  1. Is anyone driving down sat morn? Or even fri night? Looking for a lift. Can help with petrol. Wont have any dogs or worldly possessions.
  2. With Poodles, the breed standard describes a "Joy of life". A poodle in the show ring must go around with all flags flying, head up, tail up and act like they own the ring. A Poodle with tail down on the move should not be awarded. I hate seeing any poodle being dragged around the ring and then backing off from a judge. The best show poodles are the hardest to live with and if you get that temperament (which we love) in a pet you need a really strong willed owner who is prepared to put in time and effort training. We would never breed from a bad temperament poodle, especially a bitch, (so far haven't had one) even if it was the best conformation.
  3. Health and good temperament are the most important things with any breed, closely followed by correct breed type. Our dogs are first and foremost family pets and companions, you may have the most perfect physical example of a breed, but to be a good member of the family they must be sound in temperament. We have been showing for 10 yrs. So far comformation titled all of the dogs we have shown (9 Stds & 1 Mini) and Grand Champion titled one of our own breeding, the only Standard Poodle in Victoria to do so while we have been showing. Two dogs have a couple of Obedience titles. Two are Certified Pets as Therapy dogs. Three (Grandma, son & Grandaughter) are demonstration dogs for the Responsible Pet Ownership Program visiting schools and teaching kids how to be safe around dogs. Our goal for our next litter is to produce healthy, typey good temperament dogs to be great companions for their new owners and one to be shown by us and hopefully go on to obedience trials.

  11. Copied from DogsVic website Change of judge Heidelberg Heidelberg & District Kennel Club Inc have advised that Mrs M Thomas is unable to fulfil her judging appointment. Group three will now be judged by Ms N Ryan (WA), her first group three appointment in Victoria. Should group three exhibitors wish to withdraw from the show, it must be done in writing (letter) or email, phone cancellations are not accepted.

  17. We keep a running sheet of results for each dog. We will always give a judge 2 chances with each dog, not many on our DO NOT enter list. One particularly bad experience that has left a lasting memory was a judge grabbing my Std Poodle by his topknot and almost pulling him over, insinuated that it was false! Then for BIG the judge put up a dog that very rarely won a challenge, let alone a class in Grp(not our breed). We were later told that the judge was trying to buy a dog from the breeder. Same judge was reported by another exhibitor for rough handling of their dog. Few years later, same judge, but had moved states so we missed our blacklist and entered. Only realised on the day, at least we won a CC, then BOB went to the worst groomed dog, ran it for Grp and awarded class in Grp. ( rarely won a CC and never titled). Another old friend of the judge.
