  1. to the gorgeous Charche!! Beautiful photos, as always - love his big smilie face :D
  2. I was going to say Aussie Shepherd as well - would sound like a great fit, although I'm biased :D Very trainable, Lottie loves to chase rabbits (although she's never caught any!), and she doesn't need a whole lot of grooming either!
  3. it was another fun and crazy day/night!! It was at a new location as well this time, which was good!! Right on a river on a property!
  4. Great pics everyone!! Going to go and play around tomorrow with some panning I think!! But here's some for now....
  5. I use anything really - but super smelly, easy to eat food is the best! My usual training treats would be: Cheese BBQ chicken, or any other meat Cherrios (the little red sausages) Chunkers or 4 legs Dog meat roll Sometimes kibble if I don't have much else As someone else said - cut into little pieces!! You will learn what your dog really loves as you try different treats
  6. I never really crate trained Lottie as a puppy, although she had been tied up etc from a young age (always when I was there - such as camping trips - I didn't really know about crate training) so she took to a crate really really easily when I introduced it!!! She'll go in there when I ask, and if there's one set up, she'll sometimes pop herself in there. She'll also stay in there for however long, and i'll never hear a peep out of her, she just hops in and goes to sleep. I don't usually have one set up at home, as it's a share house and she's in my room most the time - the crate wouldn't really fit in here , and she can sleep where ever in my room - but since it's getting cold she's been sleeping on my bed - and this from a person who 'would NEVER have a dog inside, let alone on a bed ' I've been very luckily with Lot, she's a very chilled out dog!
  7. Aw thank you!! I was so upset when I saw the grainyness of it (which was when I really sat down and figured out why it was happening!!).

  10. Gah, i'm soo behind on posting!! Maybe i'll get around to getting them done today :D Lovely, lovely pics everyone!!!
  11. I know what you're feeling - I remember the first day I got Lottie home, it was amazing - I had all my friends around and we were playing etc - then everyone left, and I was at home, all alone with this little puppy... Well - it was just ALL too overwhelming for me, I really did freak out a bit (as a couple friends and my sister can justify). I felt like i'd made the biggest mistake ever, I cried pretty much the whole first day... didn't know what I had gotten myself into (I had just finished 2 weeks of exams, then being away for a week, so I think I was exhausted as well), went over to my sisters, with this tiny little fluff ball in my arms, balling my eyes out!!!!!! Well, after a couple days, her personality really started to come out (and she turned out to be a VERY VERY good puppy - I think that was something that was freaking me out, the amount of crying that could happen - well none did!!). I was still feeling like 'what have I done!!' for about a week, then all of a sudden, it went away as Lottie was already really bonded to me, and after that, the rest is history!! She's my heart dog and I couldn't imagine not having her (to the point I get teary when I think of something happening to her ). But saying all that, it only lasted around a week, maybe a bit less, then we have been inseperable since then! But that first week was very very hard!! to you!!
  12. I can't really think of another breed i'd like other then the Aussie Shepherd - they just seem to fit so well with my lifestyle!! And I can't wait to add another Aussie to my family!! (although, these lappies have really caught my eye - I fully blame everyone on here for that ). Although, I'd really love a little dog - and I really like the paps!! So they're on my maybe one day list!!
  13. Although i'm VERY VERY new to trialing, I so far don't train at least the day before, and usually take her for a swim or something nice and relaxing. The less I do before hand, the more driven she is to work! I like to do a few sessions a week (of about 5mins a session, not a whole lot), and I don't ever do ring runouts (as I don't have anyone to call for me etc). The first trial I entered, I hadn't done a runout so wasn't sure what to expect, but she was very good considering!! Athough, at the moment I'm doing more agility training then obedience It's interesting to read how others train
  14. Great vids, Huski!! How nice is it putting them straight up on here!! I think I might try and video tomorrows session!!
  15. Eeee i've forgotten to post in here!! I'll hopefully have my missing few up soon!!! LOVING all these photos
  16. Well I just gave it a try - wow!! Lottie picked it up SUPER SUPER quickly!! Something I might keep working with!! Her heel position improved already after just one session (I had done a small session a few weeks back of just clicking and treating - so she remembered it very quick!!).
  17. Wow, sounds like everyones going great guns at the moment!!!! Goodluck at your next trial, Nik OOS - love the videos!!! What lovely lovely work!! Sorry to hear about the idiots at the park, beddazled!!! It really gets to me as well, and living in a small town it happens all too often :mad I just don't walk Lottie around the town, and usually drive her to the field (which is literally a 2min walk past my house) because of the loose dogs that I would encounter if we walked - it's sooooo annoying! I'm no help with the dumbbell - wuffles. Lottie LOVES getting the dumbbell, and I haven't had any problems with her yet (touch wood!). I was just wondering - do most people here clicker train?? It's something I haven't done yet, but thinking it might help with precision type work?? And maybe help with some duration?? Any tips would be great :D
  18. Lovely pics everyone!! I'm behind with editing... again!! but I blame 2 exams and a wine and cheese event that I was an organiser of that's held me back Hopefully i'll have them up soon!!!! Congrats on the new job, Huga, and your anniversary!! :D
  19. I'm also in my 4th year of Vet science and study at UQ, and I was actually one of the anaesthetists for Flick_macs surgery - I really think these type of opportunities are invaluable for all the above reasons that Flicks mentioned!! I also wanted to state again, that we've never had a 'colony' of dogs at UQ! And euthanising anything isn't a nice thing - but these animals are sedated, then anaethetised and don't recover - throughout the whole procedure they don't feel anything, and there are many tutors to help with both the surgery and the anaesthetic side of things. This topic makes me upset, as it makes us out as heartless beings - but we're not the ones who are dumping unwanted dogs at the pounds who are due to be PTS anyway! Animals are treated with the absolute respect at our uni, either cadavars or alive.
  20. 1 already where did that year go?? A BIG to the gorgeous Alera!! She has turned into a stunning girl!!

  22. I blame you and your amazing dogs for wanting to give flyball a go - your videos of it looked sooo much fun and I had to try it out!!!
  23. Love them Huga!! I've just bought a polaroid camera off ebay last week after my friend had one at a party - I can't wait till it gets here!!!
