  1. My aunties Aussie Terrier just passed away beginning of the year, and he was over 20 - what a grand old man he was, and of all things, a paralysis tick took him My parents little dog - chi x, is 16 this year, and apart from being blind, she's really quite healthy!! I really have a soft spot for the oldies
  2. I did see those on ebay and wondered if that was what the person I was talking to today meant and I also wondered about the gap difference? I too would be interested in hearing if people noticed anything from switching between different spacings??? I posted above, but I didn't notice much from switching between poles - if anything, Lottie was able to go faster and smoother with the whole set, but that might be because they're more solid as well.
  3. I used the plastic ones from topbuy to teach Lottie her 2x2s as the come undone at the bottom, and really work well!! And she also had no trouble at all with the change of gaps - it's probably easier for her due to them being a little bigger! This was her 2nd time through a set of 12!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7nQOhutkyI http://www.topbuy.co...-Dog-p31603.htm They're on special at the moment as well. They do move a bit, and obviously not as good as a metal base, but I found them ALOT better then using posts. I would lend you mine, Seita, but I just leant them to a friend!! I will see how long she needs them, but you're more then welcome to borrow them after her
  4. I take Lottie to Rowan for chiro treatments - he's wonderful and has helped us soooo much!!! I was also pointed towards him from other DOLers He's a long way from you though!!
  5. I was absolutely set on getting a border collie, to the point of having started contacting breeders. Then my friend (Flick_mac) got a red-tri Australian Shepherd, and I hadn't heard of aussies before (and to my eyes then, they seemed similar to the BC), so I got online and googled them - and the first thing that popped up was a pic of a blue merle aussie - well I was taken!! I started researching aussies, and they just sounded like they would fit me perfectly - and they seemed a little bigger/chunkier then the BC, which was another thing that appealed to me. So then the new search started. I contacted a few breeders and got sent pics of Lottie as a baby - and I knew from those 2 pics she was mine - the rest is history! Now i'm a little too obsessed with aussies and am already researching the next breeder for my next puppy - that'll be a couple years away yet. They fit with my lifestyle absolutely perfectly, and I can't think of another breed I want to own :D
  6. Loving all the photos!!! I'm kind of feeling the same, TLC - I've just started back at uni and  this semester is FULL ON!! Most days are 8-5 or 6, and by the time I get home and do something with lot, I'm just not going to have the time!! I will keep taking photos a day, but I doubt i'm going to get around to editing and putting them up on here i've failed - damn!! Ah well - I did nearly 6 mths, maybe I can do the whole year next year!!
  7. I would love a red merle for my next Aussie puppy, but it definitely isn't the only thing I will look for - I will be wanting a show quality puppy (with hopefully a bit of drive!!), and if that's another colour, well then that will be the puppy I take home I still have to decide on a breeder first, that's the hardest part for me!!
  8. I take too much stuff I take a gazebo and all the stuff with it, a picnic rug thing for the ground, a cover for lots crate, treats, chair and lots more stuff that I probably don't need The one thing I always forget to take is a water bowl, but now i've decided to have a permanent one in the car so I don't forget!! Hope Kenz gets better soon, Ness!
