  1. I've just put this back up to the top of the list hoping someone can assist.....pleeeeaassssse!! I dont know if any classes are being held yet, I know there are seminars coming soon to train instructors, maybe PM Angelsun ( I think thats her name) have a look further down the training forum and you will see the thread on Rally O seminars.
  2. Mason only gets itchy at certain times of the year and also on certain spots, tummy, legs, flanks, and face are where he itches. His eyes swell if he touches some plants and/or certain grasses. I have made sure that I am using a natural laundry detergent etc but it doesnt seem to have helped that much he is still itchy and he only used to itch morning and evening which is bad enough but now he itches early hours of the morning and that wakes us up. I am going to go to the Rally U seminar in July, I spoke to my club and they said that when they know more thay may offer training too, if they do thats cool or else I may also join Eden Hill for Rally O training. MM - being that it's certain times of the year, it's possible that it is atopy, or otherwise known as inhalant allergies... unlike us, the irritation in dogs allergic to certain things comes out in the skin. Common areas are as you described, face, feet and chest/tummy area. Without going into too much detail about desensitisation injections and cortisone, you can try things like getting Mason on fish oil or omega 3, using an oatmeal shampoo or, if very bad, a shampoo like malaseb can do wonders, but Malaseb can be very drying so only use if it gives relief. Another thing you can do, if it gets very bad, is have Mason have a skin test. A number of vets do these now and it helps to find what he is allergic to, so that you can get rid of those things if possible. You can go one step further and have a serum made up and do desensitisation injections. Spartan (far left in siggy) had very bad skin allergies and still has set backs now. he was diagnosed at about 12 months or so with Atopy, and had to go on cortisone because he was so bad. he used to have to wear a t-shirt and boots to stop him from scratching and biting. he started his desensitisation at around 16 months, and slowly came off cortisone. He has been steroid free for a number of years now, but unfortunately still suffers when seasons change, much like i do with hayfever!! Unfortunately, I am something of an expert when it comes to dealing with skin issues. Congrats to bedazzled for her win with brooklyn!! YAY WA!! :p Hi ST, That is exactly what Mason has but lucky its not really very very bad, he does scratch etc at certain times of the day but not enough to break the skin or even make his skin pink, his eyes do swell if he touches diff plants. We went to the Naturopath today and I need to get him the EP Holistic Select Salmon and Anchovy, start him on fish oil capsules and give him some natural hayfever relief when he is itchy or has the swollen eyes. No chicken, beef or lamb etc, he can have liver treats though. I forgot to ask what I an use as training treats I usually use BBQ sausages but those are out, maybe I need to use fish fingers If he is allowed roo or fish you could make him some roo meatballs or fishballs perhaps. Nope only fish....
  3. They told us not to walk Mason for like 5 days but I phoned them after 2 days of not walking and told them that if I couldnt walk some of the energy off he was going to injure himself because he was sooo active and energetic. They said I could just do short walks with him as long as they were not too long or strenuous.
  4. Ok mim I am booked in with Ziggy Chester at 1pm so I will be there a bit before ( I hope) as I am not sure where I am actually going! lol Ziggy is the most awesome lady, she is so knowledgeable! My dog just loves her even though she sticks things in his eyes I think there is a City farmers in Canningvale.

  6. I finished at 12.30  :D . Yes but what time did you get up? I only work 3 or 4 hrs a day, start at 9 finish at 12 or 1....
  7. Awww naughty Sooty, I am hoping that my class finishes in time on sunday so that I can watch the members achievement trial
  8. I paid +- $1800 for 30 days for my cats sharing, dogs I think were $10 more a day. The prices went up in September.

  10. I am taking Mason to the Naturopath this evening so that she can maybe help out with his itchiness, I am sure its to do with his pollen/grass allergies but we wont know until she sees him...
  11. I brought my 2 cats over from South AFrica last year, because of rabies they stayed in quarantine a totalof 210 days of which 30 days must be done in Australia, cost me to fly them both over here around $2000, total quarantine costs were around $7000. It worked out to 7 months. I know when my cats were in Byford there were some American people who had brought dogs over and their animals spent 3 months in Quarantine here in Perth.
  12. I agree 100%, bones and toys used to start fights amongst my 2 as the one would bury their toy/bone and then the one would try steal the others off them. They would also fight if one went out and one stayed home, in the end if one needed the vet I would take both just to be on the same side and I never gave them bones or toys after the last huge fight.
  13. I know the only time I ever go south is to dog events, quite like living up here in no mans land, its very quiet and tranquil.
  14. I feed Eagle Pack Holistic Select to my lab because it was yeast and gluten free and the only grains in it are rice. Royal Canin is not a bad food though I feed it my cats, I would love to try Artemis but its not easily available here in WA.
  15. Don't say that now I'll want to join ACWA, which I've said so many times , I do really it's just so far . I always say that I am going to go watch stuff and I never end up going because I am too lazy do to the hours drive, when we compete it will be worth it but I am not holding my breath, maybe we will never be ready
  16. Yes but unfortunately they often post on the website after I have already had to leave Which is why when in doubt I often choose not to go as I have driven the hour before to find out that training had been cancelled :D An hour drive..... sounds familiar, it also takes me an hour to get down there which is why I dont go very often...
  17. Very dark skies here in Swan Valley....
  18. My friend had one of each type and they were very sweet, they got away with murder though, the goldies would get into trouble if they were naughty and were made to sleep outside but Peanut and Penny slept inside on their beds. Peanut has passed away since then, he had a tumour on the spine that paralysed him the poor thing
  19. I think that the people in my obedience class must say the same thing about me 'here comes that lady with the hyper lab who charges through class to get to his friend on the other side" :D
  20. Say what?! I am certainly no expert on dog behaviour, but I know from experience that fighting between dogs is not related to gender. I disagree with you, male dogs will fight to hurt one another but bitches will fight to the death.
  21. Both of them are fixed.... Thanks for everyones advice. I will try to look for a beahavourist down this way... The little witches were best buds last night. They normally sleep in seperate beds but noo not last night, they had to sleep with each other.. Yip mine would be the same, arch enemies one minute, best friends the next....
