The ANKC breed conference is to be held on the 26th of June in Sydney this year. One of the agena items is this very topic. If you want to have your say then talk to your breed councils and get them to support of reject this motion. 5.8 ANKC Regulations Part 13, Clause 4.2.5 National Border Collie Council THAT the ANKC be requested to amend 4.2.5 to read: Where a National show is held, no Challenge Certificates shall be awarded in Australia for the breed/s involved in the National Show on that/those day/s. Rationale: The rule was amended to 500 km. [the change to above Clause 4.2.5 from 1000km to 500km to be implemented as from 1 January 2010. (Amended 10/08, 7.1)] without consultation with clubs which had already agreed to host National Shows. The rule is discriminatory and should apply to the whole of Australia or not at all. This is what was discussed at last years (2009) conference on the topic: 2.3 Amendment to ANKC Regulations Part 13, Clause 4.2.5 (Refer Minutes 17.10.09, Item 6.3.2) Discussed: Oct 08, Item 7.1 Discussed: Jul 09, Item 2.14 CCCQ That the ANKC Regulations 13 Part 4.2.5 that states that 'where a National Show is held, no Challenge Certificates shall be awarded for the breed/s involved in the National Show, within a radius of 1000km from the show on that day/s' be amended to reduce the distance from 1000km to 500km Rationale: The distance is excessive and is causing problems in Qld. For example the National Dalmatian Show on 18 April 2010 to be hosted by Dalmatian Club of NSW causes a problem with the Kennel Association of Queensland Show (one of Qld's oldest Club Shows) as no Challenge Certificates can be given at this Show. The CCCQ at present cannot award Challenges when a National Show is held in Sydney (733km) or Canberra (945km), this is felt to be very excessive. The ACTCA is also greatly affected at present and cannot award Challenges when a National Show is held in any of the 'Eastern Capitals' (including Adelaide). I attach below a table of distances for reference. Brisbane Sydney Canberra Melbourne Hobart Adelaide Brisbane 0 733 945 1373 1788 1600 Sydney 733 0 247.4 712 1056 1161 Canberra 945 247.4 0 465 857 958 Melbourne 1373 712 465 0 597 654 Hobart 1788 1056 857 597 0 1161 Adelaide 1600 1161 958 654 1161 0 It was RESOLVED that the ANKC Regulations 13 Part 4.2.5 that states that 'where a National Show is held, no Challenge Certificates shall be awarded for the breed/s involved in the National Show, within a radius of 1000km from the show on that day/s' be amended to reduce the distance from 1000km to 500km. It was unanimously RESOLVED that the change to Regulations 13 Part 4.2.5 be implemented from 1 January 2010. AGENDA of the conference of National Breed Councils – 26.06.2010 6 Mrs. Merchant referred delegates to the recommendation from the NBSCG contained in their tabled report. Delegates concurred with the recommendation that the change to the distance in Clause 4.2.5 from 1000kms to 500kms should revert back to 1000km to protect national shows. It was unanimously RESOLVED on the motion of G Acreman/J MacDonald that the NBSCG recommendation be endorsed that the ANKC delegates reconsider their decision moved at the 2008 ANKC Conference to reduce the distance from 1000 km to 500 km where Challenge Certificates cannot be awarded on day/s a National Show is conducted. It is recommended that the distance of1000 km radius remain and the regulation convert to the previous wording of: “Where a National Show is held, no Challenge Certificates shall be awarded for the breed/s involved in the National Show, within a radius of 1000km from the show on that day/s.” Discussion revealed that the majority of delegates agreed there was a need to support National Breed Councils and National Shows. It was RESOLVED that the ANKC adopt the recommendation for the ANKC delegates to reconsider their decision moved at the 2008 ANKC Conference to reduce the distance from 1000 km to 500 km where Challenge Certificates cannot be awarded on day/s a National Show is conducted in Regulations Part 13 Clause 4.2.5 and for the distance of 1000 km radius remain and for the regulation to convert back to the previous wording of: “Where a National Show is held, no Challenge Certificates shall be awarded for the breed/s involved in the National Show, within a radius of 1000km from the show on that day/s.” It was RESOLVED

I voted no CC's Australia wide... the show is a NATIONAL and I feel these events should be fully supported. A national shouldn't be another champ show... there needs to be rules like this to make it 'special'. Dictionary definition of NATIONAL (just to be silly :D ) 1. of or having to do with a nation or the nation 2. affecting a (or the) nation as a whole; nationwide in scope, involvement, representation, etc. points to note (from the Poodle National perspective)... - Nationals aren't held every year - they rotate around cities - this rule would effect maybe 2 shows in one weekend around your show area in 2yrs

I went over to TAS in January this year with my standard poodle in the Vito van. I have a greatdane sized wire crate/pen in the back, with a lid on top. I left the doors of the van open just to make sure she was cool enough. I did hear her screaming for half the trip but thats because she is a needy bitch and was just a puppy and not use to travelling alone. She was fine on the way home. All you need to do is sign a provided waver so the boat isn't responsible if anything happens to your dog (or car). It is free to transport dogs in your own car/trailer.

