I got biten by one of my own dogs, long story and my own fault, had one DA and was trying to split a fight. But basically if the dog is registered and it happens on your own property not anything the council can do. So if this person was attacked on the dogs property the owners should be able to get dogs back i believe. Out on the street different story. If the council can trick you into handing over dogs they will do that. They couldnt seize ours as we refused to hand them over, although we chose to PTS the DA one we werent willing to give the council control. Mind you the ranger had no idea about dogs just kept asking which was the "bad" dog and which one atttacked me... Which the non DA dog started it and the non DA dog was the one i got in the way of. (Although told them i didnt know) but after they realised they werent getting the dogs they left and never followed up. Mind you they couldnt get into my property so maybe they didnt care as they figured dogs couldnt get out. I was suprised by the fact we were never contacted again, because they really only had our word to go on what happened i was at least expecting To get a dangerous dog declaration but they really have no power until an attack happens on public property

Thanks flea bombing has happened, they still have fleas!!! So i guess ill get advocate and capstar and try that on the weekend while we are away, and maybe flea bomb again, i sidnt lift the couch cushions so try that

We are eastern suburbs Melbourne. Those treatments have been over the last month. Hopefully the flea bombing works I guess, poor dog he is in so much pain with them biting him. At least the flea comb gets the adult ones out

Help, my dog has fleas!!! and i mean i can pick 20 off him in about 2 minutes. He had the groomer come had a flea rinse, he has had 2 lots of chews, capstar 5 days running, a flea collar and i put the stuff you put on their butt and neck at about 10am. Just now at least 20 fleas i saw and one was even touching the flea collar!! I am flea bombing the house tomorrow but what can i do???

The non reactive dog has gone to stay at my mums, so we can at least give the other boy a few good days and some time to come to terms with everything

Yeah he was a foster, if he was an only dog he would be great. He is awesome with the baby but as the baby becomes mobile we just cant risk him in the middle of it. I think i know it has to be done its just coming to terms with it

Please be nice havent been here for a while. We have a reactive dog we have had under control for 1.5 years until yesterday. He got in a fight with my other dog it came from nothing, i was home alone with my 6 month old and it took a good 20 minutes to get them apart. Now it looks like all we can do is have the reactive dog PTS Its killing me but we cant have this happen again, our block is too small and we are too time poor to keep them completely separate. Thing is 99% of the time he is a great dog but i think the risk is just too great

After losing another kmart cheapie looking at getting an anti chew dog bed. We have a "dog bag" dog bed which has lasted years but cant find them anymore. We thought the snooza d1000 might be good but would like to know what others think

I think a level of fear/respect is required. Something i heard on tv once was about lions, in Africa children are taught if you go near a lion it will rip your face off our children are flooded with images of people cuddling lions on things like totally wild. Thats not normal and shows no respect for what the animal is capable of. But still people in africa arent scared of lions they believe if your killed by a lion your cursed as lions dont kill people, elephants/crocs/hippos do. I think we need to teach children the same about dogs, that the dog can injure you and you need to let the relationship be on the dogs terms. They are not a childs toy. A healthy level of fear. Being terrified is too much

Our 3rd dog, we got as a foster as he had tested well there. Straight away i knew something was wrong with him and brought in a behaviourist, she said he had been badly abused and exhibited fear issues, then he got attacked by a pug and became fear agressive towards other dogs. We got him managable but not rehomable. He is so attached to me its incredible, he likes my husband and my father but not to the same level, other people he could live without. Even if his temperment allowed rehoming i dont think he would cope, he really struggles going into boarding with his trainer.

I had a plan to abduct and desex an entire male cat that was stalking and attacking my desexed female, after it got into my house one night. Sadly my cat passed away so i never did it. Someone told me it was breaking the law and i figured it was breaking the law that not only was their cat out after curfew it was also always on my property. Id groom it without letting them know who did it. Just because he has bad owners doesnt mean he deserves to suffer. Worst case if it pisses them off they might keep the dog inside from now on... Its win win

Warning people seems to have no effect. We had worked out a walking path to avoid offlead dogs, but now a man with a pom likes to sit outside while his dog charges people, we have asked him to restrain the dog and he couldnt catch it, now when he sees us coming he just wanders around behind it... I dont want to complain just on him as he is only a few doors from us and i think he would work out it is us.

Does anyone know if you can make a general complaint to council about an area. Our area is insane for off lead dogs, in particular small dogs that like to charge big ones. We have a reactive dog as well as 2 others, greyhound/staffy (reactive) a staffy and a jackrussel x. We muzzle the reactive one as he will have a snap at a charging dog, fair enough i think but he could do some damage, but even this now no longer seems to make people think they should restrain their dogs. I would never let my toy poodle run at a pack of dogs but seems most think its fine

I go into the knox one all the time. They tend to have 1 dog, a litter of kittens, 2-3 adult cats and a couple of rabbits. The dog is missing a lot as they take him/her out for walks. The cages are small but a few months ago they told me they hadnt had a dog longer than four days. I also know one store had some grey hounds they had trouble rehoming so they put them in foster care.

Thanks for the advice, we started it, then i caught him once and told him no and he hasnt marked inside again. Bad i know but it was just reaction

Hi everyone, We have a 5 week old baby and 3 dogs. It has been going really well so far all dogs have been friendly with baby. We have 1 dog who has been abused, is dog reactive and scared of random objects. Anyway this dog has started marking in the house, despite the 20 plus foster dogs we have had we have never had this problem. So i was wondering how we stop him doing it? It is getting worse at first we couldnt work out which one was marking but now he will mark all the time

$35 at my vet but he doesnt recommend it fordogs under 2 years as the heartworm wouldnt be mature so we just treat for heartworm if under 2. But yeah you have to pay for consult too. Also my vet told me one in 100 will be positive in Victoria so i guess its a small risk but a real one