  9. Thanks heaps for the vid, Ptolomy :D that helped heaps - I will work on a few things :D
  10. Yeah, that's true Lotties just gone through a massive shed, so hopefully no more for a little while
  11. I got very lucky with Lottie - I don't brush her every week, and she doesn't knot up, but again, they're all different!! She has such a nice, easy to maintain coat!! But yes, in comparison to a short coated dog they are more work
  12. it was so cold here this arv, after I finished prac I came home, got the fire going and got in my pjs Thanks so much for the tips :D I haven't done the backchaining with her, so will work on that!! Ahhhh - that makes sense about the pick-ups!! They're a bit messy as she is always sooo excited to pick it up!! So that's something we'll work on as well :D
  13. I'm another who suggests Aussies - but i'm totally obsessed now and can't wait to add another to my little family!! Lottie is not the highest drive aussie around by far, but she's awesome for me, and we're having a lot of fun, and lately, she's really started to work nicely and is showing a lot more drive and enthusiasm for training (probably has a lot to do with the way i've been training her lately!!) She's an awesome, easy going dog to have around and to live with, can play ROUGH when she wants to, but also plays to suit the dog she's with (she's also with my parents 16yr old chi x at the moment while i'm at home, and she doesn't bother her a bit!!). Her coat is really easy to look after, and I probably don't groom her as much as I should, but it's a very easy to maintin coat! We've just started competing in agility, and wow, we're having soooo much fun!! I think once we're both more experienced, she's going to be an awesome little agility dog :D We also do a bit of obedience, but we're having a break from that, but at her first trial we got a qualie and a 2nd - now just to keep going We also have had a go at flyball - and she picked it up in only 2 sessions :D And an obedience pic as well, just for good measure :D
  14. Goodluck on Sat, Nik!! :D Sounds like you had a good session, SLLH!! Well, me and Lot have had a break from obedience for a little while, as we were both getting really down about it all (well I was which was reflecting on our training and the way Lot was working!), but I thought i'd do a little this arv, gosh she worked nicely :D I have a little video of it... (excuse me wearing my pjs - and also where Lot steps on them , I didn't realise until I had uploaded it, and can't be bothered doing it again!!! ). A BIG thank you to Ptolomy and LP for all your help with my training!! I really appreciate it, and hopefully one day i'll get back in the obedience ring http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17X4XTrsUR8 Just wondering - whenever Lottie retrieves the DB, she also pulls up and sits too far from me - around a sit length away - you see everytime I go to move backwards she'll come in nice and close - and ideas on how to get her to come in close straight up? Go back and only reward when she comes in to the right spot??
  15. THIS! x 2! X3!!!!! Absolutely what Huski said. X4!!! I wish I did alot more tugging with Lottie as a puppy (and actually knew how to train a dog ), but at least I know a bit more about how I want to train my next one :D I would also do more agility foundation work - as I've just started competing and really training, and I'm getting very very addicted!!! Oh no - me and Shell posted at the same time, haha!! so X5!!!! hahaha!
  16. I love pics of cats and dogs together!! I took this one last night... Lottie hasn't got any other dogs around at the moment, so has to make do with what she can Sorry about the crap quality - taken from my phone.
  17. Brilliant dog!!! Thanks for sharing!!! LOVE his waggy tail!! Awesome That is great!! Thanks for sharing Nik - he is just gorgeous, and can't wait to see what you do with him He'll be a little star like your other 2 :D I haven't been doing a whole lot of obedience training lately We've had a little break - but we had the most beautiful, enthusiastic dumbbell session today :D Was very happy with Lot!!
  18. Ah - i've totally forgot to post my photos in here!! I will just continue from now as to not overload with photos LOVE all the pics!! Week 28 - Lottie is weaving
  19. Loving the pics!! Thought I better at least pop one photo up, hehe!! Just a snap from our agility training today - Lottie is finally weaving so proud of her!! :D 14/07/2011 I'm still organised/editing/finding my pics, i'll probably just put all the ones I haven't posted on flickr and keep going on her from today
  20. I beg to differ, last passes are the hardest for me Me too!!! My first pass was easy - the second, well - there hasn't been one A massive congrats to all the passes One day i'll get the courage to have another go.... maybe after we have a little fun with agility ;)
  21. Lovely pics!!! :D I don't have many B&W, but here are a couple...
  22. Loving all the photos :D I promise i'm still taking photos - but i'm finally getting around to editing them all from during exam time etc!! Hopefully i'll have them up soon (I won't put them all up, just a few as i'm around a month behind from posting on here!!).
  23. Lovely pics!! Here's a couple of mine
  24. Thanks!! It was such a nice feeling!! We've been working on it for quite a while (very half heartedly - uni has been in the way abit), but my awesome friends made me some good quality weave poles!! So I thought i'd get into it and really teach her properly - today she was doing them even better then the day before :D
  25. Thanks :D I know we have lots to work on, but i'm just so proud of her!! And yep, I definitely will peg them in from tomorrow - I noticed that too!! I think it'll help!!