Try putting somthing smelly on his chin to block out the smells on the ground. Vanilla essence, your own perfume (tiny bit), or anything else smelly. Have a read of this link about clicker training... really useful to know about animal behaviour... http://www.westielovers.com/westieworld/kp1.html

Mvkc Shows In August At Albury Wodonga Equestrian Centre
capanash replied to jan seary's topic in General Dog Discussion
We had a good weekend last year, thinking about doing it again this year. I see there is no Neuter class this year, even with the new Neuter title available. -
Ok here goes... - 1st time I handled a dog for someone else was a baby Lhasa. I was so honored that someone would let me show their dog. We got halfway around the ring and he decided to poo... I was soooo embarassed and didn't know what to do. - last year I was at a show in heavy rain and wading through mud. On my return from the out and back i tried to stop but did an almighty skid for a metre or so and nearly skidded into the judge... just managed to stay upright but pulled muscles in my thighs.... hurt 4 ages afterwards! - make the mistake of taking a suit i hadn't worn since the previous year along to a shown and then figured out it was wayyyyyyyy tooooooo small.... had 2 squeeze into the skirt by breathing in then having mymum zip me up... the skirt was sitting about mid thigh!!! would post photos but they r almost X rated... LOL... as soon as I got home from the show the suit was 'rehomed' to a DOLer!!! i'm sure there are more that I have blanked from my memory

7.5 PROCEDURES AT EXHIBITIONS 7.5.1 No member of a Judge’s family or household, including a person who resides at the same address, or a Judge’s partner, shall exhibit or handle any dog at any fixture at which the Judge officiates as a judge. This regulation does not apply to a Trainee Judge judging a sweepstakes class where the class is judged before breed classes. 7.5.2 At an exhibition a Ring Steward will not exhibit or handle any exhibit under a Judge for whom they have stewarded at that exhibition. 7.5.3 No person shall enter any exhibit or handle in any Show or other exhibition under any Judge who has, or has had, a proprietary interest in a dog or dogs whether solely or in partnership with such person, within a period of twelve months prior to such Show or exhibition. 7.5.4 No person shall exhibit or handle under a Judge, if that Judge has handled any dog owned or part owned, leased or part leased by such person within a period of 12 months prior to such event or exhibition. This Regulation applies to approved and sanctioned events, with the exception of members competitions and dog matches, and does not apply where an exhibitor assists another exhibitor who, due to a judging decision on the day, is required to compete with two or more exhibits at the same time. 7.5.5 No person shall exhibit or handle under a Judge, if that person has handled any dog owned or part owned, leased or part leased by such Judge within a period of 12 months prior to such event or exhibition. This regulation applies to all approved and sanctioned events, with the exception of members competitions and dog matches, and does not apply where an exhibitor assists another exhibitor who, due to a judging decision on the day, is required to compete with two or more exhibits at the same time. 7.5.6 No person shall exhibit or handle under a Judge if that person has billeted that Judge or been billeted by that Judge in the period of six months prior to a Show at which that Judge is officiating or intends to billet the Judge within 24 hours after the Show.

The reason this rule exists is to protect Nationals. For instance people could go off to a ag show instead of attending a National knowing that the main competition is tied up supporting the National Show. This will affect only 1 or 2 All Breeds shows a year so people need to deal with it. Otherwise Nationals become just another champ show rather than being special. I think it is very bad form for the All Breed show NOT to advertise the shows non-awarding of BOB's ect.... but at the same time you should know when your National is on and that there is a ANKC rule with the 1000km exclusion zone.

neone know who's Mini Poodle it was??? Congrats to all winner... special congrats to Tara and Bond (the Dali)!!!

We compete in Obedience, our girl Freya completed her Novice title (CD) last year. One of our girls, Lea is training for Agility and Freya's grandaughter Athena is training for obedience, should be ready to trial very soon. The top obedience dog in Victoria last year was one of the Giday standard poodles, there are several Giday poodles doing very well in the obedience ring.
