Out of everything I do for the allergies the bathing is the biggest chore, we sometimes need to bath him 2x a week!! Until we own our own place, no hydrabath for us, I dont dry Mason with a dryer as it just makes his skin even dryer than it already is! Last night the vet recommended at least once a week until his allergies settle and "foot baths" every other day spoiled boy We found out insurance dosn't cover immunotherapy and after speaking to the vet last night (who has severe allergies herself so has so much sympathy for alergic dogs ) we decided to try changing his diet and upping baths and doses of Polaramine and see if that helps. What insurance are you with? Did they give a reason as to why they wont cover the immunotherapy?? I know a lot of people dont like Petplan but I can't complain, I have paid my $100 excess for Mason's allergies and they have paid for the rest of his treatment - around $4000 this year as he ws back and forth to the normal vet several times, then he had reactions to the ear drops, then the tests and immunotherapy.

What did you buy? I want a couple of cool coats and maybe that ball that makes noises and glows Need to measure the girls for the cool coats, but can't be bothered getting up :D I ordered a cool coat and a tug toy that has a pouch on the end that you put food in to encourage tugging. I bought Mason 1 size bigger coat then he has now as this one sits on his rump and his butt and tail area are not covered, just hope it is not too big ..... he is a lot bigger than your girls though - about 10K'gs heavier I think I ordered a 28" i think it was with the blue trim.

How long do the Clean Run orders usually take to get here?

Slowly! I think I am going to be flying by the seat of my pants unless the puppy comes with some kind of manual Lol, I got this really helpful free book when I signed up for a free puppy pack on the Eukaneuba ( spelling?) website, it came with a free food voucher too

That is EXACTLY what Dougs does - snorting through his nose Yip- 1 x snorting dog here too ;)

Weather is awful here, very very windy and pitch black sky, I think its going to rain again very very soon . I want a cool coat too, just need to work out what size to get for my pup - a 65cm is a bit small for him.. How do I measure him for a girth size which they say is optional?

Mason's work has been quite good this last week - despite the fact that he is itchier than he has ever been in his life at the moment, but this morning I wanted to do a recall, he sat and waited and when I called he then ran off and found a stick and would not come back to me I was quite un-impressed with him but I just put him back onlead and carried on doing other stuff. Can someone remind me again, when you are leaving the dog behind which foot do you step off with? I think I have gotten myself confused

Would have loved to do it but its my club comp at the same time ( not that I think Mason would be ready for it anyway)

I love cattle work This will be interesting though as it is a team penning competition. So you have a team of 3 horses/riders and have 2 minutes to cut out three cows wearing the same colour collar (which you are told by the judge when you start) from a mob of about 30 cattle and get them to the other side of the arena and into a little pen This is the start of our new season - and the second for the club Our team for this year is called "Bling it on" and we are going a tad overboard with mega bling diamonte browbands, diamonte edging on our saddlecloths, white boots on our ponies etc. I did draw the line at glitter on the ponies though! Oh and one of our team members is a guy Sounds like awesome fun! I have never done any work on horses around cattle, when is your comp, sounds very interesting, I would be keen to watch This comp is on Saturday afternoon at Bakers Hill. Next one is in Bullsbrook 16th October again afternoon, then swaps between Byford and Bullsbrook each month until June when it is back at Bakers Hill for the last event of the season - goes to evening during summer then back to afternoon as it cools off I would love to see it, will pm you closer to the time for the details of the one on 16 Oct

The inside of his ear flaps, underneath between his paw pads and his tummy go red when he is having atopic symptoms, not sure if it happens when he has a food reaction as he is red/pink a lot of the time. He also has really dry skin at the moment, even though he is on 5 fish oil and 5 evening primrose daily I am now spraying him with diluted QV oil daily as well whereas it used to just be 1 or 2 x a week, since last week his allergies have flared big time.

Hey hey LB was it a black 4WD? There are a few weis at tracking but if it was a black 4WD ute type thingo (with a canopy) I know who that is! nup park was definitely Yellagonga - just looked it up I often take Mason there for a run, its really quiet during the week, I wont take a chance in summer with the snakes though.

It just depends if you have it to yourself or not ;) Mas1981 can probably tell you a good story that happened to her there. Something along the lines of there were these dogs lunging and being fairly aggressive to Mason through the fence as she approached the gate, and the dumbass owners were telling her to hurry up and bring her dog in and let it off lead already because her dog being on lead was what was making their dogs act the way they are. I'm not that cluey on doggy behaviour, but it was my understanding that the one feeling intimidated and perhaps aggressive, if any, would be the one ON lead, not the ones off! She did what any sensible person would do, walk away! Yip thats basically the whole story and I have not taken him back there even though its literally a 5 min drive from our house I do take him to the park and just walk him onlead in the non- offlead areas though which is lovely Loads of work for Mason and I to do this week, our club comp is on sunday morning bright and early, I am trying to focus on my heelwork and sit stays.

I never realized when Mason was a pup that he had a food allergy, he had stools with loads of mucous and sometimes blood - we thought he had a sensitive stomach, he was not really very itchy until he got to around 10 months old, now when he eats something he is allergic to he does a lot of bottom scooting and he bites/knaws a lot around his butt and groin area.

Allergy Treatment - The Next Step

I am pretty sure I need a referral for insurance purposes right? Yes for the insurance you need a referral but they do see dogs without a referral if you dont need the referral for insurance, if your vet is hesitant to give you one I would go and see my vet, he was more than happy to refer us -
Allergy Treatment - The Next Step

Hi Hannah, I would phone up and make an appointment with Dr Mandy Burrows the dermatologist from Murdoch, they are also at Perth Specialist vet Centre on a friday in Osborne park which is way closer for you. I would have never ever have said that Mason has food allergies but doing the elim diet for 6 weeks and now sequential diet changes we have found that he is allergic to chicken, beef, rice and Vets all Natural Complete mix. I believe contact allergies are very rare and it more common for them to be atopic, Mason results came back that he is allergic to most plant, weed and tree pollens , dust mites, storage mites and fleas. BTW i would not use the Malaseb, I have been told to use QV wash and then spray with diluted QV oil ( i do the oil daily at the moment as Mason has very very dry skin ), we also use the Duoxo pipettes which you can only get from the derm . -
SFE is the only thing Mason can do reasonably well we have our club comp next weekend and I am nervous, have not had a chance to train this week, been so so busy
-
I am so excited that Mason and Ella can finally play together, its all they wanted to do at tracking
-
That's a shame I thought you were really enjoying agility I was really enjoying it and will probably go back next year, its also really difficult as there is something in Carine that sets Mason's allergies off big time and I cannot bath and dry him after 9 when we get home at night, I am hoping that by early next year he may have had a big improvement and not be so affected by his allergies. On sundays when we attend class I bring him home and bath him ( saying that we have had so many things on on a sunday that we have not been to class in ages), but we did have a lesson last weekend and we will be doing a club comp next sunday

Big hugs Valley, its not a nice decision to have to make but if she is suffering it is the right thing to do and she will be forever grateful to you.
-
We will be there barring a disaster etc

I would love to try ZUmba, but as I am not even continuing with agility with Mason due to a lack of co-ords and me tripping and falling over him in beginners class repeatedly I dont think I am a good candidate for Zumba!!
