Pip's mum thanks for the reply. Will make a note of that drug for the time when we have to start down the road of drug therapy and it's good to know your fussy eater will eat joint guard as my boy is also a fussy bugger. Are the gabapentin tablets expensive ?
-
Thanks Harley, I think that's how I will proceed too as I already have the first bottle of the Cosequin. Also cannot believe how much cheaper it is to buy then online as opposed to the vet !!
-
Thanks so much, I will look into the joint guard. More cost effective would be great ! I swear these companies must think we have money trees in our backyards !

Hello, my 7 year old pointer has severe arthritis in his shoulder and is on cartrophen injections. Vet has just suggested we put him on Coseqin, anyone been getting good results with this ? My vet tells me he has done a lot of research into this and that this is the best product on the market followed by Sacha's blend. He tells me it's the rate of absorbsion that is most important...for example glucosamine tablets absorbed at a rate of around 10%, Sacha's blend is around 80% and Cosequin DS is higher again. Thoughts ?? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Some Breeds Less 'smelly' Than Others?
darlingdog replied to jacqui835's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have pointers.....no doggy smells from them unless they roll in something stinky . -
I've got timber floors with a large sisal rug in the loungeroom....sisal itself is great, stays looking reasonable but I wouldn't recommend them as all the dirt goes through to the floor. Discovered this when I lifted the whole rug up (it's huge) to find half the yard under there even though I vacumm every day LOL!!!

Happy Birthday Badger ! I still think you are one of the prettiest marked pointers I've seen. Enjoy your chips Badger.

Female english pointer ..... usually great with other dogs, very laid back ie. on the couch ! when not running ! can do both agility and obediance. Sweet and soft natures generally.
-
Is that available online? Not sure... I just went down and bought it at the local vet. Sure I paid too much but the situation was desperate LOL!!

We just moved house and the new place is CRAWLING with fleas. I advantixed my dogs 4 days before moving and it did NOTHING. They were full of fleas within a few hours. After tearing my hair out for 2 days I was told of COMFORTIS which is a monthly flea tablet. BRILLIANT, within 3 hours they did not have a flea on them. That was 2 weeks ago and still is working well. Does not do ticks though.

Judges behaviour is appalling and in my opinion so is the fact the HANDLER did NOTHING to take the dog out of the situation !!! FFS it's a dog show and there is always another one, get your dog OUT OF THAT SITUATION !!

Laughing so hard I almost wet myself !! Thanks so much for posting though as I am moving on Monday, with 3 dogs, not sure if I needed to read that at this point in time LOL!!! Thank god we are only going up the road !

Illium neocort used here too. Fantastic stuff. Stops any problems dead it it's tracks with my 3 pointers.

Great.....look like pointers or foxhounds crossed with bloodhounds to me...just what we need, another designer breed used by 'the good 'ole boys' of the world.

Council Advice On Dog Kill Laws Uneducated

HOLY CRAP that's SCARY stuff !!!! -
You can buy a single bed overlay of good quality memory foam at a mattress and bed store called Snooze. It's expensive but would make a great dog bed as it's thick enough and the dog could stretch right out if it wanted to. I bought one to put on my elderly mother's bed and she loved it and I have always thought what a good dog bed it would make. You would be able to put a single doona cover on it.

Please don't freak out ! Lots of us have been living in Qld all our lives with dogs and they have been just fine. Sure there are cane toads, snakes etc but there are some kind of nasties wherever you live. Ticks are the worst problem depending on where you are in Qld and you can manage them quite well with the right programme and vigilance on your part. Hope you can relax about it all and enjoy it when you move here. All the best.

Well we gave our dogs an old bed thinking how nice that would be for them. It lasted ONE night and was shredded beyond recognition, even the springs were twisted ! Then I gave them an old sofa..........slow learner here this human LOL!

I Tried To Be A Good Samaritan Last Night

Kirsty have sent you a message. Cheers. -
Drill multiple small holes in the bottom of the shell, it will drain better and you don't have to make a sandpit.

Putting my flame suit on........ok it's on and zipped up....here goes ! It's admirable that you stayed so long and tried to contact as many organisations as you did in the hope to get something done about the situation but the fact is at the end of the day no solution was reached other than this dog is still in the hands of idiots possibly to do the same thing again or eventually get run over because in the end you walked away. Sometimes in life if there is no one else there who can step up and take action then, IMO, you have to do it yourself. It takes a village and all that as the old saying goes. I would have taken the dog home and taken it to a shelter or the vet the next day. Kept it away from my own dogs even if it had to sleep in the laundry or the shed. This is not in any way a personal shot at you, most people would have done nothing and you did all you thought was appropriate. -
Dogs/or One Of Them Has Eaten Half A Block Of Butter..
darlingdog replied to MissMolly's topic in General Dog Discussion
Actually it can. Pancreatitis can be chronic or acute and can and does occur after a single very fatty meal. Yes I am a human sufferer of pancreatitis and I cannot take much fat EVER in my diet. One fatty meal and it would be disaster ! -
Sounds like your old boy is doing great, how I wish they lived longer lives our wonderful doggie companions. I was in a similiar situation about 2 years ago now. My old girl had a terminal disease and I knew we were going to lose her. My second dog was 3 at the time and had never lived alone so I opted to bring the new dog, who was 12months old, in before I lost my old girl so that my second dog was already bonded with the new dog. It all worked out really well and everyone coped beautifully. I just didn't register the new dog until after my old one had died ( about 6 months in time). Hope it all works out for you.
