  1. Anyone know if there were ne std poodles?
  2. Thankyou GRD for sorting this out for us. We had written it off after several emails that went no where.
  3. Looking forward to our first city Neuter shows this weekend at Southern Cross KC @ KCC Park Melb. Thankyou to this club for running the Neuter class!!! Athena only needs one CC for her Champ title BUT NT won't send us a cert that they owe us so we have to wait until Sunday for the title! So who is coming???
  4. We choose the puppy to suit the new owner. They all have different personalities and you need to see them for more than a short visit to determine which puppy is suitable.
  5. We know someone with a 4yr old Std Poodle that has had a pacemaker fitted. The dog was collapsing during exercise and was found to have episodes of bradycardia(slow heartrate). Treatment was done at the Southern Animal Emergency centre in Melbourne. They used an out of date human pacemaker, cost was around $10,000.
  6. Just another thought on this subject. Over the weekend, we saw a dog win a 6pt BOB, Runner up in Grp, then Runner up in Show. After beating all but one dog at the show, the dog is still only awarded 6pts and under existing rules, the win does not count towards a Grand Champion title.
  7. I have been in the same situation after being bitten by a neighbours dog, no other dog involved, just me riding my bike. I made a statement to the council Animal Control officer, he saw my injured leg after I attended the local hospital and this was enough to prove injury. Council was very good keeping in contact, but it did take months to finalise. The case went to court, luckily the owner did not contest the charge so I didn't have to appear. Owner was fined and the dog went to live elsewhere. If the dog was involved in a future attack, it would have been euthanased. I saw the dog a couple of years later, it was staying with the original owners and walking with them in the park. Still rushed at my dogs and anyone else who walked anywhere close.
  8. There was a WA Allbreeds Best in Show last year with 27 dogs. This still qualifies for Grand Champion.
  9. Interesting. We have had Std Poodles for 12 yrs. 3 of our dogs have had bloat, early diagnosis and successful surgery. From our first litter, 2 died of bloat before the age of 3 (this litter was a total outcross). We have done a lot of reading about bloat in Std Poodles, the breed is in the top 10 for bloat, and decided not to continue with that line due to the high incidence of bloat on one side of the pedigree. Most literature suggests that the chance of bloat doubles when a first degree relative is affected.
  10. Facebook has shown me the answer... Sunday BIG 7: std Poodle- Ch Starus Im Talking
  11. Any Group 7 results for Sunday??? and standard poodles?
  12. Our old girl Freya, aged 11yrs Ch Marlau Lucindas Princess CCD CD is entered in Veterans Sweepstakes, she still loves a run around the ring and shows better now than when we were campaigning her. Trouble is, she was dyed pink for a charity Pink Ribbon Breakfast (October is Breast Cancer awareness month)and even after bathing her the pink food dye has not washed out completely. We have shown her in a Veterans Parade at our Breed Specialty when she was pink, Judge thought she was absolutely beautifull. Question for all you experienced show people, do you think it inappropriate to show her with colour still in her coat?
  13. Hi Sway, do you know what Standards were there and who won? only Std Shown.
  14. I'm trying to dry a standard poodle at the moment but keep having to run in and check results! I think it's time for an I phone... lol Got to stick to my breed and say Puppy IN Show to the Standard Poodle Best In Show to the Setter. *** Also BIG THANKYOU to all those people involved in bring the live Royal results to us people stuck back at home Sway and her trusty band of slaves... i mean helpers :p
  15. The numbers in between are Obedience & performance entries. Our CCD Std Poodle bitch is 2853.
  16. Amputation I know two people that had dogs with broken legs (i know it's a little different) #1 person was freaked out by the idea of a 3 legged dog so had the break repaired... slightly nutty dog so a couple of days later the dog rebroke it so ended up having it amputated. The dog was back to normal again within a week and adjusted really well. #2 broke leg and had it repaired. owner now regrets not having it amputated due the pain the leg causes the dog and the early arthritis remember that dogs adjust to amputaions amazingly well
  17. There have been carriers of VWB in Australia in recent years. DNA is the only accurate test. We DNA all of our potential breeding dogs.
  18. Forgot to add... that really sucks! I think the Melb is one of the worse around... i've been to Sydney which is really good for exhibitors.
  19. Poodlesave... 8 month old puppy Artizan Lord of The Ring
  20. We usually park at the primary school across the road... that way the money goes to them not the Royal of Racecourse.... but i think last year they were on't just opening when we go there and that wasn't COD (crack of dawn).
  21. Show secretary posted a reminder on the Ozshow list. It was a very early close of entry for a Victorian show, glad we sent our entries early. Our girl only needs one more CC for her title.
  22. Looking forward to this show. We had a great time last year, really well run show and it is close to our property at Benloch!
  23. Same here. I can just see potential for confusion, not everone is going to remember to post where they are. We like individual show topics, or specify in which State they are held.
