  1. thanks for the info everyone, i am researching similar size breeds to suit us, so this saved me asking
  2. How did i miss this post ????????????
  3. Well okay he is not a dog but today we said goodbye to our 14.5 year old Birman Hanni  RIP Old Boy
  4. I was shocked when i read this earlier on FB, and i know i said it earlier but hugs RIP Karma
  5. I have hardwood, and they survive ok, but a softwood wont
  6. I am yet to read this whole thread, but i agree with this, you dont know this child had autism, but of course a "naughty child", or one that wasobviously not being supervised properly just has to be autistic gets my back up. My autistic child is never not right next to me when out, even at 9 years old, I would never let him wander off, and although he has his moments,as i avoid triggers well, and people while out and about dont even know his is autistic, he also would not just wander up to a stranger and has been taught to never touch anybodys dog unless they say it is ok, although with his sensory issues he does not like patting dogs anyway, so dont just think every naughty child must have autism, oh and just to add......... i would also get my autistic child and my other children out of a burning house over my dog or both my cats,
  7. I would say a spaniel of some type, which one will depend on the size etc you want, our welsh springer spaniel is great with kids etc, but i think a cavalier would be fantastic, as its smaller but great with kids also, just make sure you go to a registered breeder, not a pet shop etc Breeders and info for each breed can be found here http://www.dogzonlin...breeds/list.asp and no question is to dumb when trying to find out a breed to suit you, most breeders are more than happy to answer questions
  8. What state are you in? I know it says QLD but that is the default state for DOL and sometimes it is not correct, there is a good WSS breeder in QLD you could talk to, even though they dont have puppies atm you might be able to go visit the dogs etc and ask questions
  9. not ours, unless she sees a bird in the yard she does not bark LOL but i think she is a lazy bones,
  10. I am biased obviously, but if you have any specific questions about welshies i am more than happy to help where i can, feel free to pm me if i dont answer as i may not be on DOL to much over the next week, but will be checking my emails, as for kids, we have 3 here (soon to be 4 ) and Teegan is great with them, one is autistc, and Teegan has never been worried about any of his weird noises or things he does, but she has grown up with it, so i think it depends on how you socialize your dog when younger, there are definately welshies i know that are very shy of strangers for a while, but Teegan was out and about when a puppy and does not really have that issue, they will also (or teegan does) follow you everywhere in the house, so if you like to go to the loo or shower in peace dont pick a welshie ;)
  11. I was also thinking Crate training at night,
  12. I bought them off COTD a few weeks back, but they have not made it out of the box yet!!!!

    Toby

Oh Bryan i know i have told you this already on FB but only just saw this thread Thinking of you, HUGE hugs sent your way, RIP Toby
  14. welsh springer, they are very much a velcro dog, not so much a wash and wear but i only brush teegan once a week and it is really only her ears and behind her legs to make sure her feathering does not matt most of the body is very short hair
  15. My first one was a Saint Bernard, people said not to get one first off, but i trained her up and had her with us for 8 wonderful years before she went to the bridge, i think it also depends on the person, not just the breed.
  16. Congrats and welcome to DOL, do you have any photos? I have had 2 Saints in my time and love them so much What is her name etc? There are plenty of Saint people here that i am sure will be able to give you tips etc, in fact there is a thread on Saints, i will see if i can fine it for you. edited to add, here is the thread i was talking about, might be worth a look in there for you http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/155740-simply-saint-bernards/
  17. My Breeder does not get a choice, i still bombard them with Photos and info on Teegan whenever i can, although they always seem happy for the updates maybe for some reason they did not get the email, (like if it had photos attachments might have been blocked) or they just were flat out busy to reply and then forgot to? Have you sent them another email just to see if they reply?
  18. Someone's watching Don for signs of Alzheimer's...right?
  19. I have only just seen this  I'm SOOOOOOO Jealous
  20. I dont know what to say, So sorry for both your losses,
  21. I have a Welsh Springer Spaniel, i love her tail :D her parents and grandparents etc are all docked, she was the first litter from her breeder to keep the tail, i am happy about it, not that at the time it bothered me one way or the other. Now i like it though, just dont tell her that as sometimes when i come home and she is wagging it like a mad Springer she is hitting me and the wall with it. I sometimes tell her to calm down or i will chop it off myself, she has banged it open before hitting the wall with it
  22. i watch the dog shows when they are on, dog whisperer i like dogs 101 but have seen them all now, World uglist dog comp is funny some years, its on again tomorrow on animal planet i really like Animal Precinct NY, although sad to watch somedays i cant help myself i am sure there are others but just can think this early in the morning lol
