I first saw Maxey and his brother from two fuzzy pictures and allowed the breeder to pick the one most affectionate and loving for me. He came out of the crate at the airport, jumped into my arms and I knew he was mine. When I later spoke to his breeder about how perfect he is for me, she replied that she knew he was right for me and that I would love him, and my phonecall only confirmed it! So yeah, the breeders tend to know best. The same went for my cat too. He was just purrrfect when I saw him in his airline crate, and attached himself right away to me (I was worried that the feeling might not be mutual as I had his kitten development pictures all the way till he came to me).

This is so incredibly sad! Omg, I do not know how I would be able to cope if I ran a puppy over. So sorry for everyone involved.

Nekhbet is right - there IS a live animal section! http://pets-pet-supplies.shop.ebay.com.sg/...-/156187/i.html So I think it might actually be allowed. Sigh.

I can't believe some people are selling Chihuahua puppies (4 weeks at that!) on eBay. Have reported them and hopefully they take it down really soon. I'd hate to see 1mth old babies go to homes via PayPal~ It's sickening! The listings are from Singapore: There's also a 3-week old Jap Spaniel:( Wonder if it's allowed as they list them as classified ads~ ETA: Oops, sorry about the links!

Thank you everyone for your replies, will definitely start from basics again ugh. I had no idea he would mark in someone's house because he never had that problem before! I never thought much of his marking the odd lamp-post, but the marking around the house and other people's places is definitely new. We used to bring him out with no problems at all, but we're never leaving the house without a belly band again. He also just marked the backpack of the IT tech guy who came around to check our modem router and I had to sneaky clean it all and hope he doesn't notice! Gawd. Just received the belly bands today so will give that a try at home - do you use a sanitary pad with it? It didn't occur to me it might be an anxiety/dominance issue - thanks for bringing that up, I will look it up because he "seems" like such a well-adjusted, confident boy. He's never shown dominance in the traditional sense (possessiveness, aggression etc) or timidity (cowering, shaking, shying away from strangers etc) but perhaps I am overlooking something.

I love these pics! You're very talented!

Hi all, Recently, my 11.5month old Chihuahua started marking about the house - he even pooped on my brother's bed a few times. I do not know what sparked this as he has never done this before. I've already ordered a set of belly bands (camo!) from eBay but that simply stops the clean up, not the desire? What was most embarassing was that we took him to a friend's posh place and Maxey lifted his leg on their very expensive speakers! It was then I bought the belly bands~ I clean up with the part-vinegar/part-water solution, but I really want to learn how to stop this behaviour. Maxey was neutered slightly short of 6 months so I don't know why he is doing it. Do I have to watch him like a hawk all the time just so to intervene with a "No!"? Any advise is appreciated.

Here's me and Maxey, out at lunch at a cafe with friends. When he was a baby:
-
The female dog sits down, as her way of not accepting the behaviour but she isn't telling him off. When I supervise them, it's a "Off!" every 5 seconds or so and smacking his little scrawny butt isn't detering him either. He just comes back for more. Now, I've taken to keeping him in my room unless I'm downstairs watching him. It's a little tiring and all I want is for them to all get along and respect each other. He's also taken to humping the male puppy...

Good to know, thanks corvus. May the countdown begin!

So... Maxey had quite a few ch-ch-ch-changes (/sings) lately. He's been flown home to Singapore from Perth due to OH's relocation of work and while we're waiting to get a place for the both of us, I'm staying with my parents who currently houses 3 dogs - a Spitz/Pom male rescue (10yrs), a Schnauzer/Poodle female rescue (4 yrs) and a Shih Tzu male puppy (4 months). We also have 2 rescue cats and an Amazonian Parrot. Maxey has been humping the female dog incessantly. Obsessively. So we took him in for neutering a little earlier than we planned, at 5.5 months. Everything went well but he's stil humping! In fact, he resumed the humping a day after the surgery, with the Elizabethean collar and all! He's fantastic as the only dog - docile, extremely affectionate, really clingy to me - but now, he has eyes only for the female dog and refuses to sleep/eat/rest! His previously impeccable recall is out the window, and I can't get him to sit/down or anything. I have to pry him away from his heart's desire and take him to my room, where he'll fall asleep immediately. In the room, he becomes the perfect dog again, except for the eating, which is another story altogether. I've tried reprimanding him every time he tries to hump but it doesn't deter him. He's also been challenging the oldest dog - barking, growling etc. All the dogs, except for the Shih Tzu pup, are desexed. The OH is now considering an electronic collar, but I'm not keen on the idea. He's a Chihuahua. Anyone has ideas?

