm so glad that there are other people out there like me that would go to the ends of the earth fo their dogs I've done the mega-thousands of dollars (over $10,000) at the vet still crying over this one! I've air conditioned our garage should our poochies require it when we are out :D . I had a friend's mother who had a Rolls Royce because her little dog could get into it easier Oh and Peter Alexander (Mr Pyjama) put a lift in his apartment for his dog Penny because she had short legs -

Hi AgilityDogs - thanks so much for your response. Really appreciate it. Is there anyone else you recommend I have a look at around that area?

Hi everyone My little bundle of love arrives with me in 2 weeks and I have been investigating various puppy schools. I just wondered if anyone had experience or had any reports on Urban Dog Training at Carina? Thanks so much.

Yes what about a Cocker Spaniel? Lhasa Apso? not sure about the shedding, I just know that the man who cleans our carpets (he visits alot ) swears they are the best dog he has ever had.

My brother has a Hilux and he has two massive dogs - Bull Arabs - gorgeous funny things they are! He has a metal crate with a roof that can be lifted in and lifted out of the back, it's big enough for the two of them and he has put carpet down on the bottom, it's quite luxurious hehehe. They love it and as soon as we open the gate to go out they go running and flying in to it. Because the crate can be removed, he uses it as a crate when we are at work (we work for ourselves and have a warehouse) if they need to be enclosed. Hope this helps
