I am wanting to put together a leaflet that explains BSL with the hope of distributing it to vets, rescue and pet supply places to inform the public about BSL and making it available to other people to distribute. I am wanting to put photos of dogs on the cover, but other than my own I don't have any, so was wondering if any dolers would be kind enough to let me use photos of their dog? I would also like put a smaller version of http://www.pitbullsontheweb.com/petbull/findpit.html in the leaflet and would more than appreciative if owners of any of these breeds could let me use a photo: Boxer Rhodesian Ridgeback bullmastiff American bulldog Staffordshire Bull Terriers American Staffordshire Terriers It would be very clear in the leaflet that none of the photos are of a pitbull and I will provide the leaflet to anyone who lets me use a photo before I finish it so they can see the photo in use.

There will always be moron dog owners and people who own dogs that don't know how to raise/train them. I don't see the harm in trying to educate people that tougher BSL will not fix the problem of dog attacks. I don't expect anything I do will change the world or how everyone approaches dog ownership, but I do feel that it is important to do at least something and not to approach BSL with a defeatist attitude and blame other people.

I've been through so many harnesses with Misha, presently I have a black dog one, but I find it twists and shifts around alot, no matter how much I adjust it. I have been looking at leather harnesses, as they look like not only are they more adjustable, but will fit better and the felt lining should stop them slipping. They also seem mainly to be designed to suit deep chested dogs, which would be a huge benefit. I was curios what peoples' experiences were with leather harnesses? and also where you got them from?

Well she got the chicken frame tonight, she is very happy with herself and had no problems chomping it down

thanks for the replies, looks like Misha is going to be getting the chicken frame as is then.

I've brought Misha a chicken frame after reading that they can be good for her. The wishbone is still attached and looks to me like a choking hazard as well as some bones which look a bit sharp and pointy. Am I meant to feed it to her as is or remove the wishbone or any other bones?

I actually wasn't offered to build up the dosage. I guess/assume the RUSH therapy either makes it easier for the client OR they find it works better?? I will ask about it all when we go back in, in a fortnight, and let you know if you like hmm intriguing, I'd never heard of the RUSH treatment before this thread, I'm going to ask my Dermatologist tomorrow about it. That would be great if you let me know why your Dermatologist chose to go with it from the get go.

no, but I am kicking myself for not doing so . I'm presently going through all her medical history to try and remember what has been done and what has stopped. I'll to check this as I can't remember the exact dosage, but she was built up to a point where she was getting a high dosage fortnightly, then it was dropped down twice (I think) due to her itching more and getting flare ups and she is now on 35 units weekly. I'll have to check that though as my brain is a bit scrambled today. ETA - I've had my coffee now, she was built up to 100 units every 3 weeks, then dropped to 100 units fortnightly , then 50 units weekly, then 35 units weekly. The dosage was brought down due to itchiness. yes I feed dry food and it didn't occur to me that it would me a major source of exposure for storage mites . Think I might have to do research on feeding raw, can you suggest any good books? Misha has been trialled on a variety on anti-histamines, iramine which she is on currently seems to be the most effective, but she still itches and gets mild flareups ( though they could be worse, but I use cortisone cream and spray as soon as they start to appear) whats this? unless you misspelled smurf , could you please explain what this is? early on before it was known she had allergies, she had a really nasty series of ear infections, though they did clear up before she was started on the vaccine , so it is unclear whether these were related to her allergies. But she does scratch her ears and "shake them" sometimes, so I'm thinking they still can cause her discomfort. ETA: Ok so my memory is not that up to scratch, she continued to have yeasty ear infections in the beginning of the allergy vaccine buildup. Other than generally itchiness and the newly started constant licking of paws and front legs, its mainly discolouration, inflammation, sometimes sores ( thought I think this is due to Misha licking and itching herself) on her stomach and inside of her haunches and sometimes under her armpits ( and by this I mean her front legs). She lost all the fur on her tummy and a lot off her inner haunches, which has over time grown back but I am noticing that the fur on her inner haunches & tummy is starting to thin out again. If there are fleas or flea dirt present and if they bite her on the stomach, the bites turn into large red sores. I think she is lucky that her reactions are milder than some dogs, the worst of it is watching her itch, she can be asleep on her bed and wake up with a jump and start scratching and the constant scratching and general discomfort she seems to be in is not fun to watch. I've heard in brief detail that scientist are investigating Tumeric as a "super spice" to combat and prevent a lot of problems, but I have not really looked into it. yes, for 6 weeks before we did the initial Intradermal test.

Both my guys had the RUSH therapy, Rhino back in December & Electra just last week. I'm not sure what you mean, did I do it myself? They both went into the Derm clinic/Uni for a day to get it done. They now have an injection every 3 weeks, which I give myself. Edited for grammar I meant go down that path yourself . Can I ask why you chose to do the rush treatment instead of building up the vaccine dosage over time?

I have considered going the alternative medicine path, but I'm a bit sceptical about some of the things I've read. That being said I havn't discounted it yet.

I've taken Misha into the office with me once, I came prepared with a bag of goodies and toys thinking she'd be bored tied up to my desk all day and she'd want to go where the action was and she just slept all day next to the heater

from my very limited understanding, its about managing the dogs allergies, After Misha initially had an intradermal test the Dermatologist gave other options on how to manage the allergies this included medicating with anti histamines or cortisone and other measures to reduce the dustmite population.

We did it and it didn't work, we live on Cortisone as many of his allergens are things we can not control. how long you you try the immunotherapy for?

The Dermatology resident we have seen the last 2 times is the protegee of our regular Dermatologist. Yes the intradermal test was done to see if the if immunotherapy was working, not it was not because it was suspected she had developed other allergies, this is what the resident told me No ,i haven't tried taking her off the immunotherapy, I do like this idea it does seem like it would give a better indication about the immunotherapy's effectiveness RUSH treatment - would you mind explaining what you mean? ;) The dosage of the vaccine was reduced from 100 units to 35 awhile ago because she was getting worse symptoms on the 100 units ( the doses had been built up to this) treatment at the moment is: Daily Anti-histamines (Iramine) Application of Cortisone cream/spray for flare ups Bathing fortnightly with maleseb Omega 3 oil added to meals Taking as many measures as possible around the home with cleaning and washing to reduce dust mite population thank you for taking the time to explain all this, I appreciate it
