If you end up heading to the vet tomorrow, you could ask for a progesterone test to see what her level is, below a certain number and pups should have arrived and they can do a c-section. If not dropped low enough, you can ease your worries that she is just not ready yet. Hoping the vet trip won't be needed and she whelps soon!

I believe the new biggest dog title is owned by a Newfoundland.....was in the papers a short while ago, and doing the rounds in emails etc...not confirmed as biggest yet the article says... it is a landseer (white/black) http://www.oregonlive.com/idahosportugal/i...t_be_bigge.html Found this while looking for the info on the Newf - http://www.worldslargestdog1.com/samson_wo...argest_dog.html

I have a Birman and well.....a few Newfs....lol You get used to the hair, and it is easy to pick up, just rolls into a ball, doesn't tend to "stick" in things. They do shed a lot. Love the pics Newfsie.

Run Free Myra - 14 Years Old Newfoundland
alotanewfs replied to alotanewfs's topic in Rainbow Bridge
Thank you all for your kind words on the loss of Sweet Missy Myra. She returned home today, in a lovely box with engraved lid with butterflies, very nice. -
This is the first I've heard about it (and am a club secretary) our breed uses the pre 1987 standard.....doubt many (if anyone) would vote to adopt country of origin as it eliminates a whole accepted colour in the breed. Have sent it on to the other club secretaries for my breed.

Last night we had to say goodbye to our sweet girl Myra. Myra (Aust CH Bouvet Myra) was 14 years, 2 months old. The hardest part was that her mind was still as good as ever, her back legs gave up and she could not stand. Myra was our wonder dog.... - at 10 years of age, she blew a cruciate, and we had to make the choice to give surgery a go, which at her age was very risky, or to let her go. We are so thankful that we gave her a chance. - at 11 and a half years of age, she somehow severed her tongue and almost bled out, again we were advised that at her age, with that amount of blood loss, surgery was very unlikely to save her, and they couldn't stabilise her before putting her under as she just kept bleeding.....later that night we got the call to say we could come and get her. Only once she had fully recovered did the vet let on that they were positive that she would not, could not, make it through the blood loss and surgery. She was stubborn and knew what she wanted, she would bark for her meals and if she wanted to go outside. None of the other dogs ever messed with her, and she liked to think she could chase the horse. She will be missed terribly. Run and play with your son Cowan. CH Bouvet Myra "Myra" 3rd November 1995 - 1st February 2010

We have news of two litters of Newfs due... 1. 9th Feb - Sired by Lukas, not our litter. Ultrasound confirmed 2 pups but was an ancient machine and vet who had not done large bitch scan before..... Expecting Blacks and Landseers. 2. 13th Feb - Sired by Lukas, not our litter....ultrasound confirmed pregnancy, has to go back for check ups as she aborted last time....fingers crossed the constant vet checks and treatment will help her deliver at term this time. Elsa and family, so very very sorry to read of Spike's passing. He looks and sounds like he was true gentleman and had the wonderful spirit that will be remembered by you forever.

WOW!! Thank you! Love them all. I love the way you've seperated the boys and girls with Kitty...lol Thanks again, great stuff.

Would anyone like to have a go at making me a signature with my Newfoundlands? I'd be really grateful! Or any talented people who would like to "pretty up" the pictures....... I have been playing with Photoshop and have done some of the OOB and Black & White with a hint of colour, but just can't get a signature that I love. I'd like (if possible) the following dogs head shots on it, Kennel Prefix is PADDLEPAWS Myra (CH Bouvet Myra) Cowan (CH Paddlepaws Marksman) Spice (CH Newfcastle Sweetn Spicey) Lukas (CH Paddlepaws Code Red) Bo (CH Newfangled Tickitiboo) Mishiki (Pritty Kitty) Perhaps if possible, on a background of water......being water dogs..... Thanks in advance, and excitedly looking forward to any inventions!

Good Vet In Melb. For Giant Breeds?
alotanewfs replied to Stewie_the_Frenchie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We have had numerous Newfs hip/elbow x-rayed at Monash and they are excellent with the giants. I am in the Dandenong ranges area and have a wonderful vet clinic that deals with a LOT of Newfs if you are prepared to travel a little.......PM me if you want the info, but I'd happily go to Monash with any of my Newfs.
