  1. I read somewhere that Rally is sometimes a team sport and club teams compete against one another? I may have gotten the wrong end of the stick though lol ;)
  2. Clicker train him to look at you instead of the other dogs, its taken me a long long time but I have finally managed to get Mason to stop doing this, its awful I hurt my back a few times because he pulls me towards them with such force! I have also trained my dog to sit and wait until they walk past, does Archer know the wait command?? I used to get Mason to sit, ask him to wait and when he did I gave loads of yummy treats. They must learn the wait command at home though.
  3. Where's that stacked photo of Ruby you posted in the Lab Agility thread? RubyStar's two are just how I like to see labs, fit, lean and energetic It's not really a stacked pic, she certainly is no show dog! But a beauty in my eyes Ruby: Millie: Millie, Mason and Ruby: Lol look how short Mason's legs were there still, he had a lot of puppy fat !!
  4. Where's that stacked photo of Ruby you posted in the Lab Agility thread? RubyStar's two are just how I like to see labs, fit, lean and energetic Yip they are very lean, no matter how hard i try I cant get Mason to trim down to smaller than he is, I think its because he is a male and just built differently
  5. It is quite simple, food control. Yip its very easy, if your dog is picking up too much weight feed less
  6. show us yours !!! Here's my boy, sometimes I do think he looks a little skinny, but he's only just turned one so prob got a bit more growing/filling out. I would really rather have him a bit lean than have joint problems. Archie is about the same size as Mason, have u weighed him lately??
  7. Yeah he is teething at the moment, his two front teeth on the top and bottom have come through and some of his other teeth are just starting to come through as well. I just gave the vet a call and have booked him in for 3.15 this afternoon, hopefully it will be nothing but good to at least get him checked out. Thanks to all for the replies so far! Its best to just get him checked out, my pup ate the whole way through teething, in fact he was looking for more things to chew because his gums were bothering him so much
  8. That is not normal, I would take him to the vet.
  9. No it doesnt sound like it from what you have listed My shutter speed is also not quick enough to catch my boys zoomies. I had 2 ridgeback x sisters and the one used to zoom and the other didnt.
  10. This is a very interesting topic, I am keen to start competing when my dog is ready but I did not know any of this stuff so I have found it very informative
  11. I also get 'look at that skinny black lab over there, he must be starving" but the people who make the comments always have fat labs walking at their sides My boy weighs 31Kg which for a male is not a lot at all, he is only a year so he may grow a bit but I wont let him get fat
  12. I wish the Labrador Retriever nationals would hold obedience and agility, too. It seems all they do is conformation and some retrieving test. Or even if the club would hold normal obedience and agility trials! Other breed clubs tend to, I just never understood why some breed clubs don't. I'm sure there is a perfectly good explanation for why, I just don't know it I will watch your videos tonight, can't wait!! I wish Australia had a Chessie club. :D RS the thing I noticed most in your obidience runs is how happy Ruby looked! One of the things I love about Labs - they're always HAPPY Thats what I said to Rubystar today the thing I love about Rubys trial video's is that her tail is up and wagging, Masons is out dead straight when I train him lol
  13. I dont think there is any excuse for a lab to be overweight, if you dont overfeed them and exercise them daily then they wouldnt be obese. Here are 2 pics taken of my boy today at his party I recently got him to drop a Kg because I was worried for his joints, he is looking fit and healthy now IMO.
  14. Photos please and how did you make it? I'm considering remaking mine, it's too flimsy so takes me forever to set up In case you are interested I put a link up to some cheap agility equipment in the WA thread, I found it while looking at crates.
  15. Raw isn't necessarily money saving - especially not these days as the butchers have caught on! I have a skinny pointer here who requires copious amounts of food but I don't see him having to eat a lot as a negative to his general health (just to my wallet!). He requires 3 X what the labs do yet he weighs less and he always gets the fattiest bones I can find. As I said earlier in the thread he sometimes gets supplemented with high calorie puppy food a few times per week to help keep his condition. OH seems to think that a full body cast would probably work best just to stop the little bugger from moving all the time! He burns it quickly. Labs are the easiest dog to put weight on, I have to watch mine very carefully or he puts on a lot of weight, people probably think i am starving him when they hear what he eats a day Some labs are. They all have different calorie requirements. From my experience I have never heard of one that battles to keep weight on.

  17. There are loads of successful people at our club who trial their dogs, they all use food when training and reward their dogs after their rounds in an obedience trial. If I show my dog his dinner bowl then leave the bowl inside and ask him to work, he works very well, same thing would apply for the obedience trail leave the food in the car etc, dog works and then gets it after.
  18. Clever Kenz Mason would bring back anything that looked remotely ineteresting
  19. LOL = celebrating we were. Rubystar is the best person to have in the car - her bag held an endless supply of Goodies or jackpots for me Big congratulations to Bedazzled who took out UD at both trials today - well done mate Where is the video's bedazzled?? Would love to see
  20. I know tell me about it, have been checking my phone the whole evening, thought I was in 'the circle of trust'
  21. Well done guys!!! You 2 deserved it after all the hard work you put in

I musn't have scrolled all the way down the page ;) Thanks Joelle and Masons mum No worries I never saw it at first yesterday either, I needed to go toCity Farmers as I always weigh my boy on their scale and he has lost one Kg, I am trimming him down just a little, will keep him at his current weight now