My Chi pup had a similiar reaction to the collar and harness, but he was definitely more adverse to the harness. Yes, I totally know how small these contraptions are for Chihuahua puppies! I had collars made for 5.5" necks so they fit fine, and one is velvet with elastic banding to allow for room to grow and comfort. Like what everyone said: Put it on, and leave it on. After ignoring him for a while, and him realising that nothing was being put on hold for him and his discomfort, he just joined right back into the activity. I did a great show of playing with his favourite toy though.. The harness was harder. We worked with the harness for 5 minutes the first day, then increasing the time by 5mins each time. As Maxey is totally not motivated by food or treats, and his toys weren't working, we figured his greatest lure was "Mommy" haha. Had the OH hold him on the harness while I call out to him a few feet away, patting my lap etc, and on the third day, he took his first steps in the harness. We then increased the distance he had to walk, and showered lots of praise and hugs when he walked into my lap. He now go for walks happily in the harness So keep working with Toby, and good luck!

Lol, those are precious!

Thanks guys, yes he's a cutie (though I may be a tad bit biased :D). He's growing very steadily so we're glad. Here's a few more over the weekend, and in a matching plaid shirt with Daddy! Matching Plaid: Grassland: Chi-O-Meter: Another mode of transport:

I used to foster and handle adoptions of kittens myself, and it's always so amazing how far a good picture can go. My Inbox would get flooded with requests, and then I'd channel the spillover to other kittens I know needing homes, or arrange for an adoption drive for other available cats. Good luck with your kittens! They're really very cute!

You do wonderful photos, Luke. You can probably do pet photography on the sideline - they're of amazing quality! I believe Barkly has sparked a love for Blue Roan Spaniels I never knew I had, and I'm certain you've inspired lots of DOL-ers to put in more time with Photoshop and Lightroom!

Hi all, Decided to post some of Maxey's pictures here too (I'd just posted a few in the Chihuahua breed forums) for those closet Chi lovers! He's such a joy that I actually commissoned a simple piece of jewellery to commemorate his coming. I feel totally nutty doing that, but it's nothing too cutesy - just an inscribed bracelet with his birthstone, a Peridot. I'm a little surprised myself how much I'm enjoying having a toy breed (this is my first toy dog - closet paris mabbe?). He came to us 2nd Nov at 10 weeks old and 800grams - just the smallest cutest thing and it was love at first sight. He loves being carried about, so he goes everywhere with us - to the shops, markets, lunch at the docks, running errands at the mall, etc. Sometimes we actually have to ENCOURAGE him to act like a dog and run about. He loves romps at the park though. Pictures have terrible quality as they were shot with my iPhone. It's so incredibly hard to get a shot of an excitable and velcro Chi puppy with a proper camera! in his rhinestone skull collar - phwoar! his mode of transport - a Crumpler camera bag called "5 Million Dollar Home" ha!

Such great shots of super cute kitties! With pictures like these, they'll have homes reserved for them in no time! I love how cats always seem to be in a pose because they're so regal and graceful.

Beautiful pictures! Very well done, and Ruby is just lovely!

So, I've gotten the most perfect Chihuahua puppy -he travels well, sleeps through the night, loves all his toys, great with other dogs and kids, reliable off-lead, quiet, follows me everywhere. He's just gorgeous with a great temperament and a wonderful affectionate nature. Just one little thing... When he first arrived at 10 weeks, he was good with toilet-training. He actually learned to use the kitty litter box on the first night (*proud mommy beams all around*), and I've been vigilant with his training (just like all the other posts I see on this forum) - I take him out to the yard after eating, sleeping, playing, and I wake up twice during the night to bring him 'potty'. He's recently been pooping and peeing on his bed, our bed, his chew bone, his crate, his blanket, the couch. I had always thought that dogs generally do not defecate in areas they sleep at? Is he being confused at the indoor potty area and outside yard (I place the litter box at the door to the yard), or is he being dependent on us taking him each time and no longer wants to go on his own? When I take him out, he does a pee and I do the whole cheerleader routine, and once we step inside, he does a TINY trickle on the rugs. I have no idea what changed his behaviour, and why he now does a pee in 2 installments? Any ideas? I've had him for 2.5 weeks.
